OPERATION

Intended Use

  • The winch is designed for moving and pulling mobile loads (rolling / swimming/sliding) within the limits that are specified in the technical data. It must not be used for moving fixed loads and for lifting loads.
  • It is not approved for use in hazardous areas.
  • The winch must only be operated at 12 V DC current.
  • The winch may only be operated by using the supplied mounting plate or in another solid mounting.
  • Do not use the winch from a motor vehicle with a running engine.
  • The winch is not designed for continuous operation.
  • The intended use also includes an operation following the operating instructions.
  • Any use beyond these parameters (different media, applying force) or any changes (reconstruction, no original accessory) can lead to serious risks and is regarded as use that is contrary to the intended purpose.

Electric Connections

  1. Push the cover (3) in the direction of the arrow to open the compartment for the electric connections.
  2. If you want to operate the winch by means of the cable remote (5), connect the 3-pin plug of the black cable of the remote to the corresponding socket of the winch.
  3. Then connect the 2-pin plug of the red and black power cable (10) to the corresponding socket of the winch.
  4. After the steel cable has been attached to the load and all safeguarding measures have been observed, clamp the clamp of the black power cable (minus pole) to a suitable part of the vehicle’s chassis, e.g. frame or engine.
  5. Then clamp clamp of the red power cable (plus pole) to the positive terminal of the vehicle’s battery.

Attaching the Winch

Attention! Always wear gloves when handling the steel cable!

  1. Hook the mounting plate (9) to the base plate of the winch. The opening of the winch for the steel cable has to face in the opposite direction of the hole in the mounting plate.
  2. If you have attached the winch to a motor vehicle, make sure the vehicle will not move under load. Do not put the vehicle in gear, instead apply the parking brake and ideally use additional blocks under the tires to keep the vehicle from moving.
  3. Hang the mounting plate with the attached winch onto the trailer hitch of the vehicle. Lead the hole completely over the ball of the trailer hitch. It has to catch the neck of the trailer hitch (as pictured on the right).
  4. Loosen the clutch of the winch by turning the turn knob (2) counterclockwise for two turns. Use one of the remote controls to wire out the steel cable to the desired length. Make sure that at least three turns of steel cable remain on of the drum. If necessary, ask a second person for assistance.
  5. Attach the hook to the object be drawn (using the object hitch, pull straps or quick-release hooks). Never attach the hook on vehicle panels, beams, steering components, drive shafts, or deck clamps! Do not loop the steel cable around the object and never draw a loop with the hook!
  6. Turn the clutch knob clockwise and firmly fasten the clutch.

Operating the Winch

  1. Step out of the danger zone and operate the toggle push button of the cable remote (5) or use the keys on the radio-controlled remote to wire out (6) or in (7) the steel cable (make sure to switch on the radio-controlled remote first). The winch operates as long as you press any key accordingly.
  2. Constantly monitor the operation of the winch and immediately turn off the winch if you experience interferences or any threats of danger (e.g., drifting, blocking or toppling load). Also turn off the winch if the slipping clutch responds (the motor continues to rotate, but draws no more)! Then the maximum pulling force is exceeded.
  3. When the object to be drawn has reached its final position, turn off the winch. Secure the load against rolling, tilting, etc.
  4. Release the clutch by turning the clutch knob (2) counterclockwise and releasing the steel cable as far as the hook can be removed.
  5. Wire in the steel cable, but only as far as the cable loop is not running on the cable drum. Make sure that the cable runs cleanly on the drum turn next to turn. Amounting turns may jam or damage the winch or damage the cable. Be careful to avoid tangles and kinks. Do not let the hook run on the drum to avoid damaging the winch.
  6. Disconnect the clamps of the power cable from the battery (first disconnect the plus pole and then the minus pole).
  7. Remove the winch from the trailer hitch. Disconnect the two electric plugs and then store the winch and the accessories in a dry place. Only use the carrying handle to move the winch.

Using the Hand Crank

  1. You can use the hand crank for “emergency operation”. Place the hand crank (12) on the clutch shaft and secure it with the corresponding nut.
  2. Release the clutch by turning the clutch knob (2) counterclockwise.
  3. Turn the hand crank to wire in or out the steel cable.
  4. Turn the clutch knob clockwise to tighten the clutch.

Note

Attention: Never use the hand crank to supplement the motor or to hold the load with the crank. This may lead to injury or damage to the winch.

  • Exchanging the Battery of the Radio Remote Control
  • If there is no reaction of the winch when you press a key on the remote control or if the transmitting range decreases, exchange the battery of the remote control with a new one of the same type and dimensions.
  • The battery compartment is located at the rear side of the remote control.
  1. Slide down the battery compartment lid from the remote control.
  2. Insert a new battery of type A23. Pay attention to the proper polarity of the battery.
  3. Push the battery compartment lid back on the remote control.

Cleaning and Maintenance

  • Keep the steel cable clean and lightly oiled.
  • If the winch is used extensively, it should be examined and lubricated by a qualified technician once a year.
  • Do not try to repair the winch yourself and do not disassemble it. In case of questions or problems please turn to our customer service.
  • Clean the housing of the winch with a lightly moistened cloth.

Storing

  • Store the unit indoors in a dry place that is protected from dust, dirt, and extreme temperatures.
