Product Information

The Chainsaw (Battery) is a portable handheld cutting tool that is powered by a rechargeable battery. It is designed for cutting trees, branches, and other wood-related materials. The chainsaw comes equipped with a chain brake, chain oil lubrication, and a spiked bumper to help steady the saw during operation.

SAFETY FIRST

If you are collecting the equipment for someone else please make sure this sheet is given to the equipment user to read. This sheet should be given to the site supervisor if the equipment is being hired for commercial use so that the information is available to all users.
Before starting any job, be sure to spend a few minutes planning and understanding the hazards and risks of the job. Do this by:

  • Thinking about and observing your surroundings
  • Running through the steps of the job in your mind
  • Identifying the hazards, how you can get hurt and how you’ll prevent it
  • Knowing what plant and equipment you need
  • Only starting when you can do the job safely
  • Ensuring you are trained or experienced for the task
  • Communicating with everyone involved

Points to consider when planning a task. Can you:

  • Come into contact with an energy source (e.g. heat, electricity, substance under pressure) or hazardous materials
  • Be struck-by or against anything?
  • Be caught-in, on or between anything?
  • Slip, trip or fall on the same or too a lower level
  • Strain or sprain a muscle?
  • Cause damage to plant equipment or property?
  • Spill or pollute something?

Instructions for Use

Pre-Start Checks and Safety

  • Check for overhead wires
  • Chain is lubricated (chain oil)
  • Remove chain protector
  • Check chain tension
  • Always have a clear working area
  • Beware of falling branches
  • Beware of loose clothing
  • Have a planned retreat when cutting down a tree
  • Don’t use for purpose not intended, e.g. steel
  • Don’t cut into ground, cables, stones, pipes, etc.
  • Always carry the saw with the blade to the rear and stopped
  • Check machine for any binding of moving parts or breakages

Starting procedure

  1. Fit battery to compartment, engages with a click and is now locked
  2. Ensure the chain brake is disengaged
  3. Hold chainsaw firmly with both hands
  4. Pull in trigger switch to make chainsaw go while pressing switch safety lockout.

When Operating

  • Always wear the required safety equipment
  • Always hold saw handle firmly with both hands
  • Study tree to be cut and surroundings
  • Always be sure of your footing
  • Do not stand over or directly behind saw when operating
  • Always keep a slight downward pressure on saw when cutting but allow the saw to do the work
  • Release pressure when coming to the end of a cut
  • Use the spiked bumper against the wood to help steady the saw
  • Periodically check chain bar oil level

Re-checking the Chain Tension

  1. Stop the chainsaw
  2. Adjust the chain tension by loosening the bar securing bolts and tightening the adjusting screw
  3. Retighten the bar securing bolts

Stopping and After Use

  • Release trigger switch
  • Remove battery by pressing both lock levers
  • Re-fit chain protector
