RECTORSEAL AG-1200 AquaGuard Plus Magnetic Float Switch
Product Information
The AG-1200+ Magnetic Float Switch is an AquaGuard condensate shut-off switch that is used in HVAC systems to prevent property damage and personal injury caused by power outages or inoperative switches. The switch is designed to be installed by or under the direct supervision of a licensed contractor. The switch must be installed in accordance with all applicable local plumbing, drainage, and electrical codes. The installation instructions must be followed to ensure proper performance of the product.
Product Usage Instruction
Installation Instructions
- Step 1: Disconnect power to the unit at the main panel. Disconnect power to the low-voltage thermostat circuit.
- Step 2: Loosen the three thumb screws on the float switch. Unscrew the top thumb screw until the clamp separates.
- Step 3: Slide the float switch onto the side of the pan at the lowest point on the pan.
- Step 4: Finger tighten the top thumb screw first, then the bottom two. Secure switch wires so they will not affect the operation of the float.
- Step 5: Clean the surface with an alcohol pad before mounting it with adhesive tape.
Wiring Instructions:
To ensure proper performance of the product, follow the instructions below:
- Step 1: Ensure that power is disconnected from the unit at the main panel prior to moving to step 2. Refer to the wiring diagram for conventional HVAC systems.
- Step 2: Wire the normally open third wire (short wire) according to the wiring diagram for conventional HVAC systems.
- Step 3: Test switch responsiveness by filling the pan with water to ensure that the switch stops the unit before the pan overflows. Remove water.
- Step 4: Place the “Attention” sticker on the unit in a clearly visible location.
Maintenance Instructions:
Inspect, clean, and test the device every 30 days and following each
cleaning of the drain line. See the equipment manufacturer’s recommendations
for specific wiring instructions for communicating HVAC systems.
WORK SAFE
Warning:
- Failure to read and comply with all warnings, cautions, and instructions prior to starting installation may cause personal injury and/or property damage and void the warranty.
- Remove electrical shock hazard – DISCONNECT THE POWER BEFORE INSTALLATION to avoid electrical shock and/or equipment damage. Do not use on circuits exceeding 24 volts to avoid damage to switch, shock or fire hazard.
NOTICE
- In any installation where property damage and/or personal injury might result from an inoperative switch due to power outages, a backup system(s) and/or alarm should be installed.
- The AquaGuard AG-1200+ must only be installed by or under the direct supervision of a licensed contractor. The condensation pan must be properly maintained after installation and be kept free from foreign objects, rust or other obstructions that might interfere with the proper operation of the AquaGuard float switch.

INSTALLATION OF FLOAT SWITCH ON DRAIN PAN
(To ensure proper performance of product, instructions must be followed.)
- Disconnect power to unit at main panel. Disconnect power to the low voltage thermostat circuit.
- Loosen the three thumb screws (fig.1). Unscrew the top thumb screw until the clamp separates.
- Slide the float switch onto the side of the pan at the lowest point on the pan.

WIRING THE AG-1200+ in a Conventional HVAC System
(To ensure proper performance of the product, instructions must be followed.)
- Ensure the power is disconnected to the unit at the main panel prior to moving to step 2. Refer to the appliance manufacturer’s installation and operating instructions and also review the wire layout in their instructions.
- Locate the red wire coming from the 24-volt thermostat “R” terminal.
- Disconnect or cut the red wire. Connect the Normally Closed non-ribbed wire of the switch, using a wire nut, to the thermostat side of the circuit. Connect the Common ribbed wire of the switch, using a wire nut, to the air handler side of the circuit or to the terminal in the unit. Incorporating both switch wires in the red circuit will shut the unit completely off.
- Test the switch. (At start-up, check the initial amperage load.)
- With the unit on, test the switch by pulling the float pin-up. (fig. 2) Unit should stop running if the switch is correctly wired.
- To test the switch’s responsiveness, fill the pan with water to ensure that the switch stops the unit before the pan overflows. Remove water.
- Place the ATTENTION sticker on the unit in a clearly visible location. (fig. 3)
- For wiring the normally open third wire (short wire) refer to the following diagrams:
