Bona UX 220 Edge UX Sanding Machine

Product Information

The Bona Service Kit is designed for use with the Bona Edge UX 220 mm machine. This kit includes all the necessary tools and parts needed to replace the cogged belt and pulley, attach the dustbag, change the Velcro disc, and change the wheel. Before starting any maintenance work, it is important to ensure that the machine is switched off and the power cord is disconnected from the socket.

Product Usage

Tools you will need: wrench, blocking tool, Philips screwdriver, Allen key, hammer.

1. Turn off the machine and remove the abrasive.
2. Remove the center screw.
3. Insert the blocking tool into the hole on the machine arm. Rotate the disc until the tool slides into place.
4. Hold the blocking tool steady while turning the sanding disc counterclockwise.
5. Remove the 6 screws from the bottom metal plate.
6. Remove all screws from the Belt Protection plate.
7. Rotate the pulley until you see the 3 screws.
8. Remove the 3 screws.
9. Remove the pulley by inserting the blocking tool into the hole on the machine arm and gently knocking it with a hammer.
10. Replace the old belt with a new one.
11. Install the new pulley and use the blocking tool to fixate it in the right position.
12. Rotate the pulley until you see the screw holes and put the screws back in place.
13. Insert the blocking tool into the hole on the machine arm.
14. Hold the blocking tool steady while screwing the sanding disc back in place.

HOW TO REPLACE THE COGGED BELT AND THE PULLEY
Tools you need: Wrench, Blocking tool, Philips Screwdriver, Allen Key, Hammer

Before starting, make sure that the machine is switched off and the power cord is disconnected from the socket.

• STEP 1
  • Remove the plastic cap.
• STEP 2
  • Turn the machine and remove the abrasive.
• STEP 3
  • Remove the center screw.
• STEP 4
  • Insert the blocking tool into the hole on the machine arm. Rotate the disc until the tool slides into place.

  • Hold the blocking tool steady while turning the sanding disc counter clockwise.

  • Remove all screws from the Belt Protection plate.

  • Remove the blocking tool on the back side.
• STEP 9
  • Rotate the pulley until you see the 3 screws.
• STEP 10
  • Remove the 3 screws.

  • Remove the pulley by inserting the blocking tool into the hole on the machine arm and gently knock it with a hammer.
• STEP 12
  • Replace the old belt with a new one.
• STEP 13
  • Install the new pulley.
• STEP 14
  • Make sure that you place the pulley in the right position by using the blocking tool to fixate it.
• STEP 15
  • Rotate the pulley until you see the screw holes and put the screws back in place.
• STEP 16
  • Insert the blocking tool into the hole on the machine arm.

  • Put the Belt protection back.
• STEP 18
  • Hold the blocking tool steady while screwing the sanding disc back in place.
• STEP 19
  • Install the bottom plate.
• STEP 20
  • Put the the center screw back.
• STEP 21
  • Put the plastic cap back.

HOW TO ATTACH THE DUST BAG

Tools you need: No tools are needed

Before starting, make sure that the machine is switched off and the power cord is disconnected from the socket.

• STEP 1
  • Slide the dustbag over the tube.
• STEP 2
  • Tie it to the tube using the strings on the dustbag.

HOW TO CHANGE THE VELCRO DISC

Tools you need: Heating gun, Knife, Pincers, White Spirit

Before starting, make sure that the machine is switched off and the power cord disconnected from the socket.

• STEP 1
  • Heat up the velcro for approx. 20 seconds.
• STEP 2
  • Make a cut in the velcro.
• STEP 3
  • Remove the old velcro using a pincers.
• STEP 4
  • Clean the disc with White Spirit to remove the residuals.
• STEP 5
  • Place the new velcro disc on the cleaned surface.

HOW TO CHANGE THE WHEEL

Tools you need: Pipe wrench, Allen key, Loctite

Before starting, make sure that the machine is switched off and the power cord disconnected from the socket.

• STEP 1
  • Loosen the bottom black handwheel.
• STEP 2
  • Hold the top handwheel with a pipe wrench while removing the bottom screw using an Allen Key.
• STEP 3
  • Remove the screw and nut from the old wheel and mount it on the new wheel.
• STEP 4
  • Reinstall the new wheel and the bottom handwheel.
• STEP 5
  • Use Loctite to secure the top handwheel.
• STEP 6
  • Adjust the height of the wheel by adjusting the nut.
