Instructions for use

Safety instructions

Thoroughly study these instructions for use before first use. The appliance is intended for household use; do not use it for commercial purposes and outdoors.
WARNING: The appliance may not be used by unattended children; it is not intended as a toy for children. Medically impaired persons and persons unfamiliar with the use of the appliance may use it only if they receive supervision and instructions.
Always use the appliance on a flat, stable and clean working surface, out of the reach of other kitchen appliances, the minimum distance is 30 cm. Do not use the soup maker near a cooker.
Supply with power from a 230 V, 50/60 Hz grid. For safety reasons, a damaged power cord must be replaced by an authorised service centre. The power cord must not touch any sharp edges or corners and surfaces with a high temperature. Hold the plug instead of pulling the power cord when disconnecting the power cord from the grid. If the power cord or plug is damaged or is in any way limited in its functioning, stop using the soup maker.
Do not immerse the appliance in water or any other liquid. For security reasons, do not disassemble and repair the appliance yourself; in case of any failure, please contact a TESCOMA retail centre or service centre. For a list of these centres, go to www.tescoma.com.

IMPORTANT NOTICE

Do not leave the appliance to blend for more than 6 minutes at a time! If the appliance stops due to overheating, disconnect it from the grid, do not use it for 20 minutes, then connect again and continue blending. If the blades get stuck while blending, disconnect the power cord from the grid, lift the jar, remove the food which caused the blades to stop and continue using the appliance after the motor cools down.

The appliance has built-in overheating protection. Protection by automatic switch-off is activated if the product is used in a nonstandard manner or if the motor is overloaded. If the appliance cannot be switched on even 30 minutes after the protection was activated, bring it to a TESCOMA service centre for repair.

NOTICE: To avoid risk due to inadvertent resetting of the thermal cut- out, this appliance must not be supplied through an external switching device.
Do not operate the product if the jar is empty; process all food and drinks only after adding the required amount of liquids.
Be careful when a hot liquid is poured into the soup maker as it can start to escape from the appliance in the form of steam.
Do not overfill the jar; always use the appliance with the lid on.
The stainless steel cutting blades are very sharp – be very careful when emptying and cleaning the jar. Do not use the soup maker if the blades are damaged.
Avoid contact with moving parts of the appliance, and keep hands, utensils and other objects out of the jar when a programme is running or the product is in operation (except for the enclosed tamper which is placed into the jar of an operating appliance through the opening in the lid).
Do not move an operating appliance and never touch the moving parts. Do not suspend the power cord onto any sharp or moving object.
Avoid water from spilling on the connectors of the appliance to avoid damage.
Use exclusively original accessories.
Switch off the appliance and disconnect the power cord from the power socket if the appliance is left unattended before assembling, disassembling and cleaning the product or before handling parts that move when in use.
NOTICE: The integrated cooking bottom inside the glass jar emits residual heat even after the appliance has been switched off.
Disconnect the appliance from power after use and clean all its parts which come into contact with food.
The appliance meets the applicable safety standards. The power cord may be repaired or replaced only by authorised service centres; contact details are available at www.tescoma.com. Incorrectly or inexpertly performed repairs cannot be claimed.

Before first use
Unwrap, disassemble and clean the appliance (see Cleaning). Place the base onto a flat surface away from a cooker and other appliances, the minimum distance is 30 cm. Connect the power cord with the plug to the 230 V grid.

Important notice

Never use the soup maker without food and liquids inside (the minimum is 200 ml).
Cut food into a maximum of 2 x 2 cm pieces before placing it into the soup maker.
Use the “Soup” scale to fill the soup maker in the “Clear soup, Cream soup, Sauce and Puree” programmes, i.e. min. 800 ml / max. 1,400 ml.
Use the “Cold” scale to fill the soup maker in the “Smoothie and Milkshake” programmes, i.e. min. 750 ml / max. 1,750 ml.
Never lift the jar from the base when running a programme and during manual or pulse blending.
Do not use the appliance for chopping meat and preparing crushed ice – the risk of damage to the stainless steel blades!
Do not use the glass jar in a microwave oven.

TO IMMEDIATELY STOP THE APPLIANCE IN ANY PROGRAMME, PRESS “START/STOP”; THE PROGRAMME WILL STOP IMMEDIATELY.
Filling (see the inset in the brochure)
Place cut food and liquids into the glass jar (1).
Switching on
Set the filled jar onto the base and put the lid on so that the handle of the lid and the handle of the jar are aligned (2). “Start/Stop” will light up and – – – – will begin flashing on the display (3). Press “Start/Stop” on the control panel; the time 00:00 will appear on the display – the soup maker is ready for use (4).

Using the appliance with programmes

“Clear soup” programme (5)

To prepare clear vegetable stock and meat broth, press “Clear soup” on the control panel; the cooking time in minutes, 45:00 will appear on the display. Press “Start/Stop”; the soup maker will start to count down the time and cook a clear soup. An intermittent sound signal will be activated after the programme ends, the time 00:00 will appear on the display and the programme will end automatically (valid for all programmes).
Lift the glass jar from the base, slightly rotate the lid counter-clockwise and remove it from the jar.
Notice: Be very careful when removing the lid and pouring it – the food is hot.

“Cream soup” programme (6)
To prepare blended vegetable and cream soups, press “Cream soup” on the control panel; the cooking time in minutes, 24:00, will appear on the display. Press “Start/Stop”; the heating indicator will appear on the display (intermittent lines running continuously across the display) and the soup maker will bring the food to boil. The cooking time in minutes, 24:00 will subsequently appear on the display, the soup maker will start to count down the time and blend intermittently until a creamy soup is cooked.

“Sauce” programme (7)
For preparing blended sauces, press “Sauce” on the control panel; the cooking time in minutes, 15:00, will appear on the display. Press “Start/Stop”; the heating indicator will appear on the display (intermittent lines running continuously across the display) and the soup maker will bring the food to boil. The cooking time in minutes, 15:00 will subsequently appear on the display, the soup maker will start to count down the time and blend until a sauce is cooked.

“Puree” programme (8)
To prepare blended, boiled vegetable and fruit purées, press “Puree” on the control panel; the cooking time in minutes, 11:00, will appear on the display. Press “Start/Stop”; the heating indicator will appear on the display (intermittent lines running continuously across the display) and the soup maker will bring the food to boil. The cooking time in minutes, 11:00 will subsequently appear on the display, and the soup maker will start to count down the time and blend until a purée is cooked.

Smoothie” programme (9)
To prepare drinks by blending fruit and vegetables, press “Smoothie” on the control panel; the blending time in minutes, 2:00, and the speed, 8, will appear on the display. Press “Start/Stop” ; the appliance will begin blending and will prepare a smoothie.

“Milkshake” programme (10)
To prepare blended milky drinks, press “ Milkshake ” on the control panel; the blending time in minutes and seconds, 01:10, and the speed, 8, will appear on the display. Press “Start/Stop”, and the appliance will begin blending and will prepare a milkshake.

“Heating” programme
Use the “Heating” programme for warming up and maintaining a set temperature for 60 minutes or for warming up to a serving temperature.
A. Warming up and keeping a set temperature (11)
Press “Heating” on the Control Panel; the temperature of 60 °C will appear on the display. Set the required temperature of the food to 70, 80, 90 or 100 °C by repeatedly pressing “Heating”. The soup maker will warm up the food and will maintain the set temperature for a period of 60 minutes while stirring it intermittently, then the program will end automatically.

B. Warming up to a serving temperature (12)
Press and hold for approximately 2 seconds “Heating” on the control panel; the temperature of 55 °C will appear on the display. The soup maker will warm up the food and maintain and blend it at the serving temperature for 6 hours, then the programme will end automatically.
Notice: Do not use the “Heating” programme for clear soups to avoid blending the food in the stock/broth. To warm up food thickened with flour, starch, bread crumbs,  bread etc. to a serving temperature (55 °C), always use only programme B. Warming up to a serving temperature (55 °C).
Checking food with a programme running
To check food while a program is running, remove the lid from the glass jar, set the lid back after the check within 50 seconds and press “Start/Stop”; the interrupted programme will be automatically restored and will complete the cooking process.
TO IMMEDIATELY STOP THE SOUP MAKER IN ANY PROGRAMME, PRESS “START/STOP”; THE PROGRAMME WILL STOP IMMEDIATELY (13).

Using the appliance without programmes (manual operation)
To prepare other vegetable and fruit drinks and food, use the appliance without programmes, operating it manually.
Manually set blending time and speed
Place liquids and cut food into the glass jar up to the 1,750 ml mark. Press “ Start/Stop ” on the Control Panel; the time 00:00 will appear on the display. Set “Time” between  00:05 and 6:00 minutes by pressing and holding +/– (14). Set “Speed” between 1 and 8 by repeatedly pressing +/– (15). Press “Start/Stop”; the soup maker will begin blending,  an intermittent sound signal will be activated after the set time elapses and the blending process will stop.
Pulse blending function (16)
To prepare drinks and food with a high content of solid parts and thick food such as root vegetables, pumpkins, nuts, yoghurt, ice cream, etc., use the pulse function with gradually added foods. Place liquids and cut food into the jar up to the 1,000 ml mark. Press and hold “Pulse” on the control panel; the soup maker will begin blending.  Repeatedly press and release “Pulse” until the mixture is blended to the desired consistency.
Notice: Do not use the “Pulse” function if any of the programmes are running.

Gradually adding food in the pulse mode
Release “Pulse” during the pulse blending mode and wait until the bleeding stops. Remove the closure of the filling hole from the lid by slightly rotating it and add liquids and cut food into the jar through the hole. Set the closure of the filling hole back on and continue pulse blending.

Measuring container with a spout
Use the measuring container with a spout for accurately measuring out food and other ingredients and easily adding them through the filling hole in the lid.
Tamper (17)
If, during operation in a programme or in manual use, a layer of food is formed in the jar that remains unblended, use the tamper.
Do not stop the soup maker, remove the closure from the lid, insert the tamper into the filling hole and press the unblended food down.

Important notice
Do not leave the soup maker to blend for more than 6 minutes at a time! If the appliance stops due to overheating during the blending process, disconnect it from the grid,  do not use it for 20 minutes, then connect again and continue blending. If the blades get stuck while blending, disconnect the power cord from the grid, lift the jar, remove the food which caused the blades to stop and continue using the appliance after the motor cools down.

Quick cleaning
For quickly cleaning any pulp etc. stuck inside the glass jar and the cutting blades, fill the jar with clean water with a few drops of detergent up to about one-half of the volume.  Set the lid with closure onto the jar and repeatedly press and release “Pulse”. Then pour out the water with detergent and thoroughly rinse the jar.

Cleaning (18)
Disconnect the soup maker from the grid and disassemble it before cleaning. Lift the glass jar from the base, slightly rotate the lid, remove it from the jar and remove the closure from the filling hole.

Glass jar
Clean the inside of the glass jar and the cutting edges of the cutting blades using the enclosed brush. Thoroughly rinse the cleaned jar and leave it to dry; clean the outside of the jar with a moistened cloth, rinse under running water if needed and dry; do not wash in the dishwasher. Notice: As the stainless steel blades are firmly attached to the bottom of the jar, they cannot be removed; be very careful in cleaning – the cutting edges of the blades are extra sharp!

The base of the soup maker
If necessary, wipe the base of the soup maker with a dry or dampened cloth. Do not wash under running water or in the dishwasher.
Notice: Make sure when washing the glass jar and the base that water does not enter the connectors. If this happens, remove the water and leave the connectors to dry completely before use.
Lid, lid closure, tamper and brush
Clean under running water and leave to dry. Do not wash in the dishwasher.
Maintenance
If the rubber insert of the shaft drive becomes worn or damaged from intense use, remove it using a suitable object and put into its place the replacement rubber insert which comes with the product’s accessories. Do not repair a faulty appliance yourself; in case of any failure contact a TESCOMA retail centre or service centre; for contact details, see www.tescoma.com.
Notice
Soup maker with blender PRESIDENT 1.75 l comes with specially shaped and ground cutting blades made of high-grade stainless steel. Intense or inappropriate use (food that is too hard or too large) inherently causes the blades to become dull, which cannot be claimed.

Troubleshooting

The soup maker is ready for use but the – – – – symbol has not lit up on the display.
A. The power cord is not connected: connect the power cord to a 230 V socket.
B. The lid of the jar is set incorrectly: slightly rotate the lid clockwise; the handle of the lid and the handle of the jar must be aligned.

The – – – – symbol lights up on the display but it is impossible to start a programme, pulse blending or manual blending.
A. Incorrect startup: always press “Start/Stop” before selecting a programme or the manual mode.
B. The soup maker did not manage to reset after being disconnected and then connected again to the grid: disconnect the power cord, wait for 3 minutes, connect the power cord and start the soup maker.
It is impossible to blend all the food in the jar evenly.
A. The food in the jar must be pressed while blending: use the tamper.
B. There are not enough liquids in the jar: remove some unblended food and add liquids.
Food sticks to the bottom of the glass jar when being cooked.
A. Incorrectly selected programme: end the running programme and select the correct one.
B. There are not enough liquids in the jar: pause the programme, remove some unblended food and add liquids.
E1 has appeared on the display.
A. The cutting blades are blocked by too large chunks of food: disconnect the power cord, remove the large chunks of food, cut them into smaller pieces, connect the power cord and start the soup maker.
B. Water has entered the contact surface of the base: disconnect the power cord, remove the water, leave the connector to dry, connect the power cord and start the soup maker.

E2 or E3 has appeared on the display.
A. The soup maker was started without liquids and food inside: disconnect the power cord, wait for 20 minutes, connect the power cord and start the soup maker.
B. The jar was removed from the base of the soup maker in operation: disconnect the power cord, wait for a while, connect the power cord and start the soup maker.
C. Water has entered the connectors on the base or on the glass jar: disconnect the power cord, remove the water, leave the connectors to dry, connect the power cord and start the soup maker.
E4 has appeared on the display.
Water has entered the connectors on the base or on the glass jar: disconnect the power cord, remove the water, leave the connectors to dry, connect the power cord and start the soup maker.
Notice: If E4 is still indicated on the display after the connectors have been dried, SERVICING will be necessary: bring the appliance to your retailer or a TESCOMA service centre; for contact details, see www.tescoma.com.

Recipes
Cut all the food indicated in the recipes to pieces not exceeding 2 x 2 cm, place into the glass jar, add the other ingredients, put the lid with closure onto the jar and start the corresponding programme.
“Clear soup” programme
Chicken broth
Ingredients: 400 g skinned chicken, 700 ml water, 20 g celery, 15 g butter, 100 g leek, 80 g carrot, 20 g parsley root, 4 peppercorns, 4 balls allspice, 2 bay leaves, salt and pepper to taste
Useful hint: If you want to make the soup heartier, add one lightly beaten egg to the glass jar 2 minutes before the end of the programme. To enhance flavour, you can add a tablespoon of vegetable condiment before starting the programme.

Vegetable stock
Ingredients: 450 g frozen or fresh vegetables, 750 ml water, 15 g butter, 2 cloves minced garlic, 1 tsp marjoram, salt and pepper to taste
Useful hint: Serve the vegetable broth with croutons from white bread. To enhance flavour, you can add a tablespoon of vegetable condiment before starting the programme.
The following recipes can be used to prepare cabbage soup and goulash soup in the “Clear soup” programme.

Cabbage soup with sausage
Ingredients: 130 g smoked sausages, 700 ml meat broth, 200 g sauerkraut, 150 g potatoes, 50 g rendered lard, 1 large onion, 2 cloves garlic, 2 tsp sweet paprika, 2 tsp sugar, ½ tsp crushed caraway seeds, pinch of hot pepper, knife tip of ground allspice, salt, pepper and vinegar to taste
Useful hint: The recipe for cabbage soup with smoked sausage does not use flour and is gluten-free.

Goulash soup with pork
Ingredients: 350 g pork shoulder, 650 ml beef broth, 2 large onions, 100 g potatoes, 30 g butter, 2 cloves minced garlic, 4 tsp sweet paprika, 3 bay leaves, 2 tsp salt, pepper,  chilli powder, ground allspice, caraway seeds and marjoram to taste
Useful hint: The recipe for goulash soup does not use flour and is gluten-free.

“Cream soup” programme
Champignon cream soup
Ingredients: 400 g cleaned champignons, 650 ml vegetable stock or meat broth or water, 100 g peeled potatoes, 40 g carrots, 40 g celery, 20 g parsley, 10 g butter, 1 tsp salt, ½ tsp  nutmeg and a pinch of pepper
Useful hint: Serve the champignon cream topped with Parmesan shavings.

Squash soup
Ingredients: 600 g pulp from the squash, peeled (Red Kuri, butternut, Musque), 500 ml vegetable stock or meat broth or water, 125 ml cream 33% (add to the soup maker approx. 5 minutes before the end of the programme), 1 large onion, 70 g carrot, 40 g parsley root, 40 g peeled potatoes, 30 g celery, 30 g butter, 2 cm peeled ginger, 1 clove  garlic, 3 tsp soy sauce, juice from half a lime, 2 tsp cane sugar, 2 tsp Dijon mustard, 1 tsp nutmeg, ½ tsp crushed caraway seeds, a pinch of chilli powder, salt and pepper to taste
Useful hint : Serve squash soup garnished with a tablespoon of sour cream and basil leaves. The recipe is suitable also for a gluten-free diet.

“Sauce” programme
Traditional Czech cream sauce for baked beef
Ingredients: 320 ml preserved root vegetables (carrot, celery, parsley), 300 ml stock/broth or water, 250 ml cream 33% (mix the cream with 4 tbsp plain flour and add to the  soup maker about 5 minutes before the end of the programme), 30 g celery, 30 g parsley, 1 large carrot, 1 onion, 10 g butter, 1 tbsp lemon juice, 3 tsp sugar, a small pinch of salt
Notice: When the programme ends, add beef drippings to the jar and blend the sauce using the “Pulse” function.

Tomato sauce
Ingredients: 500 ml beef broth, 4 large scalded peeled tomatoes, 115 g tomato purée, 125 ml cream 33% (mix the cream with 3 tbsp plain flour and add to the soup maker  about 5 minutes before the end of the programme), 1 onion, juice from half a lemon, 1 tbsp vinegar, 1 tsp sweet paprika, 1 tsp ground cinnamon, 1 bay leaf, a pinch of ground  allspice, a pinch of ground pepper, a pinch of thyme and crushed cloves, sugar and salt to taste
Notice: When the programme ends, add beef drippings to the sauce and blend the sauce using the “Pulse” function.

“Puree” programme
Vegetable purée
Ingredients: 400 g frozen or fresh vegetables, 150 ml water, 50 ml cream 33%, ½ tsp crushed caraway seeds, salt and pepper to taste
Useful hint: Serve the vegetable purée as a side dish topped with fried onions.

Cooked apple purée
Ingredients: 450 g peeled and cored apples, 150 ml water, 1 tbsp sugar, 1 tsp ground cinnamon
Useful hint: Place the purée prepared in the soup maker into preserving jars TESCOMA while still hot, leave to cool down and store in the refrigerator for up to 30 days.

Tomato purée
Ingredients: 500 g scalded peeled tomatoes, 50 ml water, 1 small apple, 1 small onion, 1 clove of garlic, 1 tbsp sugar, salt and pepper to taste, a few leaves of fresh basil or oregano
Useful hint: Tomato purée made in the soup maker is excellent for pizza, pasta, etc.

“Smoothie” programme
Smoothie with forest fruit
Ingredients: 150 g mixture of raspberries, blackberries and cherries, 150 g blueberries, 1 kiwi, 550 ml water

Banana smoothie with blueberries
Ingredients: 5 bananas, 200 g blueberries, 450 ml milk, 2 tsp honey
Mango smoothie
Ingredients: 700 g mango, 300 g white yoghurt, 400 ml milk, a drop of vanilla extract, a pinch of salt
Tomato smoothie with carrot
Ingredients: 500 g tomatoes, 150 g carrot, 150 g celery stalks, 350 ml apple juice, hot sauce to taste
Apple smoothie with cucumber
Ingredients: 450 g apples, 250 g fresh cucumber, 550 ml apple juice, nutmeg and cinnamon to taste
Banana smoothie with beetroot
Ingredients: 3 bananas, 300 g beetroot, 150 g white yoghurt, 450 ml apple juice, a chunk of freshly grated ginger, soaked chia seeds

“Milkshake” programme
Strawberry cocktail
Ingredients: 250 g strawberries, 550 ml soy milk, 3 bananas, 60 g oatmeal, 5 tsp honey
Banana cocktail
Ingredients: 250 g vanilla ice cream, 5 bananas, 700 ml milk
Chocolate cocktail
Ingredients: 500 g chocolate ice cream, 450 ml milk, 21 g Caro instant powder, 2 tsp honey
Peach cocktail
Ingredients: 700 g peaches, 250 g vanilla ice cream, 300 ml milk
