WARNINGS and SAFETY PRECAUTIONS:
To prevent injury to people and damage to property, please heed relevant
warnings and remarks. They are marked as follows:
WARNING: Serious injury or death may result if ignored.
CAUTION: Damage to property or the environment may result if ignored.
NOTE: Important additional information and hints.
Aseptico accepts no liability for direct or consequential injury or damage
resulting from improper use, arising in particular through the non-observance

Product being damaged, possibly beyond repair. Before using this product, make
sure that you have studied and understood the operating instructions.
CAUTION: All repairs are to be performed by authorized Aseptico service
personnel only.
WARNING: Do not install where there is a risk of an explosion. The AIRPAC
III is not intended for operation in the presence of flammable anesthetics or
gases.
CAUTION: Connect mains power cable to a properly grounded outlet only.
CAUTION: Use only approved appliance cords for North America with
Hospital Grade Plugs.
CAUTION: Replace Fuse with Rated 15A, 250V, SLO_BLO fuse ONLY!
OPERATION:
- After unpacking the compressor and standing it upright, as shown (see Figure
- open the case and remove the power cord from inside. Plug the power cord into the receptacle on the exterior side of the case (see Figure 1) and then into a grounded power outlet.
-
The AIRPAC III compressor is operated by an AUTO/OFF lever on the top side of the pressure switch inside the compressor case (see Figures 2 & 4). By turning the lever to the ‘AUTO’ position, the compressor will start and stop automatically to maintain pressure. The pressure switch is factory adjusted to properly start and stop. To turn the compressor off, turn the lever to the ‘OFF’ position.
-
After plugging the compressor in and turning it on, close the lid for operation.
Let the compressor run until it stops, indicating full pressure.
IMPORTANT:
If the electric power is interrupted by a power failure, unplugging the power cord, or by any other means, while the compressor is running, turn the AUTO/OFF lever to ‘OFF’ and then back to ‘AUTO’ to relieve back pressure and restart the compressor. If the power is interrupted, follow these steps immediately to prevent any motor damage. -
Locate the air output 1/4″ (or 3/8”) quick disconnect and pressure gauge on the exterior side of the compressor case (see Figure 3). Connect a 1/4″ (or 3/8”) male coupling from your equipment to the air output fitting. The pressure gauge indicates pressure in the air storage tank and gives a visual indication that the compressor is maintaining pressure properly.
5. The AIRPAC III compressor will cycle on and off as air is consumed during use.
This is normal for operation. Turn compressor off if not used for extended periods of time.
RULES FOR SAFE OPERATION:
- The compressor should be located in a dry, clean, and well ventilated area.
- Ensure the case is upright during use. Do not position the front (fan-side) of the unit close to walls or objects that might restrict the flow of air in/out of the unit.
- For proper operation and to maximize the longevity of the air compressor, it is very important that the air drawn into the air compressor is clean.
- This compressor needs no lubrication and should never be oiled. Applying oil to any part could result in polluted air delivery to the air handling equipment.
- If compressor is run for extended periods of time, open case for more efficient cooling.
- All compressors generate heat even under normal operating conditions. To avoid serious burns, never touch the compressor during or immediately after operation.
- When unit is not in use, wrap cord and store inside compressor. Do not sharply bend, pinch, or abuse the cord.
- Servicing should always be performed by an Authorized Service Center.
- ALWAYS use a grounded 3-prong plug-in.
- IMPORTANT: Always use the air filter, properly installed.
- WARNING: Use caution to minimize the risk of fire or explosion. Always operate the AIRPAC III at a safe distance away from flammable items. Risk of explosion if used in the presence of flammable anesthetics.
MAINTENANCE:
AIR STORAGE TANK- To avoid the risk of moisture in the air lines or tank
failure, drain the tank after every use or every four hours of running time to
prevent condensation build-up and corrosion inside the tanks. To drain tank,
allow the compressor to fully pressurize and then turn pressure switch
AUTO/OFF lever to the ‘OFF’ position. Remove power cord from the receptacle on
the side of the compressor case, then carefully turn the drain valve located
next to the compressor (see Figure 5) counterclockwise to open (clockwise to
close).
Place open end of drain hose into a collection container and allow the water
to drain out with the air.
ELECTRICAL- The motor of this compressor has a thermal overload protector. If the motor should overheat, the overload protector will shut off the motor. If this should occur, turn the compressor off immediately and allow the motor to cool. Restart the compressor. If the compressor fails to start, the compressor may need to cool further before attempting to restart. If the overload protector shuts the motor off frequently, you may have a low voltage situation. Low voltage can be suspected when:
- The motor does not get up to full power or speed.
- Lights dim when the compressor is started.
- Other motor operated appliances fail to operate properly.
- Compressor shakes or hesitates when starting.
A primary cause of voltage drop is using an extension cord that is not heavy
enough to carry the current the AIRPAC III compressor draws. An under-size or
over-length extension cord will cause a drop in line voltage, resulting in
loss of power and overheating. Aseptico does not recommend using an extension
cord when powering the AIRPAC III compressor unit.
AIR FILTER- The air filter is located on the right-hand side of the compressor
intake head (see Figure 6). Under normal use, the filter should not require
any cleaning or maintenance, however, if the compressor indicates a decrease
in the supply air, it might be necessary to replace the filter element. To
replace, unscrew the filter and install a new one (contact Aseptico for a
replacement filter).
CHANGING THE FUSE:
WARNING
ALWAYS DISCONNECT POWER TO THE UNITBEFORE CHANGING THE FUSE
-
Use a flat screwdriver to remove the Fuse Holder from the AC Power Receptacle (see Figure 7a).
-
Changing the fuse:
Replace the fuse in the Fuse holder (see Figure 7b).
Replacement Fuse: 15Amp, 250V slo-blo fuse (Fuse size: 5 x 20mm) -
Reinstall the Fuse Holder.
CLEANING:
- Clean the AIRPAC III case with a soft brush, or wipe with a moistened cloth using a biodegradable solvent. Do not use flammable liquids, such as gasoline or alcohol.
- Always keep parts clean from dirt or dust for better performance.
REPACKING :
Drain the tank as described on page 4, place pressure switch Lever in ‘OFF’
position, and remove power cord from unit. Wrap cord and carefully place
inside the case, adjacent to the tank. IMPORTANT: Do not pinch cord between
fans and compressor motor.
On the back side of unit, pull transport handle locking tab (see Figure 8a)
outward while raising the handle. Lift handle all the way up (see Figure 8b)
until the locking tab engages the bottom slot in the handle.
Use the handle and built-in wheels to transport the AIRPAC III Compressor.
