Monster® Performance and Safety Tips
Listen Responsibly
To avoid hearing damage, make sure that the volume on your music player is turned down before connecting your headphones. After placing headphones in your ears, gradually turn up the volume until you reach a comfortable listening level. Noise levels are measured in decibels (dB), exposure to any noise at or above 85 dB can cause gradual hearing loss. Monitor your use; hearing loss is a function of loudness versus time. The louder it is, the less time you can be exposed to it. The softer it is, the more time you can listen to it. Refer to the chart* below. This decibel (dB) table compares some common sounds and shows how they rank in potential harm to hearing.
Physiology of the Ear and Hearing
Listen
Turn down the volume on your music player before putting on N-tune headphones. Note the “L” and “R” markings above the inside of each earcup. “L” is for the left ear. “R” is for the right ear.
Connect, Talk and Control
The N-tune headphone cable features a built-in Monster ControlTalk Universal® remote for use with your music phone and newer iPod®/iPad.® A single control button and built-in mic allow you to easily switch between listening to music and talking on your phone hands-free.
Using ControlTalk Universal™
Answering a call When alerted of an incoming call, press and release
ControlTalk Universal’s control button.
Ending a call On most phones, press and release the control button. Some
phones require you to press and hold the control button.
Using call waiting Many, but not all phones function as follows:
When alerted of an incoming call while already on a call, press and release
the control button to answer and put the first call on hold. Press and release
the control button to swap back to the first call. Press and hold the control
button to end your current call and swap back to the call on hold.
Care and Storage
Keeping N-tune headphones clean is essential for safe, hygienic use. Never wear in-ear headphones if they appear dirty. When not in use, store your N-tune headphones in a clean, dry environment. Avoid storage in extreme heat or cold. Avoid exposure to liquids, temperature extremes, and high humidity. Never pull on the cable to disconnect N-tune headphones from your music player. Grasp the plug at the end of the cable and pull it to disconnect.
Sound Check
For the best iPod® or iPhone® listening experience, activate iTunes® Sound
Check. Sound Check standardizes the volume of all the songs in your music
library. N-tune headphones are specially designed to provide a powerful but
safe listening experience with Sound Check activated.
