TO USE

  1. Place the kettle and stand on a stable, flat, heat-resistant surface and away from surfaces that may be damaged by steam.
  2. Fully unwind the cable from the stand and plug it in. For safety do not allow the cable to dangle over the edge of units.
  3. Remove the kettle from the stand; remove the lid and fill to the required level using the markings on the clear water gauge as a guide. Do not fill past the MAX (1.7 litre / 7 cups) or below the MIN (0.75 litre / 3 cups) level.
  4. Close the lid fully until it clips into place and ensure that the switch is in the off position (lift switch up) before replacing on the stand.
  5. Turn the kettle so that the spout faces away from you and switch the kettle on by pressing the switch downward (I). The kettle will start to operate and the power indicator (in the switch) will illuminate.
  6. When the water boils, the kettle will switch off automatically and the indicator light will go off.
  7. To stop or interrupt the boiling process, switch the appliance off by lifting the switch up before removing the kettle from the stand.

Notes:

  • Before using for the first time, fill the kettle to the maximum level, bring to the boil and then discard water. Repeat this step two further times.
  • This kettle is fitted with a safety device that automatically switches off the heater element if the appliance is inadvertently switched on when empty or if it boils dry. In this case allow the kettle to cool completely (minimum 15 minutes) before refilling with cold water. The kettle will resume operation after refilling.

CLEANING

To maximize the efficiency of the kettle, clean and descale regularly.

  1. Switch off, unplug the kettle and allow it to cool completely.
  2. Remove the lid and unclip the filter (fig 1 & 2).cookworks-WK8213NAH-Pyramid-Kettle-fig-2
  3. Clean the filter under a running tap while gently brushing with a soft nylon brush to remove the scale.
  4. Descale with a proprietary descaler suitable for kettles and use in accordance with the instructions on the pack. Alternatively half fill the kettle with water and add the juice of one lemon. Boil the kettle and allow it to stand for 15 minutes. Repeat this last step a further two times before discarding the solution.
  5. After descaling, fill the kettle to the maximum level, bring to the boil and then discard the water.
  6. Refit the filter (fig. 3). Support the filter with the fingers on the inside the kettle and hook the clip at the bottom of the filter over the lip on the base of the spout. Once the hook is in position, press the top of the filter into the holder.
  7. Wipe external surfaces with a soft damp cloth; do not use detergents or abrasives as these may scratch the surface.
