PORTOR LIGHTING PT-EML-R Moving Head Light
Product Information
The PT-EML Series Emergency Lighting System is a reliable and efficient lighting solution for use during electrical power failures. The system comes with LED lamps that automatically turn on during power outages and can provide backup lighting for a minimum of 90 minutes. The system must be tested monthly for at least 30 seconds and annually for 90 minutes in accordance with NFPA 101 regulations. The system must be installed by qualified personnel and should not be used for anything other than its intended use. It is important to read and follow all instructions and warnings carefully to avoid any risk of death, serious injury or significant property damage.
**PRODUCT Installation Instructions
**
Before installation, it is important to turn off the power supply from the main circuit breaker. Follow the instructions below for proper installation:
J-Box Mounting
- The feed fixture leads through the back plate and connects the AC power supply (Fig A).
- Connect wires through J-Box. Mount the back plate on J-Box and secure it with screws.
- Connect the battery only after continuous AC power can be provided to the unit (Fig B).
- Align snaps and push housing directly onto the main bottom case (Fig C).
- Apply continuous AC power and press the TEST button to check the light.
Conduit Mounting
- Secure the back plate to the wall surface. Route wires through holes in the conduit flange and make conduit connection.
- Connect the battery only after continuous AC power can be provided to the unit (Fig B).
- Align snaps and push housing directly onto a back plate (Fig C).
- Apply continuous AC power and press the TEST button to check light.
Operation Instructions
- During an electrical power failure, the LED lamps will automatically come on for a minimum of 90 minutes.
- To test, depress the TEST switch. The emergency LED lamps will illuminate. When the switch is released, the lamps will go off.
Important Safety Precautions
When using the PT-EML Series Emergency Lighting System, the following safety precautions should always be followed:
- Do not use outdoors.
- Equipment should be mounted in locations and at heights where it will not be subject to tampering by unauthorized personnel.
- Do not mount near gas or electric heaters.
- The use of accessory equipment not recommended by the manufacturer may cause an unsafe condition.
- Do not use this equipment for anything other than its intended use.
- Servicing of this equipment should be performed by qualified personnel.
- Disconnect AC power before servicing.
Warnings
Failure to follow the instructions and warnings may result in death,
serious injury or significant property damage. For your protection, read and
follow these warnings and instructions carefully before installing or
maintaining this equipment. These instructions do not attempt to cover all
installation and maintenance situations. If you do not understand these
instructions or additional information is required, contact the manufacturer.
The lamps are hot. Keep combustible material away from hot parts. Observe lamp
manufacturers’ warnings, recommendations, and restrictions on lamp operation
and maintenance. Make sure lamps are correctly installed. NEVER CONNECT TO,
DISCONNECT FROM, OR SERVICE WHILE EQUIPMENT IS ENERGIZED.
IMPORTANT
Let the battery charge up for at least 24 hours. Then normal operation of this
unit should take effect. To check, press the” TEST “button. The LED lamps on
the unit should tum ON. During an electrical power failure, the led lamps will
automatically come on for a minimum of 90 minutes. In accordance with NFPA
101, your emergency lighting system must be tested monthly for a minimum of 30
seconds and annually for 90 minutes. Refer lo your local codes for any
additional requirements that may apply.

INSTALLATION
(ALWAYS TURN OFF THE POWER SUPPLY FROM MAIN CIRCUIT BREAKER FIRST!)
NOTE
- Unused wires must be capped using enclosed wire nuts.

- Secure back plate to wall surface. Route wires through hole in conduit flange and make conduit connection.
- Connect battery only after continuous AC power can be provided to the unit (Fig B).
- Align snaps and push housing directly onto back plat (Fig C). Apply continuous AC power and press “TEST” button to check light.
WIRING DIAGRAM
OPERATION
- DURING AN ELECTRICAL POWER FAILURE, THE LED LAMPS WILL AUTOMATICALLY COME ON FOR A MINIMUM OF 90 MINUTES.
- TO TEST, DEPRESS THE ”TEST” SWITCH. THE EMERGENCY LED LAMPS WILL ILLUMINATE. WHEN THE SWITCH IS RELEASED THE, LAMPS WILL GO OFF.
NOTE:
Use 18-22 AWG stranded wire to connect remote lamp heads.
