IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS

When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and/or injury to persons, including the following:

  1. Read all instructions.
  2. This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge unless they are closely supervised and instructed concerning the use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety.
  3. Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near children. Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.
  4. Do not touch hot surfaces or hot water. Use handles or knobs. Care must be taken since burns can occur from touching hot parts or from spilled hot liquid.
  5. To protect against fire, electric shock, and personal injury, do not immerse the cord, plug, or appliance in water or other liquid.
  6. To protect against electric shock, unplug from the outlet when filling, when not in use, and before cleaning.
  7. The hot pot must be operated on a flat surface away from the edge of counter to prevent accidental tipping.
  8. Unplug from the outlet when not in use and before cleaning. Allow cooling before putting on or taking off parts, and before cleaning the appliance.
  9. Do not operate any appliance with a damaged supply cord or plug, or after the appliance malfunctions or has been dropped or damaged in any manner. Supply cord replacement and repairs must be conducted by the manufacturer, its service agent, or similarly qualified persons in order to avoid a hazard. Contact Customer Service for information on examination, repair, or adjustment as set forth in the Limited Warranty.
  10. The use of attachments not recommended or sold by the appliance manufacturer may cause fire, electric shock, or personal injury.
  11. Do not use outdoors.
  12. Do not let the cord hang over the edge of the table or counter, or touch hot surfaces, including the stove.
  13. Do not place on or near a hot gas or electric burner, or in a heated oven.
  14. Extreme caution must be used when moving an appliance containing hot oil or other hot liquids.
  15. To protect against electric shock, unplug from the outlet when filling, when not in use, and before cleaning.
  16. To prevent burns, allow cooling before cleaning.
  17. Do not allow the hot pot to boil dry.
  18. To avoid possible steam damage, turn the spout away from walls or cabinets during use; use a protective pad under the hot pot to prevent damage to wood finishes.
  19. To disconnect, remove the plug from the wall outlet. Never pull on the cord as this may damage the cord and eventually cause an electric shock.
  20. Scalding may occur if the lid is removed during the heating cycle.
  21. Be sure the lid is securely snapped in place before turning the hot pot on and during use. Allow cooling before removing the lid. To remove the lid, lift it straight up.
  22. WARNING! To reduce the risk of fire, do not heat flammable liquids or solids like wax, lard, oil, gas, alcohol, or the like.
  23. Do not use appliances for other than intended use.
  24. Avoid sudden temperature changes, such as adding refrigerated foods into a heated pot.

OTHER CONSUMER SAFETY INFORMATION

This appliance is intended for household use only.
This appliance is only intended for the preparation, cooking, and serving of food. This appliance is not intended for use with any nonfood materials or products.
WARNING Electrical Shock Hazard: This appliance is provided with a polarized plug (one wide blade) to reduce the risk of electric shock. The plug fits only one way into a polarized outlet. Do not defeat the safety purpose of the plug by modifying the plug in any way or by using an adapter. If the plug does not fit fully into the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, have an electrician replace the outlet.
The length of the cord used on this appliance was selected to reduce the hazards of becoming tangled in or tripping over a longer cord. If a longer cord is necessary, an approved extension cord may be used. The electrical rating of the extension cord must be equal to or greater than the rating of the appliance. Care must be taken to arrange the extension cord so that it will not drape over the countertop or tabletop where it can be pulled on by children or accidentally tripped over.
To avoid an electrical circuit overload, do not use another high-wattage appliance on the same circuit as this appliance.
WARNING Burn Hazard: To avoid burns and reduce the risk of personal injury, use extreme caution when carrying a hot pot containing hot liquids. Do not pour in the direction of people or over people.

Heating Chart

Contents **Heating Times***
Min Fill: 1 cup/8 oz. (237 ml) 3 minutes
Max Fill: 4 cups/32 oz. (946 ml) 9 minutes
Liquid-Based Canned Foods 2 to 6 minutes
Soups 3 to 4 minutes

*Times listed are for the Boil setting with the lid on.
Helpful Hints

  • When heating soups, stews, and solid, liquid-based foods, stir occasionally.
  • Clean the pot as soon as it has cooled. Once food has dried onto the surface, it is more difficult to remove.
  • When heating milk or cheese-based soups, set the control knob to the middle heat setting to prevent scorching. Stir often.

If Your Hot Pot Boils Dry

If your hot pot is accidentally plugged in without being filled with liquid or food or is allowed to boil dry, the hot pot will cycle continuously, turning off, cooling down, and turning back on. You should:

  1. Unplug the hot pot and wait about 15 minutes for the heater to cool down.
  2. Refill the hot pot; then use it as normal and check that the hot pot functions correctly.

Cleaning the Hot Pot

WARNING Electrical Shock Hazard. To prevent the risk of electric shock, do not immerse a hot pot, cord, or plug in water or other liquid.

  1. With the hot pot unplugged, empty out any remaining liquid or food.
  2. Wash inside of the hot pot with warm, soapy water and rinse with warm water after each use. Do the same with the cover.
  3. Do not clean the heating surface with an abrasive scouring pad or powder; doing so will damage the nonstick coating.
  4. To clean the exterior of the hot pot, wipe it with a damp cloth. Do not use abrasive scouring pads or powders since they may scratch the surface of the hot pot.
  5. To avoid scale/lime deposit buildup, empty water out of the hot pot after each use.
    • Never immerse a hot pot in water or other liquids.
    • Never overfill the hot pot. Do not allow water or liquid to run over top or downsides.
