Gunshot Detection
S1 Single Sensor
Quick Start Guide Rev 1.0
Simple. Scalable. Secure.
Introduction
Gunshot Detection from 3xLOGIC is a sensor that detects the shockwave /
concussive signature of any gun caliber. It detects up to 75 feet in all
unobstructed directions or 150 feet in diameter. The smaller directional
sensor that detects the strongest signal determines the source of the gunshot.
The sensor is a stand-alone product that can send gunshot detection
information using its on-board processors to a variety of host systems
including alarm panels, central stations, video management systems, access
control systems and other critical notification systems. No other equipment
is necessary for the sensor to identify a gunshot. It is a self-contained
device that can complement any security system. 3xLOGIC Gunshot Detection can
be used as a single device or is scalable in design and deployments can
include an unlimited number of sensors.
Note: Gunshot Detection must be installed and configured by 3xLOGIC
authorized technicians only.
Hardware
The Gunshot Detection S1 Single Sensor units have two variations.
2.1 Available Units
- Weather Resistant Aluminum Indoor/Outdoor model in Gray
- ABS Fade Resistant Plastic Indoor Model in White
2.2 Box Contents
S1 Unit
Corner Mount Bracket
Antenna (Aluminum Unit Only)
This antenna must be installed on the top of the unit.
Connection
Connect the S1 Unit to Power and the Alarm Panel.
The power cable and relay contacts are connected to the 8 Pin Quick Connector
on the board in the back of the unit pictured below.
Warning: Please insure correct polarity.
A voltage range from 12v – 14v DC is acceptable. Connect the Alarm Relay to
the Alarm Panel utilizing the NC or NO and C connection denoted on the board.
Note: The installation wiring should have a Gauge of AWG 22 to 20.
As annotated above, polarity and connections are denoted on the internal
board, with a configuration of: (NO C NC) (NO C NC) 12- 12+
Optional: Connect the Trouble Relay to supervise the power of the unit by
connecting to the Trouble NC or NO and C connection denoted on the board.
Mounting
The unit can be mounted to the wall or ceiling.
4.1 Ceiling Mount
When mounting to ceiling, utilize the two holes on the back of the unit and
secure to a standard single-gang electrical box.
4.2 Wall Mount
When mounting to the wall, it is recommended using the corner mounting bracket
provided in the box. However, the unit may be installed on a flat wall with
the understanding the sensor has a 160° detection area.
- Install the unit onto the mounting bracket before placing bracket on the wall.
- Install two mounting screws in the wall. Leave .25 inches of screw shaft to slide the mounting bracket onto.
Testing
The S1 can be put into test mode 2 ways:
Utilizing a magnet placed under the sensor hole on the front of the unit.
Utilizing the TSTU device (Part # STU01, sold separately).
5.1 Initiate Test
Test Mode is indicated by the blue light blinking 3 times then blinking every
.5 seconds. At this time an air horn can be used to test the unit. When the
unit detects the air horn, the blue light will stay on for 5 seconds.
5.2 Reset
To turn off test mode, place magnet below the sensor hole again. Standard
operation mode will be indicated by the blue light blinking 3 times then a
green light only after the unit resets.
