brother MFC-L6800DW All in One Monochrome Laser Printer
Product Information
The Brother MFC-L6800DW is an office equipment device that has been awarded the eco-label Blue Angel for its environmental characteristics such as energy efficiency, compliance with legal regulations, and use of recycled paper. The device is designed for use in a business environment and comes with a guarantee of repair service and spare part supply for a period of five years from the end of manufacture. The machine incorporates an auto duplex unit for double-sided printing and N-up printing to save paper and toner. The device contains a recycled content of approximately 0-1% by weight of its plastic parts.
Product Usage
Before using the Brother MFC-L6800DW, ensure that you have read and understood the user manual. The device is designed for use in a business environment and can use recycled paper produced in accordance with European standard EN 12281.
Double-Sided (Duplex) Printing
The machine incorporates an auto duplex unit for double-sided printing. To use this feature, select “Duplex” in the print settings. Refer to the Online User’s Guide for further details.
N-Up Printing
To print or copy multiple pages of a document, N pages (for example, 2 or 4 pages) can be printed on one side of the paper using N-Up printing. This feature helps to save paper and toner. Refer to the Online User’s Guide for further details.
Toner Cartridge Handling
Do not forcibly open the toner cartridge. If toner spillage is caused by incorrect handling, avoid skin contact and swallowing of the toner. If toner gets into the eye, rinse your eyes immediately with water and see a doctor. If toner gets on hands or clothing, wash immediately with soap or detergent. Toner cartridges must not get into the hands of children.
Power Management
The device is designed and adjusted to save energy. After the last print, it switches to the Ready state. From this mode, it can immediately print again. If no further printouts are required, the device turns to the next energy- saving state after a certain time, the so-called activation time. In this mode, it needs less power (watts).
General Information
Increasing resource efficiency, avoiding pollution and waste, climate protection and reducing energy consumption are important environmental objectives. The eco-label Blue Angel for office equipment with print function can be awarded to devices characterized by the following environmental characteristics:
- Durable and recyclable construction;
- Prevention and reduction of materials that are harmful to the environment and to health;
- Low energy consumption;
- Low emissions of noise and pollutants;
- Compliance with the legal regulations of German and European law is presupposed for the products marked with the eco-label.

Information of Power Management
Power consumption
How much power a device consumes depends on its properties as well as on the
way in which it is used. The device is designed and adjusted so that you can
save energy. After the last print, it switches to the Ready state. From this
mode, it can immediately print again. If no further printouts are required,
the device turns to the next energy-saving state after a certain time, the so-
called activation time. In this mode, it needs less power (watts). The device
will take some more time to print again from an electric power saving mode
than from the mode “Ready”. This delay is called return time which is quite
long for some devices. The device, however, fulfills the strict Blue Angel
requirements for the return time (https://www.blauer-engel.de). It only
takes three seconds, for example, to return from Deep Sleep mode to Ready mode
for printing. This is only a short moment for you but it will help you to save
electricity and hence operating costs if the device is pausing (hence, during
no-load operation). The device is designed in such a way that switching it on
and off up to twice a day to the plug-in off mode will not cause damage. You
find the single values of power consumption as well as of activation and
return times in the table below. The values stated there are pre-set when the
device is delivered. The device meets the Blue Angel requirements with these
values.
Summary of the Operating Modes
- Print speed based on ISO/IEC 24734 monochrome printing: 46 ipm
- Copy speed based on ISO/IEC 24735 monochrome copying: 46 ipm

- Average values, measured without accessories.
- These values also apply if the device is connected to a wired data network.
- The activation time is the time that elapses after the end of the printing process until the device switches to the mode. The numbers in brackets indicate the range in which you can set the activation time.
- Recovery time is the amount of time it takes to return to Ready mode.
- The activation time may be longer. It depends upon the machine environment.
- 1 With the Auto Off function, the unit is turned off 1 (default), 2, 4, or 8 hours after entering
- Deep Sleep mode. When set to OFF, the unit remains in Deep sleep mode and is not switched off. (only the machine with the Fax function) The machine will not power off automatically when the machine is connected to a fax line.
Energy Consumption
The standard usage cycle according to ENERGY STAR® version 3.0 assumes 32 print jobs with 33 pages each per working day, simplex at monochrome printing, i.e. 1056 pages/day. This results in electric power consumption of 0.61 kWh/week (a 7-day week with 5 working days with 8 hours each) in the standard usage cycle according to ENERGY STAR® version 3.0. The value was measured with the above-mentioned settings (delivery status). Regarding the electric power saving modes you can partly change their activation times. If you shorten an activation time, the device will faster switch over to an electric power- saving mode and you will save electricity costs. If you, however, want to extend an activation time, please consider: the device will then switch down later or not at all. Thus, it will stay longer in a mode of increased power consumption and, hence, consume more electric power. Then, in addition, it might no longer meet the maximum value for electric power consumption of the Blue Angel. We recommend not extending the activation times. The machine will always use some power whilst connected to the AC outlet. For zero power consumption, the machine should be unplugged from the AC outlet.
