Aqua Stop – the float switch
With pumped pond systems, in particular, there is always a risk that the
entire contents of the pond will be pumped out due to a slipped or damaged
hose. If discovered too late, this can result in the loss of the fish
population.
Experience has shown that such a catastrophe always happens when nobody is
around, in the worst case even at night. With a normal water circulation rate
of 2– 3 hours, a pond can be expected to be accidentally pumped dry and the
pond stock dead within 6 hours.
The Aqua Stop is an ideal and inexpensive solution to prevent such a situation
in an uncomplicated and successful manner.
Function
The pond pump is connected to the Aqua Stop. The pump began to empty the pond due to a defective hose, and the float of the Aqua Stop sinks together with the water level. At a specified depth, the float switch automatically switches off the current flow of the pond pump. This successfully prevents the pond from being pumped dry and the pond stock from being lost. The previously determined water level (see installation) remains in the pond.
Installation
The pump plug is plugged into the coupling or socket of the Aqua Stop, and the
plug of the Aqua Stop is plugged into the main socket. The Aqua Stop float
switch controls the current flow of the socket to which the pond pump is
connected.
The cable connecting the float to the Aqua Stop is fixed in the pond at a
point below the water level so that the float floats on the water surface.
With this specified point, the height of the water level is determined from
which the pump should be switched off automatically by the Aqua Stop. As soon
as the float sinks together with the water level approx. 5–10 cm below the
height of the attachment point, the power supply is automatically interrupted.
Remarks
A large distance between the water surface and the attachment point allows large fluctuations in the water level, while a small distance can switch off the pond pump if water is lost by just a few centimeters. Too small a distance is not advisable, especially in the summer months, as water level fluctuations can quickly occur due to evaporation in the hot season. Here it should be avoided that the pump is automatically switched off too quickly simply due to evaporation due to too small a fastening distance, especially when the pond requires optimal circulation.
Do not dispose of it together with the normal household garbage
