Flexible Range Indoor Detector

The Flexible Range Indoor Detector, FlipX series is a standard model that comes with a wide/narrow area PIR flip lens and a microwave mounting bracket. It is available in different models such as FLX-S-ST, FLX-S-ST-BKT, FLX-S-DT-X5, FLX-S-DT-X5-BKT, FLX-S-DT-X8, and FLX-S-DT-X9. The FLX-S-DT-X5 and FLX-S-DT-X5-BKT models operate at 10.525GHz while the FLX-S-DT-X8 operates at 10.587GHz and the FLX-S-DT-X9 operates at 9.425GHz. The product is not certified to INCERT, SBSC, EN 50131-2-2 (FLX-S-ST-BKT)/EN 50131-2-4 (FLX-S-DT-X5-BKT/X9), and UL.

Before Installation

Before installation, please read the manufacturer’s statement and identify the parts required for installation. Pay attention to the symbols provided in the manual. Installation

To install the Flexible Range Indoor Detector, follow the steps below:

Disassemble the product
Mount the product on the wall without the bracket or with the bracket
Assemble and connect the product

Settings

The Flexible Range Indoor Detector comes with jumper pin settings and a wide/narrow setting. Please refer to the manual for instructions on how to set these.

Checking

After installation, it is important to check the product to ensure that it is functioning properly. Please refer to the manual for instructions on how to check the product.

Disassemble

Unlock the cover
Open the cover
Remove the main unit

Wall mount without bracket

Wire through the base
- How to break the knockouts
Mount the base

NOTE

Mounting screws are not included. Φ 3 mm screws are recommended.

Wall mount with bracket

Wire and mount on the wall
Join the base on the bracket

NOTE

Adjust the detection direction while jointing. Confirming with a walk test is required. –> Refer to “3-1. Walk test”
Fix the base with the fixing screws (optional)

Ceiling mount with bracket

How to change the bracket to the ceiling mounting

Loosen the fixing screw.
Rotate the body.
Tighten the fixing screw.

Wire and mount on the ceiling

NOTE: See page 4 for how to break the knockouts.

Join the base on the bracket

NOTE: Adjust the detection direction while jointing. Confirming with a walk test is required. –> Refer to “3-1. Walk test”

NOTE: Mounting screws are not included. Φ 3 mm screws are recommended.

Fix the base with the fixing screws (optional)

Assemble and connect

Attach the main unit to the base
Connect wires to the terminal

Settings

Jumper pin settings

Wide/Narrow setting

Set the Flip lens to “Wide” or “Narrow”

Go to 2-2 to skip 2-19 when using the default “Wide” setting. OPTEX-FLX-S-ST-

NOTE: Install the lens so that the letters on the cover and on the lens match your intention.

How to remove the lens

Caution

Be careful not to damage the light path of the LED. Also, be careful not to allow the light path to pinch the wiring when closing the cover.

Be careful not to damage the lens with a screwdriver.

How to install the lens

Set the jumper pin to “Wide” or “Narrow”

Caution

The jumper pin must be “Narrow” when the lens is set to “Narrow” .

NOTE

The default setting is “Wide”.
When “Narrow” is selected, MW detection will be disabled.

Checking

Walk test

Confirm that the LED pin is “ON” , then close the cover.
Walk in the detection area to check the detecting performance via LED indication.
Return the LED pin to “OFF” after the walk test, if necessary.
Lock the cover

NOTE
Conduct a walk test at least once a year.
