Product Information

The Penclic Mini Keyboard is a keyboard that combines ergonomically sound design with modern keyboard technology to provide comfort and efficiency. It comes with a Caps Lock Indicator, USB/Bluetooth Connection Indicator, Bluetooth Status Indicator, Power, Charging, and Battery Power Indicator, Power switch, Micro USB port, and Function list of escape and function key row. It supports Android, iOS, OSX, and Windows operating systems.

Product Usage Instructions

To use the Penclic Mini Keyboard, follow the below instructions:

  1. Connect the keyboard to your device using Bluetooth or USB cable.
  2. Select your operating system after connecting to the device.
  3. Use the Function list of escape and function key row to perform various actions on your device.
  4. Use the Caps Lock Indicator to know whether the Caps Lock is on or off.
  5. Use the USB/Bluetooth Connection Indicator to switch between wired and wireless connections.
  6. Use the Power, Charging, and Battery Power Indicator to know the power status of the keyboard.
  7. To turn on the keyboard, move the Power switch to the right side.
  8. Use the Micro USB port for wired connection and charging.
  9. To know the battery status of the keyboard, press Fn + Battery Power key. The flashing green light indicates the battery status (One Flash 25% charge, Two Flashes 50% charge, Three Flashes 75% charge, Four Flashes 100% charge).

Note: The keyboard doesn’t support Windows Mobile. The Caps Lock indicator may not light up for Android users but will still function normally. While connected to an iOS or OSX device, the red printing is used. The PC standard layout and Apple standard layout are slightly different.

Description

  4. Power switch, move right (left in the picture) to turn on.
  5. Micro USB port, for wired connection and charging

Light function description

  1. Caps Lock Indicator: The blue light will be on.

  2. USB / Bluetooth state indicator:
    Press the”Fn + ” switch to a wireless connection. Light will turn blue.
    Press the”Fn + ”switch to the wired connection when the cable is connected. Light will turn green.
    Bluetooth connects status indicator: Blue light will flash after pressing the ”Fn + ” keys together.

  3. Power Indicator: Slide the power button to right side, the power indicator will turn green. Charging Indicator: Red light whilst charging, turns off once fully charged.

Battery power display indicator.
Press ”Fn + ” to show battery status. Status indication: Flashing green. ( Each flash represents 25% battery. One Flash 25% charge. Two Flashes, 50% charge. Three Flashes, 75% charge. Four Flashes, 100% charge)

Special Note:

  1. This keyboard doesn’t support Windows Mobile.
  2. For Android users: The Caps Lock indicator may not light up, but will still function normally.
  3. While connected to an iOS or OSX device, the red printing is used. PC standard layout and Apple standard layout are slightly different

Bluetooth and wired function introduction

  1. Bluetooth wireless connection: Fit for devices with Bluetooth function. Like tablets, smartphones, etc.
  2. USB wired connection: Fit for devices whitch can be connected with USB cable, like notebooks, PC, etc.
  3. Micro-USB cable. Wired mode: connect with desktops and notebooks, sync and charging function. The wireless mode: charging for the keyboard.

Pairing with tablets and phones

  1. Step 1. Slide the Power switch to right side, to turn on the keyboard, power light will turn green for 10 seconds. Note the State light should be blue.
    Optional step. If the State light is green when power is switched on, press the”Fn + ” key to change to Bluetooth state.

  2. Step 2. Pairing: Hold Fn key then press bluetooth channel 1 or 2 for 2 seconds to activate pairing mode. LED will blink blue. Press the ”Fn + ” Keys together to enter pairing mode. The Bluetooth light will start to blink blue.

  3. Step 3. On the iPad, select: Settings- Bluetooth-On.

  4. Step 4. The iPad will display “Penclic Mini Keyboard KB3” as an available device.

  5. Step 5. Select “Penclic Mini Keyboard KB3” on the iPad, and click on it, the keyboard will now be paired to iPad and the Bluetooth indicator will turn off.

  6. Step 6. Press the”Fn + ” keys on the keyboard switch to the iOS operating system setting.

Pairing with desktop (Bluetooth)

  1. Step 1. Slide the Power switch to right side, to turn on the keyboard, the power light will turn green for 10 seconds. Note the State light should be blue.
    Optional step. If the State light is green when power is switched on, press the”Fn + ” key to change to Bluetooth state.

  3. Step 3. On your device, go to “settings”. Activate its Bluetooth function and search for the keyboard device..

  5. Step 5. Select “Penclic Mini Keyboard KB3” on your device, click on it, the keyboard will now be paired to your device and the Bluetooth indicator will turn off.

  6. Step 6. Choose your operating system.

Switching between already paired Bluetooth devices:
Hold Fn then tap 1 or 2 key to switch between already paired devices. Switching time depends on the device.

Pairing with desktop (cable)
Connect the micro USB charge cable. LED will turn green or red depending on charge status.

Hold Fn key then press 3. The LED will turn green if the connection to the computer is ok.

Note for wireless mode

  1. For other Bluetooth-enabled devices, please verify the Bluetooth capability before attempting to connect to the keyboard.
  2. After pairing for the first time, your device will automatically connect to the keyboard automatically when powering on or waking up the keyboard. Unless the keyboard has been paired with something else.
  3. In case of connection failure, Delete the pairing record from your device and try the above procedures again.

Changing keyboard layout (chosen in the operating system)
Samsung Android: Skift + Space
Google Android: Ctrl + Space
Windows: Alt + skift
iOS 8: +Space
iOS 9: Ctrl + Space

Power saving mode (bluetooth mode)
The Keyboard will enter sleep mode after being idle for 30 minutes. To activate it, press any key and wait for 3 seconds to reconnect.

How to charge

1. Use the included Micro-USB cable for charging. Connect one end to a USB charger or port, and the other to the keyboard. The keyboard can be used while charging.
2. Whilst charging, the power indicator will turn red. Approximately 2 hours until fully charged. (USB charger is not included, but cable to USB port works)

Battery life tip
When not in use for a prolonged period of time, it is recommended that the keyboard is turned off to lengthen the battery life.

Troubleshooting for wireless mode

If you are unable to connect the keyboard, please try the following:

  1. Make sure the keyboard is in Bluetooth mode. State indicator light is blue when keyboard is powered on. Press “FN+ ” switch to wireless connection.
  2. Starting with a full charge on both devices ensures that process won´t be interrupted by low battery.
  3. Make sure your devices Bluetooth is on.
  4. Make sure that the keyboard is within the effective operation distance of 10 meters. (line of sight, walls etc. will reduce operational range)

Troubleshooting for wired mode
Make sure that the keyboard is in wired mode. Press “FN+ ” switch to wired connection, State indicator light should be green.
Safety instructions

  1. Keep the keyboard away from sharp objects that could damage it.
  2. Do not put heavy objects on the keyboard.
  3. Do not stretch, twist or apply force to the keyboard.
  4. To clean the keyboard, gently wipe it by using a moist cotton cloth.
  5. Make sure the keyboard is turned off before cleaning. Do not use liquid cleanser.
  6. Please do not spill liquids on the keyboard.
  7. Avoid extreme hot and cold temperatures.
