Product Information

High Precision Optical Fiber Cleaver

The High Precision Optical Fiber Cleaver is a tool used for cutting optical fibers with precision. It consists of the following components:

  • Main Body
  • Fiber Holder
  • Pressing Board
  • Cover
  • Cutting-Edge Rubber Pad
  • Blade Carriage
  • Blade

The product is designed to be easy to use and provides high precision cutting of optical fibers.

Product Usage Instructions

Step 1: Open the body cover and put the stripped fiber on the v-groove. Make sure that the cleave length is set as per operator’s intended length.

Step 2: Push the Blade Carriage to the back, then close the pressing board to fix the fiber.

Step 3: Close the cover and make sure that the end of the fiber is sticking out of the rubber pad exactly in a straight line.

Step 4: Push the blade carriage to the front until it stops.

Step 5: Open the cover of the body. Take out the cleaved fiber with care in order not to bring harm to the end face of fiber.

Step 6: For continuous operation, remove the cleaved fiber and repeat steps 1-5. In this process, be careful not to get injured by the cutting edge.

Blade Replacement & Blade Position Adjustment

A. Blade Adjustment:

  1. Release the center setscrews around Cam not much.
  2. Rotate the blade to the anti-clockwise direction. Choose the next spot. The blade is originally fixed on position 1. Treat the blade with care not to touch the tip of the blade.

B. Blade Height Adjustment:

  1. Hold the cleaver body. Release the 2 setscrews around Cam.
  2. Small rotate the setscrew on the left side as figure shown. (When clockwise direction, the height up/when anti-clockwise direction, the height down)
  3. Put the stripped fiber into the fiber holder and then close the pressing board. Move the blade back and forth until the blade can be touched the fiber a little, not much. If not ok, Cam repeat step 2 to adjust the blade height.
  4. When ok, fasten the 2 setscrews around Cam.

C. Blade Replacement:

  1. Release the center setscrews. Remove the old blade to replace with a new blade.
  2. Repeat Blade Height Adjustment.
  3. Fasten the 2 setscrews around Cam.

Note: Please do not fasten the fiber cleaver with screws that are not original by yourself.

Usage and Safety Regulation

  • Read this description, before using Cleaver and keep description with Cleaver
  • Using Cleaver, please be cautious of the following particulars and prevent your body and property from harm and use carefully and usefully
  • Keep Cleaver away from water.
  • Place Cleaver away from humid and dusty places.
  • High temperature causes transforming, so keep it in normal temperature.
  • Be careful with serious impact on it.
  • Be sure that the stripped fiber length should be at least 12mm or longer.
  • Clean the Cutting-Edge Rubber Pad regularly with alcohol. Try not to use acetone or corrosive solvent when you clean the rubber pad.
  • Keep the fiber holder clean to ensure no dust in it.

Operation Procedure of the Product

  1. Open the body cover and put the stripped fiber on the v-groove. And make sure that the cleave length is set as per operators’ intended length
  2. Push the Blade Carriage to the back, then close the pressing board to fix the fiber.
  3. Close the cover and make sure that the end of the fiber is sticking out of the rubber pad exactly in a straight line
  4. Push the blade carriage to the front until it stops.
  5. Open the cover of the body. Take out the cleaved fiber with care in order not to bring the harm to the end face of fiber.
  6. For the continuous operation, remove the cleaved fiber, repeat the step 1 ~ 5. In this process, be careful not to get injured by the cutting edge.

Blade Replacement & Blade Position Adjustment

  • The cutting spots from 1 to 12 are marked on the blade.
  • When it does not cleave the fiber normally, clean the rubber pad and the edge of the blade with an-soaked swap. (But do not use acetoneor solvent when you clean the rubber pad.)
  • However, if it still does not cleave the fiber properly, it means the cutting spot edge is fully used. So, you need to change the cleaving position. Change the spot and the position according to the followingorder when you need.

A. Blade Adjustment (Cutting spot marked on the blade, 1 ~ 12)

  1. Release the center setscrews around Cam not much.
  2. Rotate the blade to the anti-clockwise direction. Choose the next spot. The blade is originally fixed on “position 1”. Treat the blade with care not to touch the tip of the blade.

B. Blade Height Adjustment

  1. Hold the cleaver body. Release the 2 setscrews around Cam
If not ok, repeat the step 2, to adjust the blade height. When ok, Fasten the 2 setscrews around Cam.

C. Blade Replacement

  1. Release the center setscrews. Remove the old blade to replace to new blade.
  2. Repeat the Blade Height Adjustment
  3. Fasten the 2 setscrews around Cam

Note: Please do not fasten the fiber cleaver with screws that are not original by yourself
