OB1000 Tie Bar For Outboard Motors
The tie bar can be used to couple 2 outboard motors together, each with
maximum power of 220 kW (300 hp), so that they will be turned through the same
angle when the steering wheel is operated.
The bar heads can form a maximum angle of 15˚.
Determine the distance between the centre lines (A) of the two motors. Take account of the tracking either inwards or outwards as prescribed by the manufacturer.
Saw the threaded rod (L1) and the tube (L2) to the correct length and smooth off the sawn surfaces.
- Fit the rod head (S1) to the threaded rod (L1); screw in length is 25 mm!
- Fit the tube (L2) over the threaded rod.
- Put on the nut (M) and tighten this up using the torque stated.
- Fit the rod head (S2); screw in length 22 mm!
The play of 3 and 3 – 6 mm respectively is necessary in order to be able to turn the head of the rod relative to the threaded end.
Tighten the 3/8″-24 UNF bolts using the torque stated.
