Frequently Asked Questions
Can you scan multiple pages from the top tray?
Yes, it works very well to produce multi-page PDFs.
Does the printer have lan connection (wired LAN cable)?
The printer has a socket for an ethernet cable but you will have to provide a cable of a suitable length to connect it to your network router or switch. Since this printer is wifi enabled, it seems that the manufacturer assumes that you will use that as your first choice and, in the UK at least, does not include an ethernet cable.
Can you print via a USB connection or does it only print wirelessly?
If you check the specifications on your retailers or Brother website you will find it has a USB 2.0 (Type A) connection available, but wireless is much simpler. No USB lead is supplied so you would need to purchase a suitable lead should you want a wired connection.
Does it Print in color?
It is Mono, so print the color in black or grey.
Can I print from an iPad Air to this printer?
Yes, should be fine. We print to it from an iMac, MacBook, iPad Air, and iPhone.
Does it print 2-sided on A5 paper?
This printer will only automatically print 2-sided onto A4.
Can it print envelopes?
Yes, this printer can print onto Envelopes.
Does it print 30 copies in a minute?
It depends on some factors. It can print 30ppm at the most optimal. condition.
Is this compatible with a mac?
Yes! This printer is supported on Mac from OSX 10.10 to the latest version macOS 10.14.
Does it work with apple silicon m1 processors?
Yes. I am using it with an M1 iMac and OSX 12.6. Note there is no Mac driver and you will have to download Brother iPrint&Scan. It’s a nice printer.
