Product Usage Instructions:

• Before using the OPV425 Plate Compactor, carefully read and
  understand the Safety and Operations sections of the user manual to
  ensure safe and proper usage of the machine.

• If any damaged or missing parts are found, please contact DK2
  Customer Service or visit their website for free replacement of the
  parts. Do not return the machine to the store.

• Wear necessary protective equipment such as gloves, safety
  glasses, and ear protection to prevent possible injury.

• The OPV425 Plate Compactor is designed solely for compacting
  purposes and must not be used for any other purposes.

• When using the machine, keep hands and feet away from the
  vibrating plate at all times to avoid serious injury.

• Ensure that the oil level is at full capacity before operating
  the machine. Refer to the user manual for instructions on checking
  and refilling the oil.

• Position the machine on a level surface and start the engine
  per the instructions in the user manual.

• Slowly move the machine forward while applying pressure to the
  handle to compact the surface. Repeat until the desired level of
  compaction is achieved.

• After use, turn off the engine and allow the machine to cool
  down before storing it in a cool, dry place.

recommend wearing them. DO NOT use this machine while barefoot or wearing open-toed footwear. · Wear long pants while operating the machine. · Always keep bystanders at least 50 feet away from your work area. Stop the engine when another person or pet approaches.

Tragic accidents can occur if the operator is not alert to the presence of children and pets. Children are often attracted to the machine and its activity. watchful care of a responsible adult. · Be alert and turn the machine off if children or pets enter the work area. · Never allow children to operate the machine.
WARNING: SAFETY WITH GASOLINE
Gasoline is a highly flammable liquid. Gasoline also gives off a flammable vapor that can be easily ignited and cause a fire or explosion. Never overlook the hazards of gasoline. Always follow these precautions. · Never run the engine in an enclosed area or without proper ventilation as the exhaust from
the engine contains carbon monoxide, which is an odorless, tasteless, and deadly poisonous gas. · Store all fuel and oil in containers specifically designed and approved for this purpose and keep away from heat and open flame. · Replace rubber fuel lines and grommets when worn or damaged and after 5 years of use. · Fill the gasoline tank outdoors with the engine off and allow the engine to cool completely. Don’t handle gasoline if you or anyone nearby is smoking, or if you’re near anything that could cause it to ignite or explode. Reinstall the fuel tank cap and fuel container cap securely. · If you spill gasoline, DO NOT attempt to start the engine. Move the machine away from the area of the spill and avoid creating any source of ignition until the gas vapors have dissipated. Wipe up any spilled fuel to prevent a fire hazard and properly dispose of the

that has gas in the tank, or a fuel container, near an open flame or spark such as a water heater, space heater, clothes dryer, or furnace. · Never adjust or repair with the engine running. Shut down the engine, disconnect the spark plug wire, keeping it away from the spark plug to prevent accidental starting, wait 5 minutes before adjusting or repairing. · Never tamper with the engine’s governor setting. The governor controls the maximum safe operation speed and protects the engine. Over-speeding the engine is dangerous and will cause damage to the engine and to the other moving parts of the machine. If required, see your authorized dealer for engine governor adjustments. · Keep combustible substances away from the engine while it is hot. · Never cover the engine while the muffler is still hot. · DO NOT operate the engine with the air cleaner or the carburetor air intake cover removed. Removal of such parts could create a fire hazard. DO NOT use flammable solutions to clean the air filter. · The muffler and engine become very hot and can cause a sever burn; DO NOT touch.

Always take the following precautions when operating. · Your machine is a powerful tool, not a plaything. Exercise extreme caution always. The
machine is designed to compact. DO NOT use it for any other purpose. · Know how to stop the Compactor quickly. · Never operate your unit on a slippery, wet, muddy, or icy surface. Exercise caution to avoid
slipping or falling. · Never use the machine without ensuring that all guards and shields are in place. · Never, under any conditions, remove, bend, cut, fit, weld, or otherwise alter standard parts
on the Compactor. This includes all shields and guards. Modifications to your machine could cause personal injuries and property damage and will void your warranty. · If the machine starts to make an unusual noise or vibrate, shut down the engine, disconnect the spark plug wire, keeping it away from the spark plug to prevent accidental starting, wait 5 minutes for the engine to cool down, then inspect for damage. Vibration is generally a warning of trouble. Check for any broken or missing expendable items such as nuts, bolts, pins, springs, wiring and switch components, fittings, throttles and belts. Also check engine mounting bolts. · Never tamper with safety devices. Check their proper operation regularly. · Before performing any maintenance or inspection procedure, shut down the engine,

Stay alert for hidden hazards. · Keep all nuts and bolts tight and keep the equipment in good operating condition.

· Only trained personnel are permitted to operate the compactor. · DO NOT operate under the influence of drugs or alcohol. · DO NOT operate in the presence of explosives or flammable substances such as liquids,
gases, or dust. Gasoline-powered engines may ignite these substances causing an explosion. · DO NOT leave the compactor unattended while it is running. · The engine must be turned off and secure before restarting, make sure you pull out the spark plug before maintenance and servicing. · Keep hands, feet, and tools clear from the compactor base while operating. · Only use suitable means of transport and lifting devices with sufficient loading capacity. · Securely fasten the plate compactor before transportation. Insecure fastening of the unit may cause damage or injury during transportation. · DO NOT transport the compactor by a motor vehicle with fuel in its tank. · DO NOT refuel the engine while it is still hot. Fuel is flammable. · DO NOT service the engine while it is still hot. · Operate the compactor with both hands. · NOT for use by or around children or pets. Keep a watchful eye of your surroundings and ensure children and pets are under appropriate, responsible supervision.
WARNING: BEFORE EACH USE
To avoid risk of an explosion or fire from a fuel spill, only add fuel to the tank when the engine is stopped and has cooled down. In the event of a fuel spill, DO NOT attempt to start the engine until the fuel residue has been completely cleaned up, and the area surrounding the engine is dry.

before starting or operating the unit to avoid incorrect operation that may result in damage or injury. 1. Loosen the knob handle on each side of the upper handle. 2. Swing the upper handle until it points straight out from the lower handle. 3. Tighten both knob handles securely.

STARTING THE ENGINE
1. Open the fuel valve by moving the lever to the right (a1). NOTE: If the engine is cold, move the choke lever to the CLOSE position (b1). If the engine is hot, set the choke to the OPEN position (b2). 2. Turn the engine switch to the ON position (e1). 3. Open the throttle by moving it slightly to the left (d1). 4. Pull the starter rope (c). NOTE: If the oil level in the engine is low, the engine will not start. If it doesn’t start, add oil to the engine. Some engines are equipped with an oil alert light that will come on while pulling the starter rope. 5. Open the choke as the engine warms (b2). 6. Open the throttle fully to operate.

STARTING THE ENGINE
NOTE: Whenever high-speed operation (over 3,600 RPM) is NOT required, slow the engine by moving the speed control lever to a low position to save fuel and extend the life of the equipment.
7. Once the engine has started, firmly grasp the plate compactor’s handle bar with one hand then quickly turn the throttle lever to high speed. The engine speed should be around 2,300 RPM therefore engaging the centrifugal clutch.
NOTE: Always move the throttle lever quickly without hesitation, because increasing the engine speed slowly will cause the clutch to slip.
8. Firmly grasp the plate compactor’s handle bar with both hands as it begins to move forward. Walk behind the unit watching for any large objects or foreign matter that might cause damage to the compactor or shoot out causing property damage or bodily injury. If objects are in the travel path, slow the engine (stopping compactor travel) and remove the object before proceeding. The compactor’s travel speed may slow down on soils that contain clay; however, there may be cases where the travel speed slows because the vibrator/compaction plate does not leave the ground surface easily due to the composition of the soil. To correct this problem: · With the compactor turned off completely and the engine cooled, check the vibrator plate to see if clay or other materials have been lodged in the mechanism. If so, clean the plate mechanism with water and remove the material. · Remember that the plate compactor does not work efficiently on clay or very moist soil. · If the soil is very moist, dry it to a suitable level or perform compaction twice.

STOPPING THE ENGINE CAUTION: Never stop the engine abruptly from full speed. Slow the speed and
allow the engine to run idle for a few minutes. This is necessary to prevent the moisture of the outside air from getting into the engine carburetor. · Slow the engine to idle by turning the accelerator lever fully counter- clockwise. · Shift the engine ON/OFF switch to the OFF position. · Close the fuel valve. See the engine’s owner’s manual for further information about your engine.

AFTER EACH USE
After your equipment has been unused for longer than 20 days, prepare the engine for storage with the following process:
STEP 1: CLEAN
Wait for the engine to cool, then clean the engine with a dry cloth.
NOTE: DO NOT CLEAN USING WATER. The water will gradually enter the engine and cause rust damage. Apply a thin coat of rust preventive oil to all metal parts.
STEP 2: FUEL
To protect the fuel tank during storage, fill the tank with gasoline that has been treated with a fuel stabilizer additive.
STEP 3: LUBRICATE
1. Change the engine oil. 2. Clean out the area around the spark plug. Remove the spark plug and pour one tablespoon
of engine oil into the cylinder through the spark plug hole. 3. Replace the spark plug, but leave the spark plug cap disconnected. 4. Pull the Starter Handle to distribute oil to the cylinder. Pull the recoil starter until you feel
resistance. This is when the piston is on the compression stroke where the intake and exhaust valves are closed. Keeping the intake and exhaust valves closed will prevent rust, as moisture cannot get inside the combustion chamber.

STORING YOUR UNIT
STEP 4: STORING
Cover the unit and store it in a dry, level, well-ventilated area out of reach of children. The storage area should also be away from ignition sources, such as water heaters, clothes dryers, and furnaces. NOTE: During extended storage periods, the engine must be started every three (3) months and allowed to run for 15-20 minutes or the warranty is void.
STEP 5: AFTER STORING
After storing, before starting the engine, keep in mind that untreated gasoline will deteriorate quickly. Drain the fuel tank and change to fresh fuel if the untreated gasoline has been sitting for a month. If treated gasoline has been sitting beyond the fuel stabilizer’s recommended time period, or if the engine does not start, follow the steps starting on p.23.

MAINTENANCE
CHANGING THE V-BELT
WARNING: Check that the plate compactor engine is turned off and cooled before
attempting to change the V-belt. Changing the V-belt while the unit is still operating will cause injury. 1. Turn off the engine. 2. Loosen, but DO NOT remove the four nuts (40) that hold the engine (01) to the engine support plate (32). 3. Using a nut (33) and bolt (34), slide the engine (01) towards the driver pulley (13 in Vibratory Housing Assembly) until the belt (39) can be removed. 4. Remove the old belts, then install new ones. 5. Check the alignment of the two pulleys (side by side – in the same level/surface) 6. Using nut (33) and bolt (34), slide engine (01) away from the driver pulley (13 in Vibratory Housing Assembly) until belt is properly tensioned. 7. Re- tighten the four nuts (40) that hold the engine (01) to the engine support plates (32).

1. Ouvrez le robinet de carburant en déplaçant le levier vers la droite (a1). REMARQUE : Si le moteur est froid, placez le levier de l’étrangleur en position FERMÉ (b1). Si le moteur est chaud, placez le starter en position OUVERT (b2).
2. Tournez l’interrupteur du moteur en position ON (e1). 3. Ouvrez la manette des gaz en la déplaçant légèrement vers la gauche (d1). 4. Tirez sur la corde du démarreur (c).
REMARQUE : Si le niveau d’huile dans le moteur est bas, le moteur ne démarrera pas. S’il ne démarre pas, ajoutez de l’huile le moteur. Certains moteurs sont équipés d’un voyant d’alerte d’huile qui s’allumera en tirant la corde du démarreur. 5. Ouvrez l’étrangleur pendant que le moteur se réchauffe (b2). 6. Ouvrez complètement la manette des gaz pour fonctionner.

DÉMARRAGE DU MOTEUR
REMARQUE : Quand un fonctionnement à grande vitesse (plus de 3 600 tr/min) n’est PAS requis, ralentissez le moteur en déplaçant le levier de commande de gaz à une position basse pour économiser du carburant et prolonger la durée de vie de l’équipement.
7. Une fois le moteur démarré, saisissez fermement le guidon du compacteur d’une main puis tournez rapidement la manette des gaz à grande vitesse. La vitesse du moteur devrait être d’environ 2 300 tr/min engageant donc l’embrayage centrifuge.
REMARQUE : Déplacez toujours la manette des gaz rapidement et sans hésitation, car augmenter le la vitesse du moteur lentement fera patiner l’embrayage.
8. Saisissez fermement la barre de poignée du compacteur avec les deux mains pendant qu’il commence à avancer.
Marchez derrière l’unité en surveillant les objets volumineux ou les corps étrangers qui pourraient causer des dommages au compacteur ou une explosion causant des dommages matériels ou des blessures corporelles. Si des objets se trouvent sur la trajectoire, ralentir le moteur (arrêt de la course du compacteur) et retirer l’objet avant de procéder.
La vitesse de déplacement du compacteur peut être ralentie sur les sols contenant de l’argile; cependant, il peut être des cas où la vitesse de déplacement ralentit parce que le vibro compacteur ne quittent facilement la surface du sol en raison de la composition du sol. Pour corriger ce problème :
· Avec le compacteur complètement éteint et le moteur refroidi, vérifiez le vibreur plaque pour voir si de l’argile ou d’autres matériaux se sont logés dans le mécanisme. Si c’est le cas, nettoyez le mécanisme de plaque avec de l’eau et retirez le matériau.
· N’oubliez pas que le compacteur ne fonctionne pas efficacement sur un sol argileux ou très humide.
· Si le sol est très humide, séchez-le à un niveau approprié ou effectuez deux compactages.

Ralentir la vitesse et laisser le moteur tourner au ralenti pendant quelques minutes. Ceci est nécessaire pour empêcher l’humidité de l’air extérieur ne pénètre dans le carburateur du moteur. · Ralentissez le moteur en tournant le levier d’accélérateur à fond dans le sens inverse des aiguilles d’une montre. · Mettez l’interrupteur MARCHE/ARRÊT du moteur sur la position ARRÊT. · Fermez le robinet de carburant. Consultez le manuel du propriétaire du moteur pour plus d’informations sur votre moteur.

APRÈS CHAQUE UTILISATION
Quand que votre équipement n’a pas été utilisé pendant plus de 20 jours, préparez le moteur pour l’entreposage par le processus suivant :
ÉTAPE 1 : NETTOYER
Attendez que le moteur refroidisse, puis nettoyez le moteur avec un chiffon sec.
REMARQUE : NE PAS NETTOYER AVEC DE L’EAU. L’eau pourrait entrer progressivement dans le moteur et causerait des dommages de rouille. Appliquez une fine couche d’huile antirouille sur toutes les pièces métalliques.
ÉTAPE 2 : CARBURANT
Pour protéger le réservoir de carburant pendant le stockage, remplissez le réservoir avec de l’essence qui a été traitée avec un additif stabilisateur de carburant.
ÉTAPE 3 : LUBRIFIER
1. Changez l’huile moteur. 2. Nettoyez la zone autour de la bougie. Retirez la bougie et versez une cuillère à soupe
d’huile moteur dans le cylindre par le trou de la bougie. 3. Remplacez la bougie, mais laissez le capuchon de bougie déconnecté. 4. Tirez sur la poignée du démarreur pour répartir l’huile dans le cylindre. Tirez sur le

ENTREPOSAGE DE VOTRE APPAREIL
ÉTAPE 4 : ENTERPOSAGE
Couvrez l’appareil et rangez-le dans un endroit sec, plat et bien ventilé, hors de portée des enfants. La zone d’entreposage doit également être éloignée des sources d’inflammation, telles que les chauffe-eau, les sèche-linge, et fourneaux.
REMARQUE : Pendant les périodes d’entreposage prolongées, le moteur doit être démarré tous les trois (3) mois et devrait fonctionner pendant 15-20 minutes ou la garantie est annulée.
ÉTAPE 5 : APRÈS L’ENTERPOSAGE
Après un entreposage, avant de démarrer le moteur, gardez à l’esprit que l’essence non traitée se détériorera rapidement. Vidanger le réservoir de carburant et changer pour du carburant frais si l’essence non traitée est restée pour un mois. Si l’essence traitée est restée au-delà du temps recommandé par le stabilisateur de carburant ou si le moteur ne démarre pas, suivre les étapes à partir de la p.24.

CHANGER LA COURROIE EN V
AVERTISSEMENT : Vérifiez que le moteur du compacteur soit éteint et refroidi
avant essayer de changer la courroie en V. Remplacement de la courroie pendant que l’appareil fonctionne vous causera des blessures.
1. Fermez le moteur. 2. Desserrez, mais NE retirez PAS les quatre écrous (40) qui maintiennent le moteur (01) a la
plaque de support du moteur (32). 3. À l’aide d’un écrou (33) et d’un boulon (34), faites glisser le moteur (01) vers la poulie
d’entraînement (13 Ensemble de Boîtier Vibratoire) jusqu’à ce que la courroie (39) puisse être retirée. 4. Retirez les anciennes courroies, puis installez les nouvelles. 5. Vérifiez l’alignement des deux poulies (côte à côte – au même niveau/surface) 6. À l’aide de l’écrou (33) et du boulon (34), faites glisser le moteur (01) loin de la poulie d’entraînement (13 Ensemble de Boîtier Vibratoire) jusqu’à ce que la courroie soit correctement tendue. 7. Resserrez les quatre écrous (40) qui maintiennent le moteur (01) sur les plaques de support moteur (32).
