Grandstream GRP260X Configuration Guide for RingCentral MVP
The Grandstream GRP260X is a BYOD generic SIP phone that can be used with
the RingCentral MVP platform. This document provides instructions on how to
add a GRP260X device and a RingCentral MVP user, and how to manually provision
the GRP260X via the web interface. The document also includes information on
firmware upgrades, unlocking and resetting the phone, and logging in to the
phone’s web UI.
Overview
This document outlines the configuration best practices for Grandstream GRP260X as a BYOD generic SIP phone on the RingCentral MVP platform. tekVizion has validated the SIP interoperability of Grandstream GRP260X with RingCentral. Customers are advised to check the Grandstream website for GRP260X documentation. Here is the link to GRP260X Administration Guide.

Configuration RingCentral Web Portal
This section describes the configuration needed on the RingCentral MVP portal for Granstream GRP260X manual provision. A valid RingCentral administrator account is required to accomplish these tasks.
Add a RingCentral MVP User
RingCentral MVP users are created in order to log in to RingCentral clients on desktop or mobile, it can also be assigned to SIP devices. Please follow the instructions of the RingCentral document below to add a new user with an extension:
- Log in to RingCentral MVP.
- Click Users.
- Select Add User.
- Enter the user’s information and click Save.

Add a GRP260X Device
Once a user and extension have been added to the system, please follow the
instructions below to add your GRP260X phone.
- Log in to RingCentral MVP.
- Click Phones & Devices.
- Select Add Device.
- Select Other Phone (BYOD).
- Enter the device’s MAC address and click Next.
- Select the user to assign the device to and click Next.
- Enter a name for the device and click Next.
- Review the settings and click Add Device.

- Log in to RingCentral MVP.
- Click Phones & Devices.
- Find the device you want to provision and click Edit.
- Click Set Up and Provision, then click Set up manually using SIP.
- Note down the SIP settings displayed in the popup window.
- Go to the Admin Portal and sign in.
- Go to Phone System à Phones & Devices à User Phones
- Select Existing Phone If you don’t have this under your User Phones list, you can add one by clicking Add Device
- Click Set Up and Provision
- Click Set up manually using SIP
Select the Yes – The device must support the Transport Protocol version TLS 1.2 radio button.
Note:
It is recommended to use TLS 1.2 for enhanced network security. From the
Outbound Proxy drop-down list, select a proxy according to the location of
your device (ex:
sip10.ringcentral.com:5096)

Note on Paging:
Currently, GRP260X is not supported by RingCentral to receive paging as a user
phone. In order for GRP260X to receive paging, users need to create a paging
device on the RingCentral admin portal under Phone System à Phones & Devices à
Paging Devices. Then use the provided SIP information to register GRP260x.
Manual Provision GRP260X via Web Interface
This section describes manual configuration steps on Grandstream GRP260X using SIP settings populated on the RingCentral portal (shown in Figure 1). By default, GRP260X has DHCP enabled. If the router that the phone is connected to does not support DHCP, you can configure static IP manually. Please find GRP260X’s IP address by navigating on the phone’s LCD using the keypad: Menu à Status à Network Status à Ethernet.
- Unlock the GRP260X device if it was purchased from a previous service provider.
- Perform a factory reset on the device.
- Connect the device to the network and power it on.
- Enter the phone’s IP address in the browser’s address bar (https://ip-address).
- Enter the phone’s username and password displayed on the phone’s LCD screen and click Login.
- Enter the SIP settings obtained from RingCentral MVP and click Save and Apply.
Unlock and Reset GRP260X
If your GRP260X device was purchased from a previous service provider, you
may need to unlock it before you can register/provision it on RingCentral MVP.
To do this:
- Contact your previous service provider for help unlocking the device.
- Perform a factory reset on the device to remove any previous settings/configurations that could conflict with the manual provisioning settings.
- Please ensure that your GRP260X device is unlocked: If your phone/device was purchased from a previous service provider, please ensure that it is unlocked before it can be registered/provisioned. If you need help, please contact your previous service provider.
- Factory reset the phone: By doing a factory reset, any previous settings/configurations that could possibly conflict with the manual provisioning settings will be removed.
Perform a Factory Reset via LCD
- Press the round MENU button to bring up the keypad configuration menu.
- Navigate to Menu option 8 – Factory Reset.
- Press the round MENU button.
- Confirm the reset request by pressing the Yes Softkey, or cancel it by pressing the No Softkey.
- A warning window will pop out to make sure a reset is requested and confirmed.
- Press the “Yes” Softkey to confirm and the phone will reboot, or “No” Softkey to cancel the Reset.
Log in GRP260X Web UI
Once the GRP260X boots up, enter the phone’s IP address in the browser’s
address bar (https://ip-address) and input phone’s username and password
displayed in the phone’s LCD screen and click Login.
- Power on the GRP260X device.
- Enter the phone’s IP address in the browser’s address bar (https://ip-address).
- Enter the phone’s username and password displayed on the phone’s LCD screen and click Login.
- Set a new password for the phone when prompted to do so.

- Navigate to Accounts à Accounts à Account 1
- Under Account 1 à General Settings, ensure the below parameters are set.
- Account Active: Check
- Account Name: Enter the Account Name of your choice. Here, Grandstream Two is used
- SIP Server: sip.ringcentral.com:5060
- Outbound Proxy: sip10.ringcentral.com:5096
- SIP User ID: RingCentral Phone Number
- SIP Authentication ID: Provide the SIP Authentication ID
- SIP Authentication Password: Provide the SIP Authentication Password
- NAT Traversal: No
- Click Save and Apply

- Under Account 1 à SIP Settings, ensure the below parameters are set.
- SIP Registration: Checked
- SIP Transport: TLS/TCP
- SIP URI Scheme When Using TLS: sip
- Click Save and Apply

- Under Account 1 à Codec Settings, ensure the below parameters are set.
- SRTP Mode: Enabled and Forced
- SRTP Key Length: AES 128&256 bit
- Click Save and Apply

- Under Account 1 à Feature Codes, ensure the below parameters are set.
- Enable Local Call Features: Unchecked
- Click Save and Apply

After the above configuration steps, navigate to Status -> Account Status to check the account registration status.

Firmware Upgrade
To upgrade the firmware on your GRP260X device:
This section describes the GRP260X firmware upgrade process. The firmware version that passed RingCentral/tekVizion certification is 1.0.3.70. But any maintenance releases should work with RingCentral MVP. Users are recommended to upgrade to the latest firmware. Grandstream firmware is available for download from the company website at https://www.grandstream.com/support/firmware.
From the phone’s home page, navigate to Maintenance à Upgrade, and Provisioning
- Log in to RingCentral MVP.
- Click Phones & Devices.
- Find the device you want to upgrade and click Edit.
- If an upgrade is available, you will see a message indicating so. Click Upgrade Now to start the upgrade process.
- Select Firmware tab
- Under Upgrade via Manually Upload: Upload Firmware File to Update – Click Upload to upload the firmware file from the PC
- The selected firmware file will be upgraded to the phone
- From the Phone’s LCD screen, Select Yes to Reboot and switch to (1.0.3.70) (Phone may restart to apply the changes)
