USE AND CARE MANUAL
Before operating the steamer, please read these instructions **
carefully and keep them for future reference.**

IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS

When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and/or injury to persons, including the following:

  1. Read all instructions.

  2. This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge unless they are closely supervised and instructed concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety.

  3. Keep the appliance and its cord out of reach of children.

  4. Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near children. Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.

  5. Use the appliance only for its intended use.

  6. To avoid the risk of electric shock, do not immerse the appliance in water or other liquids.

  7. To turn off the steamer, unplug the cord from the outlet. To unplug, grasp the plug and pull from the outlet. Never pull from the power cord.

  8. Do not let the cord touch hot surfaces. Let the appliance cool completely before putting the appliance away. Coil the cord loosely around the appliance for storing.

  9. Always disconnect the appliance from the electrical outlet before filling the appliance with water, emptying the water from the appliance, and when the appliance is not in use.

  10. Always close the filling aperture when operating the appliance.

  11.  To reduce the risk of contact with hot water emitting from steam vents, check the appliance before each use by holding it away from the body and operating the steam button.

  12. Do not operate the appliance with a damaged cord or in the event the appliance has been dropped or damaged or there are visible signs of damage or it is leaking. To avoid the risk of electric shock, do not disassemble the appliance. The incorrect assembly might result in a risk of electric shock when the appliance is used after reassembly. Supply cord replacement and repairs must be conducted by the manufacturer, its service agent, or similarly qualified persons in order to avoid a hazard. Call the provided
customer service number for information on examination, repair, or adjustment.

  13. The appliance must be used and rested on a stable surface.

  14. Do not leave the appliance unattended while the appliance is connected to an electrical outlet.

  15. Burns can occur from touching steam holes, hot metal parts, hot water, or steam. Use caution when you turn a steamer upside down—there might be hot water in the reservoir.

  16. To avoid a circuit overload, do not operate an appliance on the same circuit with another high-wattage appliance.

  17. If an extension cord is absolutely necessary, a cord with an ampere rating equal to or greater than the maximum rating of the appliance shall be used. A cord rated for less
amperage can result in a risk of fire or electric shock due to overheating. Care shall be taken to arrange the cord so that it cannot be pulled or be tripped over.

Other Consumer Safety Information
This appliance is intended for household use only. Direct steam at clothing only. Directing steam toward any other surface may damage that surface.

  • Do not steam clothes that are being worn.
  • Do not use the steam in the direction of people or pets.

How to Steam

CAUTION Burn Hazard. Steam is hot. Always make sure the unit is OFF when assembling attachments. Avoid contact with escaping steam.
NOTES:

  • To avoid garment damage, check the garment label before using Handheld Steamer. The label inside the clothing should recommend fabric care instructions.
  • Steaming garments will give a relaxed, not pressed, look.
  • Do not use Steamer if the garment label has this symbol ( ).

How to Use

  1. To remove Water Reservoir, hold the Steamer by Handle, turn the arrow on Water Reservoir from Lock ( ) to Unlock ( ), and remove.

  2. Unscrew Water Reservoir Fill Cap to remove, and fill Water Reservoir with cold water to MAX Fill. Do not overfill. Add Cap back onto Water Reservoir. If you have extremely hard water, mix 50% untreated tap water with 50% distilled or demineralized water for use in the Steamer.

  3. Align arrow ( ) on Water Reservoir with Unlock ( ) on the Steamer and turn to lock in place.

  4. Plug into an outlet.

  5. Power/Ready Light flashes while heating up. The steamer is ready to use in about 20 seconds or once Power/Ready Light stays on.

  6.  Before using on fabric, let the Steamer steam for 5 seconds to remove any minerals or sediment from factory testing or last use. Press and hold Trigger, or slide Trigger down to lock for continuous steam.

  7. For steady steam, always hold the Steamer by Handle in an upright position close to the fabric.

  8. For MAX steam, press the MAX ( ) Steam Button, and the MAX Steam Light on the back of the Steamer illuminates. If pressed again, steam will reduce and MAX Steam Light turns off.

  9. Carefully move Steamer up and down over wrinkled areas.
Do not hold the Steamer in one spot for any length of time; this may cause damage to the fabric. If using the Fabric Brush attachment, lightly brush fabric while steaming (to improve wrinkle release).

  10. To refill Water Reservoir to continue steaming, unplug and cool 5 minutes before adding water.

  11. When steaming is complete, unplug and cool completely.

  12. Always remove Water Reservoir and empty water after each use. Store upright.

  13. To attach Removable Fabric Brush, align Fabric Brush with tab up or down over Steamer Plate and push to snap on. To remove, hold your finger behind the Fabric Brush tab and push forward.

Steamer Tips

  • To avoid garment damage, check the garment label for fabric content and any steaming instructions.
  • Hang garments on a plastic hanger for easier steaming. Wooden hangers will get damaged if used for steaming clothes.
  • Wait 10 minutes before wearing your steamed garment or storing in a closet.
  • When steaming, touching fabrics lightly with Fabric Brush will help in wrinkle removal. It is important to make contact with the garment and/or fabric when using the Fabric Brush.
  • For more difficult wrinkles, try steaming from the underside of the fabric. This allows fibers in fabric to relax.
  • Pants are more easily steamed upside down, with pants hanging from cuffs.

Care and Cleaning

WARNING Electrical Shock Hazard. Disconnect power before cleaning. Do not immerse the cord, plug, or base in any liquid.

  1. Unplug. Allow the Steamer to cool completely.
  2. Remove Water Reservoir and drain all water.
  3. Add Water Reservoir to Steamer and store upright.

To Remove Minerals and Sediment from Steamer

  1. Add 1/4 cup (59 mL) white vinegar and 1/4 cup (59 mL) cold water to the Removable Water Reservoir and follow “How to Steam” steps 1-6. Press MAX ( ) Steam Button to quickly remove minerals and sediment. This should take about 4 minutes. Do not steam clothes with vinegar in Water Reservoir.
  2. Cool completely and empty Water Reservoir. Rinse Water Reservoir and add 1/2 cup (118 mL) of water. Repeat “How to Steam” to remove any remaining vinegar in Steamer.

Troubleshooting

The steamer is not steaming.

  • No water in Water Reservoir. Add cold water to MAX Fill and follow the “How to Steam” instructions.

  • The steamer is not plugged into an outlet. Plug into an outlet.
    Water is leaking.

  • Unplug. Check that Water Reservoir Door is secured in place. Dry off Steamer. If the leak continues, do not operate Steamer. Contact CHI Garment Care.
The steamer is trailing or spitting.

  • Clean the Steamer by following the “To Remove Minerals and Sediment from Steamer” section.

  • ALWAYS empty Water Reservoir after each use. Water left in Reservoir may discolor clothing or cause mineral/sediment buildup in Steamer.
