CHI 11580 Handheld Garment Steamer
Product Information
The product is a steamer designed for household use. It is equipped with steam vents, a steam button, a water reservoir fill door, a power indicator light, a steamer handle, a water reservoir with a maximum fill line, and a power cord. The appliance should be operated and rested on a stable surface. It is important to exercise caution when using the steamer to avoid burns from hot water or steam. Product Usage Instructions
- Before operating the steamer, read all the instructions provided in the user manual.
- To reduce the risk of contact with hot water emitting from steam vents, check the appliance before each use by holding it away from your body and operating the steam button.
- Ensure the appliance is placed on a stable surface during use.
- Do not leave the appliance unattended while it is connected to an electrical outlet.
- Exercise caution when turning the steamer upside down as there might be hot water in the reservoir.
- If using an extension cord, make sure it has an ampere rating equal to or greater than the maximum rating of the appliance. Arrange the cord in such a way that it cannot be pulled or tripped over.
- This appliance is intended for household use only. Direct steam only at clothing and avoid directing it towards any other surface to prevent damage.
- Always empty the water reservoir after each use and leave the reservoir door open for it to dry before storing. Store the steamer in the provided travel bag.
- To remove minerals and sediment buildup from the steamer, dry it off and contact CHI Garment Care if the leak continues.
- When cleaning the steamer, make sure to disconnect the power and avoid immersing the cord, plug, or base in any liquid.

USE AND CARE MANUAL
Before operating the steamer, please read these instructions carefully and keep them for future reference.
IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS
When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be
followed to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and/or injury to persons,
including the following:
- Read all instructions.
- This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they are closely supervised and instructed concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety.
- Keep the appliance and its cord out of reach of children.
- Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near children. Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.
- Use appliance only for its intended use.
- To avoid the risk of electric shock, do not immerse the appliance in water or other liquids.
- To turn off steamer, unplug cord from outlet. To unplug, grasp the plug and pull from the outlet. Never pull from the power cord.
- Do not let the cord touch hot surfaces. Let the appliance cool completely before putting the appliance away. Coil the cord loosely around the appliance for storing.
- Always disconnect the appliance from the electrical outlet before filling the appliance with water, emptying the water from the appliance, and when the appliance is not in use.
- Always close the filling aperture when operating appliance.
- To reduce the risk of contact with hot water emitting from steam vents, check appliance before each use by holding it away from body and operating steam button.
- Do not operate the appliance with a damaged cord or in the event the appliance has been dropped or damaged or there are visible signs of damage or it is leaking. To avoid the risk of electric shock, do not disassemble the appliance. Incorrect assembly might result in a risk of electric shock when the appliance is used after reassembly. Supply cord replacement and repairs must be conducted by the manufacturer, its service agent, or similarly qualified persons in order to avoid a hazard. Call the provided customer service number for information on examination, repair, or adjustment.
- The appliance must be used and rested on a stable surface.
- Do not leave the appliance unattended while the appliance is connected to an electrical outlet.
- Burns can occur from touching steam holes, hot metal parts, hot water, or steam. Use caution when you turn a steamer upside down—there might be hot water in the reservoir.
- To avoid a circuit overload, do not operate an appliance on the same circuit with another high-wattage appliance.
- If an extension cord is absolutely necessary, a cord with an ampere rating equal to or greater than the maximum rating of the appliance shall be used. A cord rated for less amperage can result in a risk of fire or electric shock due to overheating. Care shall be taken to arrange the cord so that it cannot be pulled or be tripped over.

Other Consumer Safety Information
This appliance is intended for household use only. Direct steam at clothing
only. Directing steam toward any other surface may damage that surface.
- Do not steam clothes that are being worn.
- Do not use the steam in the direction of people or pets.
WARNING Electrical Shock Hazard: This appliance is provided with a polarized plug (one wide blade) to reduce the risk of electric shock. The plug fits only one way into a polarized outlet. Do not defeat the safety purpose of the plug by modifying the plug in any way or by using an adapter. If the plug does not fit fully into the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, have an electrician replace the outlet. To avoid an electrical circuit overload, do not use another high-wattage appliance on the same circuit with this appliance.

How to Steam
CAUTION Burn Hazard. Steam is hot. Avoid contact with escaping steam.
NOTES:

To avoid garment damage, check garment label before using Steamer. The label inside the clothing should recommend fabric care instructions.

Steaming garments will give a relaxed, not pressed, look.

Do not use Steamer if garment label has this symbol ( ).

Move Water Reservoir Door down and fill Water Reservoir with cold water. Do not overfill. If you have extremely hard water, mix 50% untreated tap water with 50% distilled or demineralized water for use in the Steamer.

Close Water Reservoir Door.

Plug into outlet.

Power Indicator Light flashes while heating up. Steamer is ready to use in about 30 seconds or once Power Indicator Light stays solid red.

Press and hold Steam Button for steady steaming.

Hold Steamer by Steamer Handle close to fabric.

Carefully move Steamer up and down over wrinkled areas. Do not hold Steamer in one spot for any length of time; this may cause damage to fabric.

Unplug Steamer before refilling. Repeat Steps 1 and 2 to refill Water Reservoir. Plug Steamer into outlet and wait until Power Indicator Light is solid red to continue steaming.

When steaming is complete, unplug and cool completely.

Always empty Water Reservoir after each use. Leave Water Reservoir Door open for Reservoir to dry before storing. Place Steamer in Travel Bag to store.
Steamer Tips
- To avoid garment damage, check garment label for fabric content and any steaming instructions.
- Hang garments on a plastic hanger for easier steaming. Wooden hangers will get damaged if used for steaming clothes.
- Wait 10 minutes before wearing your steamed garment or storing in a closet.
- For more difficult wrinkles, try steaming from underside of fabric. This allows fibers in fabric to relax.
- Pants are more easily steamed upside down, with pants hanging from cuffs.
Care and Cleaning
WARNING Electrical Shock Hazard. Disconnect power before cleaning. Do not immerse cord, plug, or base in any liquid.
- Unplug. Allow Steamer to cool completely.
- Open door of Water Reservoir and hold over a sink to drain all water from Water Reservoir. Close door and store in Travel Bag.
To Remove Minerals and Sediment from Steamer (recommend every month)
Add 3 tablespoons (30 ml) white vinegar to Water Reservoir and follow steps
1–5 in “How to Steam” section. Add 2 tablespoons (30 ml) cold water to Water
Reservoir. Repeat steps to remove any remaining vinegar in Steamer.
NOTE: Do not steam clothes with vinegar in Water Reservoir.
Troubleshooting
Steamer is not steaming.
- No water in Water Reservoir. Add cold water and follow “How to Steam” instructions.
- Steamer is not plugged into an outlet. Plug into outlet.
Water is leaking.
Unplug. Check that Water Reservoir Door is secured in place. Dry off
Steamer. If leak continues, do not operate Steamer. Contact CHI Garment Care.
Steamer is trailing or spitting.
- Clean Steamer by following the “To Remove Minerals and Sediment from Steamer” section.
- ALWAYS empty Water Reservoir after each use. Water left in Reservoir may discolor clothing or cause mineral/sediment buildup in Steamer.
Limited Warranty
This warranty applies to products purchased and used in the U.S. and Canada.
This is the only express warranty for this product and is in lieu of any other
warranty or condition.
This product is warranted to be free from defects in material and workmanship
for a period of two (2) years from the date of original purchase. During this
period, your exclusive remedy is repair or replacement of this product or any
component found to be defective, at our option; however, you are responsible
for all costs associated with returning the product to us and our returning a
product or component under this warranty to you. If the product or component
is no longer available, we will replace with a similar one of equal or greater
value.
This warranty does not cover glass, filters, wear from normal use, use not in
conformity with the printed directions, or damage to the product resulting
from accident, alteration, abuse, or misuse. This warranty extends only to the
original consumer purchaser or gift recipient. Keep the original sales
receipt, as proof of purchase is required to make a warranty claim. This
warranty is void if the product is used for other than single-family household
use or subjected to any voltage and waveform other than as specified on the
rating label (e.g., 120 V ~ 60 Hz).
We exclude all claims for special, incidental, and consequential damages
caused by breach of express or implied warranty. All liability is limited to
the amount of the purchase price. Every implied warranty, including any
statutory warranty or condition of merchantability or fitness for a particular
purpose, is disclaimed except to the extent prohibited by law, in which case
such warranty or condition is limited to the duration of this written
warranty. This warranty gives you specific legal rights. You may have other
legal rights that vary depending on where you live. Some states or provinces
do not allow limitations on implied warranties or special, incidental, or
consequential damages, so the foregoing limitations may not apply to you.
