NUX MG-30 is a versatile modeler. MG-30 equips 2 powerful DSPs for high- definition White-Box Amp Modeling algorithm (TSAC-HD) and Core-Image post- effects. Since we announced the best budget compact modeler MG-300, people were blown away by the sound and playability. We’re proud to say MG-30 can offer you 2K definition better than MG-300’s Full-HD experience. The aluminum alloy enclosure gives you strong protection in all kinds rigorous environments. Send/Return and external EXP jacks offer multi applications the guitarists need. Moveable signal blocks, optional parallel post-effect routing and 1024 samples IR resolution make MG-30 be the versatile modeler as game changer in the industry.

Operation

MASTER KNOB
Controls overall master volume of MG-30.

SIGNAL BLOCK

****Under the current patch. Press once to engage/disengage the related signal block. Hold to enter to related signal block editing. Hold 2 signal blocks can exchange the block position. ( AMP & IR blocks are fixed together. ) Signal blocks are also the indicators to show the current status. ( Engaged / Disengaged )

Hidden Function:
Holding block to exchange: CMP->EFX , EFX->MOD , MOD->EFX
It means you can stack CMP, and 2 EFXs (OD/DIST) at the same time.

5-WAY DIRECTION ENCODER

****During current patch location display. Press once to enter to edit mode, then you can go left/right to choose related signal block to tweak parameters. Rotate the encoder can switch to different models.
During current patch location display. Hold up, you can adjust the current patch level.

In patch edit mode, hold 5-way encoder “UP”, you can also adjust the current patch SIGNAL BLOCK order/routing. If your current block is MOD / DLV / RVB, press KNOB 3 or KNOB 4 can set the post-effects as parallel routing.
During current patch location display. Hold down, you can adjust EXP / EXP 1 / CTRL assignment settings. (MG-30 will detect external EXP 1 jack while you connect with NUX NMP-2 or expression pedal.)

In patch edit mode, hold 5-way encoder “DOWN”, you can also go to on-board EXP / external EXP / CTRL assignment settings.

HOME/GLOBAUEXP INDICATOR BUTTON
During current patch display, hold global button to enter to GLOBAL SETTING, then use 5-way direction encoder to adjust all the setups. Press once to go one layer back.

The EXP indicator can show the on-board EXP is engaged for secondary function or not.

SAVE BUTTON
Either in GLOBAL SETTING or Patch Edit, press the SAVE button to store. Press HOME/GLOBAL button to go back.

KNOB 1 / 2 / 3 / 4
While you enter to edit mode (press 5-way encoder), you can tweak the knob to adjust the related parameters. You can even press the knob to go to different page.

Hidden Functions in PRESET mode by pressing KNOB 1 / 2/ 3/ 4:

  • Press KNOB1: You can adjust current patch LEVEL by rotating KNOB 1. (Press KNOB 4 to recall default parameter.)
  • Press KNOB 2: You can see current patch’s BPM/TIME setting. In the meantime, you can tap KNOB 2 as Tap Tempo to adjust the BPM value.
  • Press KNOB 3: You can see current CPU status.4
  • Press and hold KNOB 4: Recall default patch.

FOOT SWITCHES

DOWN FOOT SWITCH: During patch display, press once can go patch down.
UP FOOT SWITCH: During patch display, press once can go patch up.
CTRL FOOT SWITCH: You can assign CTRL foot switch as TAP/ CMP /GATE/ EFX / EQ /SR/ MOD/ DLY / RVB / SCENE. (Enter to on-board EXP / external EXP / CTRL assignment settings.) TAP means globally tap tempo. For other signal blocks, it means you can engage/disengage by CTRL foot switch. SCENE: Assign CTRL as SCENE foot switch to switch S1 / S2 / S3 sequentially. For QUICK SCENE, you can engage/disengage signal blocks freely, and it can keep DELAY/ REVERB trails while you disengage them by SCENE CTRL.

Press UP & DOWN foot switch, then you can enter to DRUM & LOOPER. In the meantime, DOWN foot switch controls phrase looper, UP foot switch controls drum.

KNOB 1 controls LOOP VOL. Short press it to adjust MONO/ STEREO recording. Long press to enter to NR/AR selection. NR means Normal Recording as regular phrase loop operation. AR means Auto Recording, Auto Recording: Since you press LOOP foot switch, the device is ready to record phrase, while you play the instrument, the device will detect the input signal immediately to record. Long press KNOB 1 again to quit NR/AR selection.
KNOB 2 controls DRUM VOL. Short press it to enter to DRUM EQ. KNOB 2 controls BASS, KNOB 3 controls MIDDLE, KNOB 4 controls TREBLE. Short press again to quit DRUM EQ.

KNOB 3 controls TEMPO. Rotate KNOB 3 to adjust DRUM BPM, and you can tap KNOB 3 to do Tap Tempo. KNOB 4 controls STYLE. Rotate KNOB 4 to adjust DRUM style.

Double press CTRL to exit DRUM & LOOPER.
Press UP & CTRL foot switch, then you can enter to TUNER.

Rotate KNOB 1 to switch CHROMATIC or COMPEN. G , press KNOB 1 to switch Mute or Listening. Note: COMPEN. G is guitar compensation tuning algorithm.
Double press CTRL foot switch to exit TUNER.

  • DC POWER SWITCH
    Turn ON / OFF MG-30 through the switch.

  • DC JACK
    Connect the original adaptor to the jack.

  • USB
    Connect the USB cable to computer for firmware update, USB recording, or Quick Tone edit software editing.
    Note: Connect USB cable to computer, and hold UP & DOWN foot switch to turn on MG-30, then you can enter to DFU(Device Firmware Update) mode to do firmware update. For more details, please visit product page to check the firmware update instruction and download the newest firmware & QuickTone edit software.

  • OUTPUT JACKS
    L out is for mono, R out is for right side while stereo application.

  • SEND / RETURN JACKS
    You can connect with other effect pedals through SEND / RETURN. You can check S/R current block position on the display.

  • 1/8″ PHONE JACK
    Connect your headphone to the 1/8″ phone jack. The phone out is related to OUTPUT.

  • 1/8″ AUX IN
    Connect your MP3 player to the 1 /8″ AUX IN jack for playback.

  • INPUT JACK
    Connect your guitar to INPUT jack.

  • EXP1
    1/4″ TRS jack, connect an external expression pedal here, or the additional NMP-2.

Global Setting

Here we will explain more details about GLOBAL SETTING, actually it’s very intuitive, you can follow the UI to operate easily.
Hold HOME/GLOBAL button to enter to GLOBAL SETTING.

PRE EQ
You can adjust input trim and 3 band EQ to fix the guitar sound as you prefer.

OUTPUT MODE
You can choose the suitable output mode with related connection. While you choose COMBO FRONT / STACK FRONT, MG-3O will bypass IR(Cab) block. In output mode, MG-3O offers 3 band EQ to let you tweak global sound be suitable for current environment.

EXP SETUP
Firstly you can adjust EXP to be independent with patch or related to patch. It means if you choose EXP Ind., you can
keep EXP engaged even move to the next patch.

USB ROUTING
Besides USB ROUTING in GLOBAL SETTING, you can adjust USB routing in Quick Tone edit software.

DISPLAY
Adjust the display brightness.

PARA. FOLLOW
If you engage PARA. FOLLOW, while you leave the current efx model, MG-3O will remember the parameters while you choose the model again. If you turn off PARA. FOLLOW, while you choose the efx model, it will use default parameters.

FACTORY DEFAULT
You can recall the factory preset.
