NUX MG-30 Versatile Modeler Multi Effect Pedal
IMPORTANT NOTICE
- In response to requests from our valued users, we have decided to introduce the ‘Pro Scene’ feature to the NUX MG-30 with the V5 firmware update. This feature allowed for using different models or applying various settings for the same model in different scenes. However, this change will result in compatibility issues with patches from all previous firmware versions, as the underlying data structure had to be altered. Luckily, our engineers have resolved these compatibility issues with the V4 firmware patch. Yet, it’s worth noting that all patches prior to V4 will not be compatible.
- The MG-30 comes in two versions: the Global (English) Version and the Domestic (Mandarin/Chinese) Version. If you have the Domestic version, kindly ensure to download the firmware from the Chinese site: https://cn.nux audio.com/mg30.html
Step by step guide
-
Backup User Presets.
Please note that upgrading the firmware will reset all user settings. Therefore, we recommend backing up your user presets before proceeding with the firmware upgrade. If there are no presets you wish to keep, you may skip this step. -

1. Visit [NUX MG-30 webpage](https://www.nuxaudio.com/mg30.html) using your preferred broswer.
2. Scroll the page down a little bit , click the Support tag to jump down to the Support section of the product page. This is where you can find the documentations, new firmware, editor software and drivers etc.
3. Download either the Windows or Mac firmware update kit depending on your operating system.
4. Unzip the downloaded file, you should get a folder that contains one “NUX Device Updater” and a .bin file(the actual binary firmware file).

Final Checks(IMPORTANT)
- After the firmware update, the MG-30 may take longer to boot up for the first time, which is normal. Please do not turn off the MG-30 or unplug the power supply during this time.
- Once the MG-30 is turned on, we strongly recommend performing a factory reset and recalibrating the expression pedal.
- If you have set a custom boot-up image, you may notice a temporary screen glitch. This is normal, as the image file was erased during the firmware update process. You can reupload the custom boot-up image at a later time.
- At this point, please download the latest version of the Quick Tone Editor to reload your custom presets back to the MG-30. Remember, only V4 presets are compatible. We also recommend deleting or archiving the previous version of the Quick Tone Editor software to avoid any issues.
