OPERATION AND TEST
Ensure that the area is well ventilated before performing a test. Make sure that the battery connections are clean. If necessary, clean them using a wire brush. Any presence of oxidation between the tester terminals and the battery connectors or between the battery connectors and the battery terminals reduces the effectiveness of the tester.
If the battery is out of the vehicle:
Connect the negative plug (black) to the negative terminal of the battery. Connect the positive plug (red) to the positive terminal of the battery.
If the battery is in the vehicle:
As there may be some electricity between the generator and the battery, called floating electricity, if the battery tester is connected directly to the battery, only the floating power will be tested, not the power inside the battery, so the result is inaccurate. Therefore, before connecting the tester to the battery, it is better to ignite first, turn on the headlights to remove the floating electricity. After that make sure that the ignition and the consumers are switched off. Connect the negative plug (black) to the negative terminal of the battery. Connect the positive plug (red) to the positive terminal of the battery
Once the battery tester is well connected to the battery, the display will light on to indicate tester version and battery voltage.
Voltmeter:
12.40V
Tester will display the following contents after press any key.

CRANKING TEST
Cranking test is the Engine ignition test. This test allows to check if the battery can provide enough power to start the engine. It tests the battery instant voltage once start the engine. If cranking voltage value is lower than 9.6V, the result is considered as abnormal. If the result is higher than 9.6V, the result is considered as Normal.
Tester prompts as following:
CHARGING TEST (ALTERNATOR TEST)
Tester prompts as following:
-
Charging Test result: Normal
Charging system shows the generator output normal, no problem detected. -
Charging Test result: Low
Charging volt of the charging system is low. Check drive belt of the generator whether slip or running off. Check the connection between generator and battery is normal or not. If both of the drive belt and the connection are in good condition, follow the manufacturer’s suggestion to eliminate generator fault. -
Charging test result: High
Generator output volt is high. Since most of the vehicle generators are using internal regulator, the generator assembly has to be replaced.(Some old style cars are using external regulator, then directly replace the regulator.). The normal high volt of the voltage regulator is maximum 14.7±0.5V. If charging volt is too high, it will overcharge the battery. Therefore the battery life will be shortened and troubles will be caused. -
No Volt Output:
No generator volt output is detected. Check the generator connection cable and the belt whether they are normal. -
Diode Test:
Through the test of charging current ripple, tester will find out whether the diode is normal or not. When ripple volt is too high, it proves at least one diode is damaged. Check and replace the diode.
