This document contains the installation instructions for the BRKT-J24 wall mount kit. These wall mount brackets are used to install an Allied Telesis switch to a wall.

Installation Using the BRKT-J24 Kit

Introduction
The BRKT-J24 wall mount kit allows you to install a switch on a wall.
Guidelines for Installation
Here is a list of guidelines to installing a switch on a wall using the
BRKT-J24 wall mount kit.
- See the Installation Guide of your switch to find out if your switch should be installed using the BRKT-J24 wall mount kit.
- If rubber feet are attached to the switch, remove them.
- Review the safety precautions listed in the installation guide of your switch before installing the switch.
- The BRKT-J24 brackets can be applied to the switch as shown in Figure 1. However, your switch might have restrictions. See the installation guide of your switch for approved installation orientations of the switch.

Guidelines for Bracket Holes
Here is a list of guidelines for bracket holes to attach your switch to the brackets and attach the brackets to the wall.

The number of screws required to attach the brackets to the switch depends upon your switch. Refer to the installation guide of your switch.

When you use two screws per bracket to install your switch to a wall, the two screws must be diagonally on the bracket plate as shown in Figure 2.

For the key-hole slots on the bracket plate to a wall:
- With a pencil, mark the smaller holes of the key-hole slots on the wall.
- Install screws where you just marked on the wall. Leave them loose enough so that you can slide the bracket under the screw heads.
- Install the brackets on the screws by sliding the key-hole slots under the screw heads. See Figure 3.

Unpacking the BRKT-J24 Wall Mount Kit
To unpack the BRKT-J24 wall mount kit, perform the following procedure:

Remove all components from the shipping package.
Note
Store the packaging material in a safe location. You must use the original shipping material if you need to return the unit to Allied Telesis. -
Verify that One pair of brackets is included in your wall mount package listed in Table 1.

Installing the Switch on a Wall Using the BRKT-J24 Brackets
This section shows you steps to install a switch on a wall using the BRKT-J24 wall mount bracket kit.
What to Prepare for Wall Installation
You need the following items to install the switch on a wall:
- Four BRKT-J24 brackets
- 16 M4mm x 6mm screws to attach the brackets to the switch (included in the BRKT-J24 kit)
- Eight 4mm x 32mm wood screws for wall mounting (not included)
- Philiips-head screwdriver
- Pencil
- Drill
Note
You must provide screws and plastic anchors to hold the brackets securely to the wall, a Phillips-head screw driver, and a pencil, and a drill.
Installing the Switch on a Wall
To install the switch on a wall, perform the following procedure:

Review “Guidelines for Installation” on page 10. and “Guidelines for Bracket Holes” on page 11 before performing this procedure.

Place all the items from the packaging on a work table.

If rubber feet were previously attached to the switch, remove them.

Attach each bracket to the switch using four screws as shown in Figure 4.
Note
Your switch might require only three screws per bracket. See the installation guide of your switch and follow the instructions.

While another person holds the switch at the wall location, mark the holes with a pencil. For the key-hole slots, mark the smaller holes of the slots. See Figure 5.

Pre-drill the marked holes.

Screw four screws to the pre-drilled holes that are closer to the switch, leaving space between the screw heads and the wall. See Figure 6.

Install the brackets on the screws by sliding the key-hole slots under the screw heads. See Figure 7.

Tighten the four screws to secure the switch to the wall.

Install the other four screws to the rest of the pre-drilled holes. See Figure 8.
