Work area safety

  • Keep work area clean and well lit. Cluttered and dark areas invite accidents.
  • Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases or dust. Power tools create sparks which may ignite the dust or fumes.
  • Keep children and bystanders away while operating a power tool. Distractions can cause you to lose control

Electrical safety

Personal safety

  • Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use common sense when operating a power tool. Do not use a power tool while you are tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol or medication. A moment of inattention while operating power tools may result in serious personal injury.
  • Use safety equipment. Always wear eye protection. Safety equipment such as dust masks, non-skid safety shoes, hard hat, or hearing protection used for appropriate conditions will reduce personal injuries.
  • Prevent unintentional starting. Ensure the switch is in the off-position before connecting to a power source and/or battery pack, picking up or carrying the tool. Carrying power tools with your finger on the switch or energizing power tools that have the switch on invites accidents.
  • Remove any adjusting key or wrench before turning the power tool on. A wrench or a key left attached to a rotating part of the power tool may result in personal injury.
  • Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at all times. This enables better control of the power tool in unexpected situations.

  • Do not let familiarity gained from the frequent use of tools allow you to become complacent and ignore tool safety principles. A careless action can cause severe injury within a fraction of a second.

Power tool use and care

  • Do not force the power tool. Use the correct power tool for your application. The correct power tool will do the job better and safer at the rate for which it was designed.
  • Do not use the power tool if the switch does not turn it on and off. Any power tool that cannot be controlled with the switch is dangerous and must be repaired.
  • Disconnect the plug from the power source before making any adjustments, changing accessories, or storing power tools. Such preventive safety measures reduce the risk of starting the power tool accidentally.

  • Use the power tool, accessories and tool bits etc., in accordance with these instructions and in the manner intended for the particular type of power tool, taking into account the working conditions and the work to be performed. Use of the power tool for operations different from intended could result in a hazardous situation.
  • Keep handles and grasping surfaces dry, clean and free from oil and grease. Slippery handles and grasping surfaces do not allow for safe handling and control of the tool in unexpected situations.

Service

  • Have your power tool serviced by a qualified repair person using only identical replacement parts. This will ensure that the safety of the power tool is maintained.

Safety instructions for mitre saws

  • Mitre saws are intended to cut wood or wood-like products, they cannot be used with abrasive cut-off wheels for cutting ferrous material such as bars, rods, studs, etc. Abrasive dust causes moving parts such as the lower guard to jam. Sparks from abrasive cutting will burn the lower guard, the kerf insert and other plastic parts.

  • Use clamps to support the workpiece whenever possible. If supporting the workpiece by hand, you must always keep your hand at least 100 mm from either side of the saw blade.
    Do not use this saw to cut pieces that are too small to be securely clamped or held by hand. If your hand is placed too close to the saw blade, there is an increased risk of injury from blade contact.

  • The workpiece must be stationary and clamped or held against both the fence and the table. Do not feed the workpiece into the blade or cut “freehand” in any way. Unrestrained or moving workpieces could be thrown at high speeds, causing injury.

  • Push the saw through the workpiece. Do not pull the saw through the workpiece. To make a cut, raise the saw head and pull it out over the workpiece without cutting, start the motor, press the saw head down, and push the saw through the workpiece. Cutting on the pull stroke is likely to cause the saw blade to climb on top of the workpiece and violently throw the blade assembly toward the operator.

  • Never cross your hand over the intended line of cutting either in front or behind the saw blade. Supporting the workpiece “cross-handed” i.e. holding the workpiece to the right of the saw blade with your left hand or vice versa is very dangerous.

  • Do not reach behind the fence with either hand closer than 100mmfromeither side of the saw blade, to remove wood scraps, or for any other reason while the blade is spinning. The proximity of the spinning saw blade to your hand may not be obvious and you may be seriously injured.

  • Inspect your workpiece before cutting. If the workpiece is bowed or warped, clamp it with the outside bowed face toward the fence. Always make certain that there is no gap between the workpiece, fence, and table along the line of the cut. Bent or warped workpieces can twist or shift and may cause binding on the spinning saw blade while cutting. There should be no nails or foreign objects in the workpiece.

  • Do not use the saw until the table is clear of all tools, wood scraps, etc., except for the workpiece. Small debris or loose pieces of wood or other objects that contact the revolving blade can be thrown at high speed.

  • Cut only one workpiece at a time. Stacked multiple workpieces cannot be adequately clamped or braced and may bind on the blade or shift during cutting.

  • Ensure the miter saw is mounted or placed on a level, firm work surface before use. A level and firm work surface reduces the risk of the mitre saw becoming unstable.

  • Plan your work. Every time you change the bevel or mitre angle setting, make sure the adjustable fence is set correctly to support the workpiece and will not interfere with the blade or the guarding system. Without turning the tool ²ON² and with no workpiece on the table, move the saw blade through a complete simulated cut to assure there will be no interference or danger of cutting the fence.

  • Provide adequate support such as table extensions, saw horses, etc. for a workpiece that is wider or longer than the tabletop. Workpieces longer or wider than the mitre saw table can tip if not securely supported. If the cut-off piece or workpiece tips, it can lift the lower guard or be thrown by the spinning blade.

  • Do not use another person as a substitute for a table extension or as additional support.
    Unstable support for the workpiece can cause the blade to bind or the workpiece to shift during the cutting operation pulling you and the helper into the spinning blade.

  • The cut-off piece must not be jammed or pressed by any means against the spinning saw blade. If confined, i.e. using length stops, the cut-off piece could get wedged against the blade and thrown violently.

  • Always use a clamp or a fixture designed to properly support round material such as rods or tubing. Rods have a tendency to roll while being cut, causing the blade to ²bite² and pull the work with your hand into the blade.

  • Let the blade reach full speed before contacting the workpiece. This will reduce the risk of the workpiece being thrown.

  • If the workpiece or blade becomes jammed, turn the mitre saw off. Wait for all moving parts to stop and disconnect the plug from the power source and/or remove the battery pack. Then work to free the jammed material. Continued sawing with a jammed workpiece could cause loss of control or damage to the mitre saw.

  • After finishing the cut, release the switch, hold the saw head down, and wait for the blade to stop before removing the cut-off piece. Reaching with your hand near the coasting blade is dangerous.

  • Hold the handle firmly when making an incomplete cut or when releasing the switch before the saw head is completely in the down position. The braking action of the saw may cause the saw head to be suddenly pulled downward, causing a risk of injury.

CAUTION!
Use of controls or adjustments or performance of procedures other than those specified herein may result in hazardous radiation exposure.

Extra instructions for this mitre saws

EMERGENCY
Familiarize yourself with the use of this product by means of this instruction manual. Memorize the safety directions and follow them to the letter. This will help to prevent risks and hazards.

  1. Always be alert when using this product, so that you can recognize and handle risks early. Fast intervention can prevent serious injury and damage to property.
  2. Switch off and disconnect from the power supply if there is any malfunction. Have the product checked by a qualified specialist and repaired, if necessary, before you put it into operation again.

RESIDUAL RISKS
Even if you use this electric power tool in accordance with instructions, certain residual risks cannot be ruled out. The following hazards may arise in con-nection with the equipment’s construction and layout:

  1. Lung damage if no suitable protective dust mask is used.
  2. Damage to hearing if no suitable ear protection is used.
  3. Health damage is caused by hand-arm vibrations if the equipment is used over a prolonged period or is not properly guided and maintained.

WARNING!
For your own safety read the instruction manual before operating the miter saw. Wear eye protection. Keep hands out of the path of the saw blade. Do not operate the saw without guards in place. Do not perform any operation freehand. Never reach around the saw blade. Turn off the tool and wait for the saw blade to stop before moving the workpiece or changing settings. When changing the blade, replace and secure all guarding to its original position and correctly before starting the tool. Disconnect the power (or unplug the tool as applicable) before changing the blade or servicing. Do not expose to rain or use in damp locations. To reduce the risk of injury, return the carriage to the full rear position after each crosscut operation.

The tool must be used only for its prescribed purpose. Any use other than those mentioned in this manual will be considered a case of misuse. The user and not the manufacturer shall be liable for any damage or injury resulting from such cases of misuse. The manufacturer shall not be liable for any changes made to the tool nor for any damage resulting from such changes.

Even when the tool is used as prescribed it is not possible to eliminate all residual risk factors. The following hazards may arise in connection with the tool’s construction and design:

  • Damage to the lungs if an effective dust mask is not worn.
  • Damage to hearing if effective earmuffs are not worn.

Operating instructions

Warning!
Be sure the supply is the same as the voltage given on the rating plate. Remove the mains plug before carrying out any adjustments or servicing.

INTENDED USE
This miter saw is intended for cutting wood and analogue materials, it is suitable for straight and curved cuts having Mitre angles of up to 45°. The saw is not designed for cutting firewood. Do not use machines, tools, and accessories for additional applications (see manufacturer’s instructions) for works other than those for which they are designed. All other applications are expressly ruled out.

NOT INTENDED USE
If not intended for use, the risk of fire, electric shock, and personal injury may be further and The provisions contained in this guarantee are not intended to limit, modify, take away from, disclaim, or exclude any statutory guarantee set forth in any applicable provincial or federal legislation.

TRANSPORTATION
Lift the miter saw only when the saw arm is locked in the down position, the saw is switched off and the plug is removed fro the powerpoint. Only lift the saw by the operating handle (1) or outer castings. Do not lift the saw using the guards.

BENCH MOUNTING
The saw base has holes in each corner to facilitate bench mounting.

  1. Place the saw on a level, horizontal bench or work table using bolts (not supplied) and fix the saw to the bench using 4 bolts.
  2. If desired, you can mount the saw to a piece of 1/2” (13 mm) or thicker plywood which can then be clamped to your work support or moved to other job sites and re-clamped.

CAUTION!
Make sure that the mounting surface is not warped as an uneven surface can cause binding and inaccurate sawing.

LOCKING BOLT
The Locking bolt (26) is provided for holding the cutting head down while transporting or storing the mitre saw. The saw must never be used with the release knob locking the head down.

MITRE TABLE LOCKS
The miter table locks (24) are used to lock the table at the desired mitre angle. The mitre saw cuts from 0° to 45° both left and right. To adjust the mitre angle loosen the mitre table locks and rotate the mitre table to the desired position. The mitre table features positive click stops at 0°, 15°, 22.5°, 30°, and 45° for quick setting of common mitre angles.

BEVEL LOCK
The bevel lock (22) is used to set the blade at the desired bevel angle. The mitre saw bevel cuts from 0° to 45° to the left. To adjust the bevel angle loosen the bevel lock and adjust the saw arm to the desired bevel angle.

SPINDLE LOCK BUTTON
The spindle lock button (3) prevents the blade in the saw from rotating. Depress and hold the spindle lock button while installing, changing, or removing the blade.

ROTATING LOWER BLADE GUARD
The rotating lower blade guard (6) provides protection from both sides of the blade. It retracts over the upper blade guard (4) as the saw is lowered into the workpiece.

TURNING ON AND OFF

  1. To turn the saw on move the switch lever (2) to the left and depress and hold the on/off trigger switch (19)
  2. To turn the saw off release the on/off trigger switch (19).

DUST EXTRACTION

  1. Fit the dust bag (21) to the dust extraction port (20).
  2. A vacuum dust extraction device can be connected to the dust extraction port (20). Use a suitable vacuum adaptor if necessary. The dust extraction port has an internal diameter of 35 mm.

Setting the table square with the blade

  1. Make sure that the electrical plug is removed from the powerpoint.
  2. Push the operating handle (1) down to its lowest position and engage the locking bolt (26) to hold the saw arm in the transport position.
  3. Loosen the mitre locks (24).
  4. Rotate the table (13) until the pointer is positioned at 0º.
  5. Tighten the mitre locks (24).
  6. Loosen the bevel lock (22) and set the operating handle (1) at 0º bevel (the blade at 90º to the mitre table). Tighten the bevel lock (22).
  7. Place a set square against the table (13) and the flat part of the blade.
  8. Rotate the blade by hand and check the blade-to-table alignment at several points.
  9. The edge of the set square and the saw blade should be parallel.
  10. If the saw blade angles are away from the set square, adjust as follows.
  11. Use an 8 mm wrench or adjustable wrench to loosen the lock nut securing the 0 ° bevel adjustment screw. Also, loosen the bevel lock (22).
  12. Adjust the 0° bevel adjustment screw using a 4 mm hex key to bring the saw blade into alignment with the square.
  13. Loosen the Phillips head screw holding the pointer of the bevel scale (23) and adjust the position of the pointer so that it accurately indicates zero on the scale. Retighten the screw.
  14. Retighten the bevel lock (22) and the lock nut securing the 0° bevel adjustment screw.

Setting the fence square with the table

  1. Make sure that the electrical plug is removed from the powerpoint.
  2. Push the operating handle (1) down to its lowest position and engage the release knob (26) to hold the saw arm in the transport position.
  3. Loosen the mitre locks (24).
  4. Rotate the table (13) until the pointer is positioned at 0º.
  5. Tighten the mitre locks (24).
  6. Using a 4 mm hex key, loosen the two screws securing the fence (8) to the base.
  7. Place a square against the fence (8) and alongside the blade.
  8. Adjust the fence (8) until it is square with the blade.
  9. Tighten the screws securing the fence (8).
  10. Loosen the Phillips head screw holding the pointer of the mitre scale (11) and adjust it so that it accurately indicates the zero position on the mitre scale.
  11. Retighten the screw securing the mitre scale pointer.

Changing a blade

  1. Make sure that the electrical plug is removed from the powerpoint.
  2. Press the blade guard release lever (2) and then rotate the lower retractable blade guard (6) upwards to expose the screw.
  3. Loosen the screw on the guard mounting plate (5) with the provided multi-tool.
  4. Slide the guard mounting plate (5) upwards to expose the saw blade (7). The lower retractable blade guard (6) will be held by the blade guard
  5. Press the spindle lock button (4) fully and hold it in position.
  6. Turn the clamping screw slightly with the provided multi-tool (20) until the spindle is locked.
  7. Loosen the clamping screw in a clockwise direction and remove it together with the outer flange and saw blade (7). Do not remove the inner flange from the spindle.
  8. Place a new saw blade on the spindle and make sure that the bore of the saw blade properly fits the inner flange. Ensure that the rotational direction indicated on the saw blade is the same as the one shown on the upper fixed blade guard (3).
  9. Secure the saw blade (7) with the outer flange and clamping screw. Tighten the clamping screw in an anti-clockwise direction with the provided tool.
  10. Turn the saw blade by hand to test if it is rotating smoothly. It should not flutter.
  11. Secure the guard mounting plate (5) and lower retractable blade guard (6) in reverse order as described above.
  12. Switch the product on and let it run idle for about one minute, to confirm that the saw blade has been installed properly. If you find any abnormal vibration or excessive noise switch the product off and refit the saw blade according to the above instructions.

The work clamp
There are two mounting holes for the “G” clamp. These are located just behind the fence on the left and right side of the base.

  1. Loosen the locking screw. Place the” G” clamp in the desired mounting hole. Tighten the screw to hold the work clamp.
  2. Rotating clamp knob clockwise to clamp the workpiece, and anticlockwise to lose.

Crosscut
If possible, always use a clamping device such as a ‘G” clamp to secure your workpiece. When cutting your workpiece, keep your hands well away from the blade area. Do not remove a cut-off piece on the right-hand side of the blade using your left hand. A cross-cut is made by cutting across the grain of the workpiece. A 90 º cross cut is made with the mitre table set at 0º. Mitre cross-cuts are made with the table set at some angle other than zero.

  1. Pull on the release knob (26) and lift the saw arm (1) to its full height.
  2. Loosen the mitre locks (24).
  3. Rotate the mitre table (13) until the pointer aligns with the desired angle.
  4. Retighten the mitre locks (24).
  5. Place the workpiece flat on the table with one edge securely against the fence (8). If the board is warped, place the convex side against the fence (8). If the concave side is placed against the fence, the board could break and jam the blade.
  6. When cutting a long workpiece, support the opposite end of the workpiece with side support bars, a roller stand, or a work surface that is level with the saw table.
  7. Before turning on the saw, perform a dry run of the cutting operation to check that there are no problems such as a clamp interfering with the cutting action.
  8. Hold the operating handle (1) firmly, Move the switch lever (2), and squeeze the switch trigger (19). Allow the blade to reach maximum speed and slowly lower the blade into and through the workpiece.
  9. Release the switch trigger (19) and allow the saw blade to stop rotating before raising the blade out of the workpiece. Wait until the blade stops before removing the workpiece.

Bevel cut
If possible, always use a clamping device such as a ‘G” clamp to secure your workpiece. When cutting your workpiece, keep your hands well away from the blade area. Do not remove a cut-off piece on the right-hand side of the blade using your left hand. A bevel cut is made by cutting across the grain of the workpiece with the blade angled to the fence and mitre table. The mitre table is set at the zero-degree position and the blade set at an angle between 0º and 45º.

  1. Pull on the release knob (26) and lift the saw arm to its full height.
  2. Loosen the bevel locks (22).
  3. Rotate the operating handle (1) until the pointer aligns with zero on the mitre scale (23).
  4. Retighten the bevel locks (22).
  5. Loosen the bevel lock (22) and move the saw arm (1) to the left to the desired bevel angle (between 0º and 45º). Tighten the bevel lock (22).
  6. Place the workpiece flat on the table with one edge securely against the fence (8). If the board is warped, place the convex side against the fence. If the concave side is placed against the fence, the board could break and jam the blade.
  7. When cutting a long workpiece, support the opposite end of the workpiece with side support bars, a roller stand, or a work surface that is level with the saw table.
  8. Before turning on the saw, perform a dry run of the cutting operation to check that there are no problems such as a clamp interfering with the cutting action.
  9. Hold the operating handle (1) firmly, push the switch lever (2), and squeeze the switch trigger (19). Allow the blade to reach maximum speed and slowly lower the blade into and through the workpiece.

Compound mitre cut
If possible, always use a clamping device such as a ‘G” clamp to secure your workpiece. When cutting your workpiece, keep your hands well away from the blade area. Do not remove a cut-off piece on the right-hand side of the blade using your left hand. A compound mitre cut involves using a mitre angle and a bevel angle at the same time. It is used in making picture frames, cutting moldings, making boxes with sloping sides, and roof framing. Always make a test cut on a piece of scrap wood before cutting it into good material.

  1. Pull on the release knob (26) and lift the saw arm to its full height.

  2. Loosen the mitre locks (24).

  3. Rotate the mitre table (13) until the pointer aligns with the desired angle on the mitre scale (11).

  4. Retighten the mitre locks (24).

  5. Loosen the bevel lock (22) and move the saw arm (1) to the left to the desired bevel angle(between 0º and 45º). Tighten the bevel lock (22).

  6. Place the workpiece flat on the table with one edge securely against the fence (8). If the board is warped, place the convex side against the fence. If the concave side is placed against the fence, the board could break and jam the blade.

  7. When cutting a long workpiece, support the opposite end of the workpiece with the side support bars, a roller stand or a work surface that is level with the saw table.

  8. Before turning on the saw, perform a dry run of the cutting operation to check that there are no problems such as a clamp interfering with the cutting action.

  9. Hold the operating handle (1) and firmly, push the switch lever, and squeeze the switch trigger (19).
    Allow the blade to reach maximum speed and slowly lower the blade into and through the workpiece.

  10. Release the switch trigger (19) and allow the saw blade to stop rotating before raising the blade out of the workpiece. Wait until the blade stops before removing the workpiece.

Maintenance

WARNING:
Remove the plug from the socket before carrying out any adjustment, servicing or maintenance.

  1. When all the adjustments, settings or maintenance have been done, make sure that all keys and wrenches have been removed and that all screws, bolts, and other fittings are securely tightened.
  2. Keep the tool’s air vents unclogged and clean at all times. Occasionally you may see sparks through the ventilation slots. This is normal and will not damage your power tool.
  3. Regularly check to see if any dust or foreign matter has entered the grills near the motor and around the trigger switch. Use a soft brush to remove any accumulated dust.
  4. Wear safety glasses to protect your eyes whilst cleaning.
  5. If the body of the saw needs cleaning, wipe it with a soft damp cloth. A mild detergent can be used but nothing like alcohol, petrol or another cleaning agent.
  6. Never use caustic agents to clean plastic parts.
  7. Store the tool, instruction manual, and accessories in a secure place. In this way you will always have all the information and parts on hand.

CAUTION:
Water must never come into contact with the saw.

General inspection

  1. Regularly check that all the fixing screws are tight. They may vibrate loose over time. Check especially the outer flange. If there is vibration, screws can loosen with time.
  2. Regularly check the device’s power cable and all extension cables used for damage. If the supply cord needs replacing, the task must be carried out by the manufacturer, the manufacturer’s agent, or an authorized service center in order to avoid a safety hazard. Replace damaged extension cables.
  3. If the carbon brushes need to be replaced, have this done by a qualified repair person (always replace the two brushes at the same time).

This means that this product shall not be discarded with household waste but that it shall be returned to a collection system that conforms to the European WEEE Directive. Service

  • Tool service must be performed only by qualified repair personnel. Service or maintenance performed by unqualified personnel could result in a risk of injury.
  • When servicing a tool, use only identical replacement parts. Follow the instructions in the Maintenance section of this manual. Use of unauthorized parts or failure to follow Maintenance Instructions may create a risk of electric shock or injury.
