Talking Low-Profile Health Scale Operation Manual
This device is operated in the frequency band(s) and the maximum output power
(E.I.R.P): 2402MHz – 2480MHz: 5.25dBm
The suitable temperature for the product and accessories is 0 to +40 ºC. This
product can be used across EU member states.

UNPACKING
Before using your scale, make certain the scale has been received in good condition. When removing the scale from its packing, inspect it for signs of damage, such as exterior dents and scratches. Keep the carton and packing material for return shipment if it should become necessary. It is the responsibility of the purchaser to file all claims for any damages or loss incurred during transit.
POWER-UP INITIALIZATION
- Turn the scale over and locate the removable panel on the bottom of the scale.
- Remove the panel by pushing in on the tab and lifting it up to access the battery holder.
- Install the included four (4) “AAA” size alkaline or carbon-zinc batteries, noting the polarity markings located in the battery holder.
- After placing all four (4) batteries in the holder, replace the panel.
- The scale will turn on, the display will show all segments, change to a moving o , and then change to show “ lb”. If not, remove the panel and check for one or more improperly positioned batteries.
- The scale has completed initialization and is ready for operation.
WEIGHING UNIT SWITCH
The weighting unit switch is a push-button switch located on the bottom of the
scale. Pressing the switch will toggle the weighing units between kg
(kilograms) and lb (pounds).
NOTE: The default weighing unit setting is lb.
- With the scale off, using the end of a pen, press the push button.
- The Zero-weight and current weighing unit settings will be shown on the display, e.g., “ kg”.
- Press the push-button again to toggle to lb.
- The Zero-weight and new weighing unit settings will be shown on the display, e.g., “ lb”.
VOICE LANGUAGE SELECTION

With the scale off, press and hold the button for at least 5 seconds.

The scale display will show the default language En (English).
-
Press the or to toggle the voice language selection between:
• = English
• = Spanish
• = OFF (no voice) -
Press the button when you have made your selection.
-
The display will change to show End, and then turn off the scale.
NOTE: The voice language selection is saved in EEPROM and will not change when replacing the batteries.
LOW BATTERY
When the battery voltage has dropped too low for accurate weighing, the
**Lo**
message will be displayed for 2 seconds, and the scale will
automatically turn off. Remove the old
batteries and replace them with new batteries before continuing operation.
INSTALLING THE CARPET FEET
If you are using your scale on a carpet, we recommend that you use the
included carpet feet.
To install the carpet feet, perform the following:
- Remove the four (4) carpet feet from the packaging.
- Turn the scale over and locate the four (4) existing feet on the bottom of the scale.
- Align the prongs of one carpet foot with the holes in one of the scale’s existing feet.
- Insert the carpet foot prongs into the holes, making sure the prongs align straight up and down with the holes of the scale foot.
- Be careful not to twist the carpet foot, and with even pressure, gently push straight down on the carpeted foot to seat it into the scale foot.
- Repeat steps 3 through 5 for the other three (3) scale feet.
OPERATION
Weighing Only Mode
-
Step on the scale. It will turn on automatically.
-
The scale will measure your weight. Once stable, the display will blink several times and then lock onto your weight. If the voice mode is on, the scale will announce your weight (in the selected language and weighing units).
For example, if (English) has been selected for the language and lb (pounds) for the weighing units, the scale will speak “Your weight is 163.5 pounds” in English. -
If you step off the scale before a stable weight is obtained, the scale will display “ lb” for 5 seconds, then a moving zero will be shown on the display, and then the scale will automatically turn off.

When step off the scale (after a stable weight is obtained), your weight will be displayed for 5 seconds, then a moving zero will be shown on the display, and the scale will
automatically turn off. -
If you are on the scale for over 20 seconds, the scale will automatically turn off without showing the moving zero on the display.

Step off the scale. Your weight will continue to be displayed for approximately 5 seconds, and then the scale will automatically turn off.
NOTE: If the voice mode is on, the scale will say “Goodbye” (in the selected language) when it automatically turns off.
Weighing with BMI Functions
-
With the scale off, press the or button.
-
The scale will display the default height, or the last height setting used.
• If lb (pounds) were selected for the weighing units, the default height is 5’ 10.0”.
• If kg (kilograms) were selected for the weighing units, the default height is 178.0 cm. -
Press the or button to adjust the height, press to confirm.
-
When the height value is confirmed, the display will change to show “ lb”.

Step on the scale and stand still while your weight is measured.
-
The display will blink several times, lock onto your weight, blink your weight several times, and then show your BMI value.
-
If the voice mode is on, the scale will announce your weight, and then announce your BMI (in the selected language and weighing/height units).
For example, if (English) has been selected for the language and lb (pounds) for the weighing units, the scale will speak “Your weight is 163.5 pounds, Your BMI is 22.8” in English. -
Step off the scale. Your BMI will continue to be displayed for approximately 5 seconds, and then the scale will automatically turn off.
NOTE: If the voice mode is on, the scale will say “Goodbye” (in the selected language) when it automatically turns off.
Mother and Baby Weighing Mode

With the scale off, press the button to enter the Mother and Baby weighing mode.

The display will change to show “ lb” with the icon flashing.
-
The mother steps on the scale.
-
The display will blink several times and then lock onto the mother’s weight with the icon on. If the voice mode is on, the scale will announce your weight (in the selected language and weighing units).
For example, if (English) has been selected for the language and lb (pounds) for the weighing units, the scale will speak “Your weight is 122.5 pounds” in English. -
When the mother steps off the scale, the display will change to show “ lb” with the icon flashing which means the scale is ready to weigh the baby.

The mother steps onto the scale with the baby.
-
The display will blink several times showing the combined weight of the mother and baby and then lock onto the baby’s weight with the icon on. If the voice mode is on, the scale will announce the baby’s weight (in the selected language and weighing units).
For example, if (English) has been selected for the language and lb (pounds) for the weighing units, the scale will speak “The baby weight is 11.4 pounds” in English.
NOTE: If the baby’s weight is lower than 2.2 lb (1kg), the scale will display “….. “. -
The mother steps off the scale with the baby.

The display will change to show “ lb” with the icon flashing.
-
To weigh another baby, repeat steps 3 through 8.
-
If there are no weighing operations within 15 seconds, a moving zero will be shown on the display, and the scale will automatically turn off. If the voice mode is on, the scale will say “Goodbye” (in the selected language) when it automatically turns off.
NOTE: When the scale is turned on again, it will be in normal weighing mode.
BLUETOOTH FUNCTIONS
Bluetooth Pairing
To pair a Bluetooth-capable device with the scale, select the name of the
scale “Chipset-BLE” from the list of available connections.

TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE
The following guide will assist you in determining errors and problems you may encounter with your Detecto ® SlimPro Low-Profile Health Scale.
SYMPTOM | POSSIBLE CAUSE | POSSIBLE SOLUTION |

Error | Step off the scale. Press lightly on the scale to re-initialize it. The |
display will show a moving zero and then turn off. The scale is ready for use
again.

weight| Repeat weighing measurement again, standing very still while the
weight computation is in process.
Erre is displayed for about 2 seconds and the scale turns off.| Weight on
scale exceeds scale capacity.| Ensure the scale is empty and not touching
anything before stepping on it to weigh. If the scale continues to show Er r
2, contact your scale service representative.
L o is displayed for about 2 seconds and the scale turns off.| One or more
batteries are too low for accurate weighing and should be replaced.| Remove
the battery panel on the bottom of the scale. Replace all four (4) batteries,
and then re-install the battery panel.
The scale will not turn on after replacing the batteries.| One or more
batteries may be installed incorrectly.| Remove the battery panel on the
bottom of the scale. Verify that all four (4) batteries are installed
correctly in the battery holder, and then re-install the battery panel.
Scale is displaying weight in wrong weighing units.| Wrong weighing units were

weighing units switch on the bottom of the scale to toggle to correct weighing
units.
Scale is speaking weight in the wrong language or not at all.| Wrong voice

The weight displayed is wrong or the display is erratic.| Is scale used on
carpeted or non-carpeted floors? Carpet feet should be installed when the
scale is used on a carpeted floor_
On a non-carpeted floor, carpet feet should not be installed.| If the scale is
used on a carpeted floor, check if the carpet feet are installed. If not,
install the carpet feet and perform the weighing operation again. If the scale
continues to show wrong or erratic weight, move the scale to a non-carpeted
floor and perform the weighing operation again. If on a non-carpeted floor,
and the scale continues to show wrong or erratic weight. contact your scale
service representative.
STATEMENT OF LIMITED WARRANTY
Detecto Scale warrants its equipment to be free from defects in material and
workmanship as follows: Detecto warrants to the original purchaser only that
it will repair or replace any part of equipment which is defective in material
or workmanship for a period of two (2) years from date of shipment. Detecto
shall be the sole judge of what constitutes a defect. During the first ninety
(90) days Detecto may choose to replace the product at no charge to the buyer
upon inspection of the returned item.
After the first ninety (90) days, upon inspection of the returned item,
Detecto will repair or replace it with a remanufactured product. The customer
is responsible for paying for the freight both ways. This warranty does not
apply to peripheral equipment not manufactured by Detecto; this equipment will
be covered by a certain manufacturer’s warranty only. This warranty does not
include the replacement of expendable or consumable parts. This does not apply
to any item which has deteriorated or damaged due to wear, accident, misuse,
abuse, improper line voltage, overloading, theft, lightning, fire, water or
acts of God, or due to extended storage or exposure while in purchaser’s
possession. This warranty does not apply to maintenance services. Purchased
parts will have a ninety (90) day repair or replacement warranty only. Detecto
may require the suspect product to be returned to the factory; item(s) must be
properly packed and shipping charges prepaid. A return authorization number
must be obtained for all returns and marked on the outside of all returned
packages. Detecto accepts no responsibility for loss or damage in transit.
STATEMENT OF LIMITED WARRANTY
Conditions Which Void Limited Warranty
This warranty shall not apply to equipment that:
A.) Has been tampered with, defaced, mishandled or has had repairs and
modifications not authorized by Detecto.
B.) Has had serial number altered, defaced, or removed.
C.) Has not been grounded according to Detecto’s recommended procedure.
Freight Carrier Damage
Claims for equipment damaged in transit must be referred to the freight
carrier in accordance with freight carrier regulations. This warranty sets
forth the extent of our liability for breach of any warranty or deficiency in
connection with the sale or use of the product. Detecto will not be liable for
consequential damages of any nature, including but not limited to, loss of
profit, delays or expenses, whether based on tort or contract. Detecto
reserves the right to incorporate improvements in material and design without
notice and is not obligated to incorporate improvements in equipment
previously manufactured. The foregoing is in lieu of all other warranties,
express or implied including any warranty that extends beyond the description
of the product including any warranty of merchantability or fitness for a
particular purpose. This warranty covers only those Detecto products installed
in the forty-eight (48) contiguous continental the United States.
