Filling the water tank
After unpacking, remove the water tank from the machine and remove the cap at
the bottom of the tank. Rinse the tank with clean water and wipe dry.
Pour clean and cold water into the tank and put the lid back on. When filling
the tank, always follow the minimum and maximum lines marked on the water
level window.
Never overfill the tank and make sure the lid is on.
Warning: Never refill the water tank while it is installed in the coffee
machine. If you need to fill the tank, always turn off the machine first,
unplug the power plug and remove the reservoir.
Before first use
To ensure that your first cup of coffee prepared in this coffee machine tastes
as expected, we recommend rinsing the appliance before using it for the first
time. The procedure is as follows:
-
Insert the lever with portafilter into the appliance under the LOCK mark so that the protrusions on the holder fit into the steam head. Turn the lever counterclockwise
to the CLOSE position to lock everything. -
Place the cup on the grille under the funnel.
-
Connect the appliance to electricity and switch it on with the on / off switch (z. The appliance beeps and the indicators on the control panel start flashing, indicating that the appliance is heating up.
-
Once the heating is completed, the button indicators will be lit continuously. Press the button to make two cups of coffee ( ).
-
An amount of water corresponding to two cups of espresso will flow through the appliance.
Cleaning the nozzle:
- Place a suitably deep water container under the nozzle to catch the steam. The nozzle should be sufficiently immersed in the container.
- After preheating, press the buton for creating steam ( ). The indicator flashes, indicating that the steam unit is heating up. As soon as the indicator is lit continuously, it is possible to start dispensing steam.
- Turn the steam control knob to position Allow water to flow from the nozzle until the white preheat indicator goes out (approx. 1 minute). Afterwards, return the knob to the original position OFF.
Making espresso
To prepare a cup of good, hot espresso, we recommend preheating the appliance,
including the lever, portafilter and cup, so that the taste of the coffee is
not affected by the cold parts.
- Insert the lever with portafilter into the appliance under the LOCK mark so that the protrusions on the holder fit into the steam head. Turn the lever counterclockwise to the CLOSE position to lock everything.
- Place the cup on the grille under the funnel.
- Connect the appliance to electricity and switch it on with the on / off switch (z. The appliance beeps and the indicators on the control panel start flashing, indicating that the appliance is heating up.
- Once the heating is completed, the button indicators will be lit continuously. At this point, pull the lever out of the appliance and fill it with ground coffee. Select the filter according to the required number of cups: the filter for making 1 espresso is marked by 1-cup, while the filter for 2 espresso is marked 2-cup.
- Tamp the coffee thoroughly with a tamper.
- Put the lever back in the appliance and start making coffee using the button for making one or two cups ( nebo ).
- Once the coffee is ready you can turn off the machine using the (z) switch.
Making cappuccino (using a milk frother)
When making a cappuccino, first prepare the espresso according to the
instructions in the previous chapter. After heating the brewing unit, the
temperature of the boiler is
too high for the preparation of coffee, which would negatively affect its
taste.
- Place a suitably deep container with milk under the nozzle. The nozzle should be sufficiently immersed in the container.
- Press the steam button ( ). The indicator flashes, indicating that the steam unit is heating up. As soon as the indicator is lit continuously, it is possible to start dispensing steam.
- Turn the steam control knob to position Allow the steam to flow until the desired foam density is reached. Afterwards, return the knob to the original position OFF.
- Pour the frothed milk into an already made espresso.
Hot water dispensing
-
Connect the appliance to electricity and switch it on with the on / off switch ( . The appliance beeps and the indicators on the control panel start flashing, indicating
that the appliance is heating up. -
After heating, turn the steam control knob to position . Hot water starts flowing out of the nozzle.
-
After dispensing the required amount of hot water, turn the knob back to the OFF position.
Adjust the size of the espresso cup
By default, the volume of one espresso is set to the standard size. The
machine allows you to adjust the volume when preparing one cup in the range
from 25 to 60 ml and
from 70 to 110 ml in the case of two cups.
- Connect the appliance to electricity and switch it on with the on / off switch ( . The appliance beeps and the indicators on the control panel start flashing, indicating that the appliance is heating up.
- After warming up, press and hold the button for the number of cups whose volume you want to adjust for at least 3 seconds. The appliance switches to volume setting mode (indicators and or will light up continuously, while other indicators go out).
- Press or gain. The machine starts dispensing coffee.
- When the desired amount of coffee is in the cup, press the button again. The coffee brewing stops and the required volume is saved.
Warning: To prevent damage to the pump, the machine automatically stops
after dispensing about 215 ml of water (espresso, cappuccino, hot water
dispensing) or after
about 180 seconds of steam (milk frothing).
Automatic shutoff
The appliance turns off automatically after 30 minutes of inactivity. This is
a normal occurrence. Press the power switch to switch on the coffee machine
again.
TIPS FOR MAKING GOOD COFFEE
The following factors can affect the final quality and taste of coffee:
Temperature – cold lever, portafilter and cup have a negative effect on the
result.
Preheat the portafilter and lever in hot water and dry them properly. Pour hot
water in the cup and allow it to warm up. You can also place the cups on a
surface designed for
heating cups.
The amount of coffee – small amount – coffee will be weak. Too much of coffee
– the coffee will taste strong, bitter, even astringent.
Coarseness of coffee and compaction – care must be taken that the coffee is
finely ground, though not too much and correctly tamped. The degree of
fineness of the coffee and compaction will affect the speed of the water flow
that will flow through the ground coffee through the filter and thus the
resulting taste.
Too tamped or finely ground coffee (looks like a powder and resembles smooth
flour when rubbed between the fingers) will prevent water from flowing through
the coffee, even under pressure. The resulting coffee will be dark and bitter.
Conversely, the result of too coarsely ground or lightly compacted coffee will
be odorless, sour coffee. You can tamp coarse coffee with more force, tamp
finely ground coffee with feeling. The following illustration can be used as
inspiration when preparing coffee beverages.
CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE
Regular maintenance
- Before cleaning, unplug the power cord and let the coffee machine cool down completely.
- Regularly clean the surface of the coffee machine with a damp sponge and also clean the water tank, drip tray and grid. Then dry everything.
- The drip tray is equipped with a fullness indicator. It is a float that rises when the water in the bowl reaches the maximum level.
- Do not use alcohol or detergents for cleaning. Never immerse the body of the machine in water or other liquids.
- Remove the metal lever by turning it clockwise and empty the coffee grounds. You can then clean these parts with detergent and finally rinse them with clean water.
- Wash all attachments in water and dry them thoroughly.
Descaling
In order for your coffee machine to serve you well, you need to regularly
remove limescale that may form in the internal circuit during use. The coffee
maker is equipped with an internal counter for the number of brewing cycles.
When the number of cycles reaches 500 and you switch on the machine, all the
buttons on the control panel flash five times with an accompanying beep. This
means that the descaling process needs to be carried out. The coffee maker
will alert you to descale every time you turn it on unless you cancel or
cancel it. To remove limescale, proceed as follows:
-
Fill the tank with water and descaling agent to the MAX level (the ratio of water and descaling agent should be 4: 1, see details in the instructions for descaling).
Use a “household descaler”. Instead of descaler, you can also use citric acid (it can be bought at a pharmacy or in chemical supplies). In this case, use a ratio of one hundred parts water and three parts citric acid. -
Proceed as you would make a cup of coffee, just do not put any ground coffee in the lever.
-
Press the button to make two cups of coffee ( ). Switch off the coffee machine when the flow is about halfway through. This will cause the water with the descaler to enter the coffee circuit.
-
Allow the descaler act for about 15 minutes.
-
Switch on the coffee machine and, after preheating, start dispensing two cups of coffee at least four more times.
-
Then turn the steam control knob to the position. Hot water starts flowing out of the nozzle. Allow the water to flow until all the water has drained from the tank.
-
The descaling is now finished.
-
To cancel the descaling alert and start a new coffee cycle count while the machine is in standby mode, press and hold the buttons for one cup, two cups and milk foam simultaneously for about 3 seconds. All buttons on the control panel flash three times with an accompanying sound signal.
