GENERAL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS FOR POWER TOOLS**

WARNING! Read all safety instructions and the entire manual. Failure to follow all of the following instructions may result in electric shock, fire, and/ or serious personal injury.

  • Keep all instructions and the manual for future reference.
  • The term “power tool” in all the following warnings means a mains-powered tool (movable power cord) or battery-powered power tool (without a power cord). This manual applies only to power tools that are battery powered without a power cord.

Safety in the working environment

  • The workplace must be kept clean and well lit. Clutter and dark places are often the cause of accidents.
  • Do not use power tools in explosive atmospheres where flammable liquids, gases or dust are present. Power tools create sparks that can ignite dust or fumes.
  • Keep children and other persons away when using the power tool. If you are distracted, you may lose control of the work you are doing.

Electrical safety

  • Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded objects, such as pipes, radiators, ranges and refrigerators. The risk of electric shock is greater if your body is connected to the ground.
  • Do not expose power tools to rain, moisture or wetness. If water enters a power tool, the risk of electric shock increases.

Safety of persons

  • When using a power tool, pay attention to what you are doing, concentrate and think clearly. Do not operate a power tool if you are tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol or medication. A moment’s inattention while using a power tool can result in serious personal injury.
  • Wear protective aids. Always use eye protection. Protective equipment such as a respirator, non-slip safety shoes, hard hat and hearing protection, used in accordance with the working conditions, reduces the risk of personal injury.
  • Avoid unintentional starting. Make sure the switch is off when inserting the battery or carrying the tool. Carrying the tool with your finger on the switch or with the switch on can cause accidents.
  • Remove any adjusting tools or wrenches before turning on the tool. Leaving an adjusting tool or wrench attached to the rotating part of the power tool can cause personal injury.
  • Only work in areas where the tool can safely reach. Always keep a stable posture and balance. This will give you better control of the power tool in any unforeseen situations.
  • Dress appropriately. Do not wear loose clothing or jewelers. Make sure your hair, clothing and gloves are well away from moving parts. Loose clothing, jeweler and long hair can be caught up in moving parts.
  • If means are provided for connecting dust extraction and collection equipment, make sure these are connected and properly used. The use of such equipment can reduce hazards caused by dust.

Use and care of power tools

  • Do not overload power tools. Use the correct tools for the job. The correct power tool will do the work it was designed to do better and safer.
  • Do not use power tools that cannot be turned on and off with the switch. Any power tool that cannot be operated with the switch is dangerous and must be repaired.
  • Always remove the battery before making any adjustments, changing accessories or when storing unused power tools. These precautions reduce the risk of accidentally starting the power tool.
  • Keep unused power tools out of the reach of children and do not allow persons unfamiliar with the power tool or these instructions to use the power tool. Power tools are dangerous in the hands of inexperienced users.
  • Maintaining power tools. Check the adjustment and mobility of the moving parts, focusing on cracks, broken parts and any other circumstances that may compromise the function of the power tool. If the tool is damaged, it must be repaired before use. Many accidents are caused by poorly maintained power tools.
  • Cutting tools must be kept sharp and clean. Properly maintained and sharpened cutting tools are less likely to catch on material or jam and are easier to control.
  • Use the power tool, accessories and tool bits etc., in accordance with these instructions and in the manner intended for the particular power tool, taking into account the working conditions and the work to be performed. Using power tools for activities other than those for which they are designed can lead to dangerous situations.

Use and maintenance of cordless tools

  • Only charge using the charger specified by the manufacturer. A charger that may be suitable for one type of battery pack may cause a fire risk when used with another battery pack.
  • Only use the tool with a battery that is specifically designed for it. The use of any other batteries may cause an injury or fire risk.
  • When the battery is not in use, protect it against contact with other metal objects, such as paper clips, coins, keys, nails, screws, or other small metal objects that may cause one battery contact to come in contact with another. Short-circuiting the battery terminals may cause burns or fire.
  • If used incorrectly, liquids may leak from the battery; avoid contact with them. In the case of accidental contact with these fluids, rinse the affected area with water. In addition, seek medical attention if fluid gets into your eyes. Liquids escaping from the battery can cause inflammation or burns.

Service

  • Have your power tool serviced by a qualified person using identical replacement parts. This will ensure the same level of safety of the power tool as before the repair.

SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS FOR HEDGE TRIMMERS:

  • Do not touch the cutting blade with any part of your body. When the blades are moving, do not remove the cut parts of the branches or hold them in your hand when trimming. When removing jammed branch parts, make sure the switch is in the “off” position. A moment’s in- attention while working with a hedge trimmer can result in serious personal injury.
  • Carry the hedge trimmer by holding the handle with the cutting blade stopped. Always attach the cutting tool cover when transporting or storing the hedge trimmer. The correct handling of the hedge trimmer reduces the potential risk of personal injury from the cutting blades.
  • Only hold the power tool by the insulated gripping parts, as the cutting blade can touch hidden electrical wiring. A cutting blade that touches a “live” wire can cause the uninsulated metal parts of the power tool to become “live” and can result in an electric shock.
  • Check the hedge to be trimmed for foreign objects, such as wire fences.
  • Hold the hedge trimmer with both hands.

ADDITIONAL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

  • WARNING– Keep your hands away from the blades. There is a risk of serious injury.
  • Do not use the hedge trimmer in bad weather, especially if there is a risk of lightning. This will reduce the risk of lightning strikes. The motor unit is not waterproof.
  • Operators using the hedge trimmer for the first time must be trained by an experienced person.
  • The hedge trimmer must not be used by children or minors under the age of 18. Minors over the age of 16 may use this tool if they receive training under the supervision of a specialist.
  • Only use the hedge trimmer if you are in good physical condition. If you are tired, then your attention span drops. Be particularly careful at the end of the working day. Work calmly and carefully. The operator is responsible for any harm or damage caused to a third party.
  • Hard leather work gloves are essential protective equipment and must always be used when working with the hedge trimmer. Wear sturdy work boots with non-slip soles. • Before switching on the hedge trimmer, make sure that it is in good and safe operating condition. Make sure that the guards are correctly attached. The hedge trimmer must not be used until it has been assembled correctly.
  • Make sure you have a firm stance before turning on the hedge trimmer.
  • Hold the hedge trimmer firmly while it is running.
  • Do not let the hedge trimmer idle for an excessive period of time.
  • Switch off the hedge trimmer immediately and remove the battery if it comes into contact with a fence or a foreign object. Check the hedge trimmer for damage and have it repaired if necessary.
  • Always switch off the blade and remove the battery before checking the hedge trimmer, troubleshooting or removing material jammed in the blade.
  • Switch off the hedge trimmer and remove the battery before carrying out any maintenance.
  • When carrying the hedge trimmer, including when working, always switch it off, remove the battery and place the protective cover on the blade bar. Never carry the hedge trimmer while it is in operation. Do not carry the hedge trimmer by the blades.
  • Always clean the hedge trimmer, and especially the blades, after use and before storing for a long time. Lubricate the blades and place the protective cover on the blade bar. The hedge trimmer is fitted with a slot for hanging.
  • Store the hedge trimmer with the protective cover in a dry place. Keep out of the reach of children. Never store the hedge trimmer outdoors.
  • Do not point the blades towards yourself or others.
  • If the blades stop because they are blocked by a foreign object during operation, switch off the hedge trimmer and remove the battery. Remove the blocked object with pliers or similar tools. Do not remove a blocked object with your hands as there is a risk of injury because the blades may move after the object is removed.
  • Avoid using in hazardous environments. Do not use the hedge trimmer in a humid or wet environment or expose it to rain. If water enters the motor unit, the risk of electric shock will increase.
  • Do not throw the battery into a fire. It can explode. Follow the instructions for its ecological disposal.
  • Do not open or deform the battery. The electrolyte is corrosive and may damage the eyes or irritate the skin. This is a toxic substance, do not swallow it.
  • Do not charge the battery in rain or humid environments.
  • Follow the instructions, instructions and warnings in the relevant operating instructions when handling the battery.

THE SAFETY AND USER INSTRUCTIONS IN THIS MANUAL MUST ALWAYS BE FOLLOWED EVEN IF YOU ARE FAMILIAR WITH THE DEVICE AND ITS USE. IMPROPER USE OR FAILURE TO FOLLOW THE SAFETY OR USER INSTRUCTIONS IN THIS MANUAL CAN CAUSE SERIOUS PERSONAL INJURY.
