LITHONIA LIGHTING L2XRLED 3 Inch Led Remodel Housing
IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION
For your protection, read carefully before proceeding with the installation. To be installed by a qualified electrician. Heavy-duty gloves should be worn to protect hands from sharp edges. Protective eyewear should be won to prevent injury to the eyes.
- Electric current can cause painful shock, serious injury, or death. For your safety, always remember the following:
- Turn off the power supply.
- Ground the fixture to avoid potential electrical shocks.
- Do not handle an energized fixture.
- Check all electrical connections to be sure they are tight and correct.
- Specific safety information concerning lamps.
- Match wattage of fixture and lamp exactly.
- Do not remove or insert lamp when power is on.
- Do not scratch glass or subject lamp to undue pressure as either may cause lamp breakage.
- Protect operating lamp from direct contact with water.
- Make sure appropriate trim and rough-in are used. Match labels on both fixture and trim.
- Install and wire fixtures per all applicable national and local electrical codes
- This product may be installed in either type IC or Non-IC applications
CAUTION: RISK OF FIRE
Most dwellings built before 1985 have supply wire rated 60c. Consult a
qualified electrician before installation. Mount per all national and local
codes.
INSTALLATION
This unit can be installed in a TYPE IC or TYPE NON-IC installation:
TYPE IC: Where the rough-in section is in direct contact with insulation. Match trims listed on IC portion of the fixture label for IC installations. Remove the peel off label on top of the housing stating not to install insulation within 3 inches (76mm) of any side of the fixture (See Figure 1). L3R and L7XR only.
TYPE NON-IC: Where no insulation is placed over the top or within 3 inches (76mm) of the sides of the rough-in section. Match trims listed on the NON-IC portion of the fixture label for NON-IC installations.
This product is Air Tight and conforms to maximum air leak rate of less than 2.0 CFM as tested per ASTM E-283 method. Product must be sealed to ceiling surface to eliminate all air paths into space above The gap between the drywall edge and the edge of the recessed Tixture must be sealed by the installer using drywall compound (hot provided) or Slicone caulking (not provided) rated tor a minimum of 90 degree C to seal the gap.
MOUNTING INSTRUCTIONS
- Using template (inside housing) to outline circle on celing
- Use keyhole saw to cut out circle on the ceiling.
- NOTE: when deciding on fixture placement and preparing to cut hole, take into account joist placement and electrical wiring requirements. Your ceiling material must be non-combustible and strong enough to support the fixture
- Make sure clips are properly seated in the can.
- Tit ixture up through the hole.
- Hold fixture up against the ceiling and push retaining clips against can (See Figure 2).
WIRING
Make certain all power is disconnected prior to installing the fixture. Open
the snap-on junction box captive door and remove the appropriate pry-out with
screwdriver. Built in Romex clamps are accessible through the Romex pry-outs
(See Figure 3). Bring supply wires into box by shielded cable or Romex cable.
Make all connections inside the junction box. Connect 120V hot wire to the
black wire. Connect the neutral wire to the white wire. Connect the ground
wire to the bare copper wire. This fixture should be wired in accordance with
the NEC and applicable local codes and ordinances.

LAMP INSTALLATION
Prior to installing lamp (not included) in the fixture, check to make sure
that all power is disconnected. Ensure that the lamp source and wattage
corresponds with the fixture label and the trim label. To properly seat the
lamp into the fixture, Screw the lamp securely into the sOcket Back the lamp
out one to two turns, and then screw the lamp back into the socket, making
sure that it is secure. Follow lamp manufacturers instructions regarding lamp
operation and re-amping. Operating a fixture with a lamp that turns on and
off, an extinguished lamp, or no lamp at all may cause damage to the
components and will Void all warranties.
