Lauben SV01 Sous Vide Stick

Prior to the first use, the customer shall get acquainted with the principles of safe product usage.

Important Safeguards

  1. The appliance input is 220V, so make sure it corresponds with the voltage in your network.
  2. Unplug the appliance from outlet when not in use.
  3. Always unplug the sous vide stick from outlet before cleaning.
  4. Always, prior to use, check the power cord. In case the cord is damaged, do not use the appliance. Contact the seller and ask for further instructions.
  5. Do not ever try to disassemble, repair or modify the appliance in any way. Any attempts to disassemble, remodel or repair the appliance will automatically terminate the warranty period; such actions may also damage the appliance or cause injury or property damage.
  6. Place the pot with the attached cooker only on stable surfaces.
  7. Do not ever let the cooker operate longer than necessary.
  8. Keep the appliance out of children´s reach; it is not a toy.
  9. Persons with limited mobility and space orientation can use the appliance only when supervised by a qualified adult.
  10. The appliance is designated for household use only.
  11.  Do not use other than original parts and accessories.
  12. Do not remove any warning labels or safety plates from the appliance.
  13. If any part of the cooker looks damaged, stop using the appliance. Contact your seller and arrange the repair/replacement.
  14. Do not let the power cord hang freely (over the edge of a table or kitchen counter).
  15. Do not touch the power cord with wet hand or when standing in water.
  16. The package contains small parts that can be dangerous for children. Always store the appliance out of children´s reach. The bags or the number of small parts in them could be swallowed or when put overhead the bags can cause suffocation.
  17. Do not immerse the cooker into water deeper than the MAX level indicator on the appliance.
  18. Only the stainless-steel part and the plastic lid can be washed in dishwasher.
  19. In case the cooker falls into water, unplug it immediately and let it dry completely prior to further use.
  20. Do not use extension leads as the power source; always plug the appliance directly into a grounded socket.
  21. The appliance´s cord has a grounding port. Use it only with sockets equipped with a grounding pin.
  22. The cooker has no replaceable parts; do not try to open, dismantle or modify it in any way.
  23. All parts: the cooking pot, the stainless-steel case and the bags with the food get hot in the cooking process. Let them cool prior to handling.
  24. Do not expose the cooker to high temperatures. Do not place it on or in the proximity of heat sources such as cooking stoves. Do not leave it exposed to direct sunlight.
  25. Use only the foil and bags designated for sous vide cooking.
  26. For this type of sous vide cooker, it is necessary to have a pot at least 11 cm deep with the minimum volume of 10 liters.

Introduction

By circulating the water and heating it to the exact temperature the cooker cooks the food in vacuum sealed or Zip Lock bags. The sous vide method represents a slow way of cooking due to which the food will be always cooked evenly and keeps all the nutrients as well as flavors. You cannot overcook your food; with the cooker it will be always moist and juicy.

Settings

Change of the temperature units
Press and hold the control button for three seconds – the units get switched
Temperature and time calibration
The temperature sensor is very precise; it is calibrated in the manufacture. However, if you wish to calibrate it according to your own thermometer, process as follows:

  1. Press and hold the control button for five seconds; the mode of temperature calibration will be activated.
  2. Keep turning the control button clockwise and anticlockwise until you have reached the required temperature.
  3. Once you set the temperature, press the control button again and set up the timer (once 00: starts to blink) by turning the control button clockwise and anticlockwise.
  4. Press the button again and in the same way set up the minutes (:00).
  5. Once the LED light gets red, the cooker is operating.

The flow direction settings

The cooker can circulate the water in both directions (clockwise or anticlockwise). Also, the flow can be directed against the pot wall to avoid direct contact with the food prepared or to ensure that the water will circulate in the whole pot and will not be stopped by the food bags.

  1. Turn the pump cover clockwise; now it can be moved with.
  2. Set the openings at the pump sides as required, insert the blocks into the grooves and by moving the pump cover anticlockwise, click it back to the initial position.

Operation

  1. Make sure the cooker is unplugged.
  2. Attach the round clamp to the pot rim.
  3. Insert the cooker into the clamp.
  4. Fill the pot so that the water is between MIN and MAX indicator.
  5. Place the pot with cooker near a socket and make sure it is not in the proximity of a heat source such as a stove.
  6. Plug the cooker.
  7. To set up the cooker turn the control button until you have reached the required value; press the button. Set up the cooking time in the same way.
  8. Red LED light – the cooker is on
  9. Blue LED light – water has reached the required temperature, cutdown has been started
  10.  Green LED light – time is up, the end of the cooking cycle
  11. Once the food is finished, press the control button and the cooker shuts down.

Cleaning

  1. Turn the cover clockwise to disassemble it from the cooker.
  2. Turn the cover lid clockwise to disassemble it from the cover.
  3. Both the pump cover and the cover lid can be washed under running water or in dishwasher.
  4. To clean the heating unit, propeller and sensor use soap water and soft brush; then rinse them under running water. Make sure you rinse only the metal parts. The upper part of the cooker should not get in contact with water.
  5.  Let the cooker body dry prior to reassembly.
  6. Limescale build-up can interfere with the proper functioning of the device. Therefore we recommend periodically adding a descaling agent to a water bath, especially in areas with hard water (do not use the same water in which food is prepared).

Most Common Issues

When operating, the cooker is whistling.
It is caused by the motor and cooling unit; it is a common phenomenon.

When operating, the cooker is screeching.
The pump cover is not attached properly. Turn the cooker off, let it cool and then attach the pump cover properly. If screeching continues, it can indicate that the propeller is not set straight. Unplug the appliance, remove the pump cover and push the propeller to the central position.

The cooker makes fizzy, bubbly or splashy sounds.
Make sure that the water level is in between MIN and MAX indicators; adjust the water volume if necessary.

The cooker deforms fish fillets or breaks eggs.
Set up the pump cover so that the water flow is directed on the pot wall, away from the vacuumed food bags.

LED lights or the digits flash during cooking.
It is common; it does not influence the cooker performance.
