Safety Information
READ ENTIRE INSTALLATION PROCEDURE BEFORE YOU BEGIN!
CAUTION! | BURN HAZARD: Allow light to cool down prior to touching. |
---|---|
CAUTION | Fixture will reliably operate between the temperatures of -20°F |
to 122°F. (At temperatures above 92°F, the passive infrared (PIR) sensor may
not detect body heat.)
WARNING!| Do not look directly at the LEDs for an extended period of
time. They can cause eye damage.
WARNING!| Use alkaline batteries only. Do not use carbon zinc batteries
and DO NOT mix battery type.
WARNING!| The components of this fixture are not serviceable.
Attempting to alter the fixture for any reason may result in voiding the
warranty and could result in creating a dangerous situation.
ATTENTION| LEDs can be damaged by electrostatic discharge shock. To
remove this hazard, touch a grounded bare metal surface to discharge yourself
before installation.
ATTENTION| Cold weather may affect the performance of the fixture.
Alkaline batteries can lose voltage when temperatures are near freezing. This
will affect the performance of the PIR in your fixture. The security light will
perform as expected when temperatures rise.

Things to Consider Prior to Mounting
SELECT A LOCATION THAT ALLOWS THE SENSOR TO PERFORM AT ITS PEAK
EFFICIENCY.
MINIMUM MOUNTING HEIGHT: 8 FT.
OPTIMAL MOUNTING HEIGHT: 8-10 FT.
Mounting above 10 ft. can decrease the sensor detection range.
DO NOT mount near light sources (street lights, traffc).
PASSIVE INFRARED (PIR) SENSOR ZONE
WALL/SURFACE MOUNT
Adjusting the Light Heads
The individual light heads can be adjusted up/down and left/right to aim the
light heads in the direction desired.
THE FIXTURE USES A PASSIVE INFRARED (PIR) MOTION SENSOR AND AS SUCH DETECTS
CHANGES IN INFRARED RADIATION OF WARM OBJECTS MOVING ACROSS THE DETECTION
ZONES.
The PIR sensor can be triggered by a variety of sources including dryer vents,
hot tubs, idling vehicles, etc.
The PIR sensor CANNOT detect motion through plexiglass, plastic, or glass
barriers.
DO NOT aim the PIR toward areas with pedestrian and motorized traffc and/or
other objects that generate heat.
DO NOT mount near nighttime light sources (street lights, traffc). Light
sources can cause the light to operate in daylight mode.
How to Attach the Light
-
Remove the mounting plate by turning counterclockwise until it comes loose.
-
a Masonry: Locate the open holes for mounting at the mid-line of the mounting plate and drill a pilot hole in the center. If mounting onto brick or masonry, drill a 3/16 in. hole and place the masonry anchors in the pilot holes and hammer them into place until flush with surface. Place washer over the mounting hole and drive long screws into masonry anchor until snug. DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN.
MASONRY 2b Wood: If mounting onto wood surface, drill a 1/16 in. hole and use the wood screws and washers provided to secure the mounting plate.
WOOD
-
Make sure rubber grommets are in place behind the screw heads before screwing in to ensure proper watertight seal.
How to Install/Replace the Batteries
Remove Battery Compartment Cover
-
Remove the screw on the battery compartment cover. Remove the battery compartment cover. Use alkaline batteries only. Do not use carbon zinc batteries and DO NOT mix battery type.
Insert Batteries -
Insert 3 new alkaline C cell batteries (not included) into the battery compartment and orient them with the “+” and “-” markings on the back of the battery compartment. Re-attach the battery compartment cover to close. Secure with screw. When ready to use, turn the switch, located below the battery compartment, to “ON.” There will be an approximate 15-second delay for the fixture to light up, even if there is motion. This will occur every time the fixture is turned “OFF” and back “ON” at the switch or the batteries are changed. Do not mix old and new batteries. Cold weather may have a negative impact on battery life. Re-attach Battery Compartment Cover
-
Attach the security light to the mounting plate by positioning the security light over the mounting plate at an angle.
Engage the security light into the grooves of the mounting base and secure by twisting clockwise until the security light is seated vertically.
Low Battery Indicator Light
The red LED low battery indicator, inside the motion sensor, will light up
when the batteries are low and need replacing.
Repeat all 2-3 steps on this page and replace the batteries.
Make sure fixture is locked tightly onto the mounting plate to create a seal to prevent water from entering from the back.
Motion Sensor
The light turns on when the motion sensor detects movement. Sensor detects
motion up to 40 ft. The 180-degree coverage of the motion sensor is measured
side-to-side. The sensor is more effective side-to-side, rather than motion
coming straight at it (in-and-out). Fixed timer is 15 seconds; the light will
stay on for 15 seconds after motion detection (only during night hours).
Extreme hot or
cold weather could aFFect the performance of the built-in sensors that detect
body heat. Certain winter clothing can shield a person’s body heat from the
sensor during extreme cold weather. During extreme hot weather, the sensor may
not be able to distinguish the difference between normal body temperatures and
the surrounding high temperatures. The sensor works as expected once weather
conditions return to normal.
Troubleshooting Guide
PROBLEM | POSSIBLE CAUSE | CORRECTIVE ACTION |
---|---|---|
1. ON/OFF switch is not set correctly. | 1. Slide switch to “ON” position. | |
2. Batteries are defective or depleted. | 2.Replace the batteries. | |
3.Batteries are installed wrong. | 3. Reinstall the batteries correctly. | |
4. Battery compartment cover is loose. | 4. Check battery compartment cover |
to ensure it is closed and secured with the screw.
5. Movement is taking place outside of
the motion sensor detection area.| 5. Fixture detects motion up to 40 ft.
Make sure it is positioned within that range.
Light continuously cycles ON and OFF (strobe effect).| 1. Light sensor is
triggered by reflected light from the security light itself.| 1. Change the
position of the light heads, aiming light away from the reflecting surfaces.
2. Heat is being reflected from other sources and may be triggering the
sensor on and off.| 2. Remove heat source from detection zone or move fixture
to new location.
Light turns on during daylight hours.| 1. Light may be installed in
shadows/dark area.| 1. Move fixture to a lit area; without shadows.
Light comes on for no apparent reason.| 1. Hot air (dryer vent, car exhaust,
etc.) may be triggering the sensor.| 1. Remove heat source from detection
zone or move fixture to new location.
Light stays on continuously at night.| 1. Motion sensor may be picking up a
continuous flow of warm air from an air vent, dryer vent, or heat reflecting
off a surface.| 1. Remove heat source from detection zone. Move fixture to
new location.
Reposition the motion sensor.
