Welcome to Orbic. Orbic is a brand of products designed to help consumers connect to the things that are important to them. Orbic products offer consumers quality and value combined with up-to-date technology. This guide will show you how to set up and use your phone.

Inserting SIM Card and MicroSD Card

With the phone facing down, insert your fingernail into the cutout located on the bottom of the back cover and gently lift the cover.

Locate the slot for the SIM card and gently slide the SIM card tray down to unlock the tray.
Place the SIM card with the gold contacts facing down. Gently slide the SIM card tray up to lock tray.

MicroSD card is sold separately.
If you have a SD card, remove the back cover (as demonstrated in the previous instructions).
Position the microSD card with the label side facing up and the gold contacts toward the slot (at the upper-right side of the phone), carefully slide the SD tray to the right to unlock it, then place the SD card in place and lock the tray by sliding left.

Charge the Battery

Before turning on the phone, charge it fully. Insert the battery, making sure the gold contacts line up.
Push in and press down gently to secure. Place the back cover over the back of the phone and then press down along the edges to secure. Insert the small end of the USB cable into the phone. Insert the larger end into the charger and plug the charger into an outlet.

WARNING: Use only approved chargers with your phone. Incompatible chargers or tampering with the warranty.

Turning your Phone ON/OFF
Press and hold the power key to turn phone ON.
Press and hold the power key to turn phone OFF.

You can navigate within your phone’s software by pressing the key that corresponds with the action you want to take or using the Navigation key to scroll and the OK key to select a highlighted item.

For example:

  • Press the Left soft key to select the item displayed at the bottom left of the screen.
  • Press the Right soft key to select the item displayed at the bottom right of the screen.
  • Press the keypad key that corresponds to the item you want in a displayed list.
  • Press the top, bottom or sides of the Navigation key to move the cursor, then press the center of the Navigation key (the OK key) to select the item displayed at the bottom center of the screen.

Making a Call
Placing a Call from Home Screen: Press keypad to input number and press the call key to initiate a call.
Place a Call from Contacts: Press Menu key, using Navigation button go to Contacts, select contact and press call key to initiate call.

Receiving a Call
When you receive a call the caller ID information will be show. If the phone is closed, it will automatically answer the call once you flip it open.
If the phone is already flipped open, you can:

Answering Calls: Select Answer or press call key to answer the call.
Rejecting/Ending Calls: Select ignore or press end key to ignore or end call.

Sending a Text

  1. From the Home screen, press the OK key Menu, then using the Navigation key select Message.
    OR
    From the Home screen, press the Right soft key Message.

  2. View conversation threads and send messages.
    Use the Navigation key to highlight a conversation thread, then press the OK key to view it.
    Press the Right soft key Option, Press OK key to Select New message to start a new message, enter the information required (recipient, text, content, etc.), then press the OK key .
    Press the Right soft key Options to select threads, access Message settings, and more.

Taking Photographs

  1. From the Home screen, press the Camera Key .
  2. Hold the phone and point the lens towards the subject of the photo.
  3. Press the OK key to take a photo. Your picture will be automatically saved to the Gallery.

Improving Accessibility

(Add settings after Tools & Settings)
The Accessibility menu provides settings to make your phone easier for you to use based on your personal capabilities and/or limitations.

  1. From the Home screen, press the OK key right and down to Tools & Settings.
  2. Press the 2 key Accessibility.

Connecting to Wi-Fi

  1. From the Home screen, press the OK key , right, down, Tools & Settings Menu.
  2. Press the 2 key Settings.
  3. Press the 1key Wireless & Networks.
  4. Press the 2 key Wi-Fi.
  5. Press the 1key Wi-Fi. Using the navigation key select ON and press OK key to Set.
  6. Use Navigation key to highlight a Wi-Fi network, then press OK key . Connect to it.
    Note: Follow step #5 to turn Wi-Fi ON/OFF.

Hearing Aid Compatibility Information

This phone has been tested and rated for use with hearing aids for some of the wireless technologies that it uses. However, there may be some newer wireless technologies used in this phone that have not been tested yet for use with hearing aids. It is important to try the different features of this phone thoroughly and in different locations, using your hearing aid or cochlear implant, to determine if you hear any interfering noise. Consult your service provider or the manufacturer of this phone for information on hearing aid compatibility. If you have questions about return or exchange policies, consult your service provider or phone retailer.

FAQs

Caller ID Readout, is this available in this phone?

The phone does display the number calling if the caller allows it. It displays on front outside display. Not very large print though. If it is one of the stored numbers the stored name is displayed. I believe ring tones can be set for numbers in memory.

What do I need to do to activate so that I can use my number and prepaid minutes?

Have your pin ready and call the number provided from another phone and it will ask for the numbers on the side of the box.

When you close the phone, the screen stays on for a few seconds. It does not stay on all the time.

Menu, Tools & Settings, Tools, Alarm, New alarm, now on this screen, you can setup the alarm details

Does this phone have t9 word text option and video?

It’s voice and text only

Is this a speaker phone?

Yes, it has a speaker mode.

Does it include a sim card?

Yes it does.

Does this phone have voice commands that can be used by the visually impaired?

This phone didn’t work, so I don’t know

What are the dimensions of the phone itself? ( not the packaging)

Found this Dimensions: 105 x 54.6 x 18mm Sorry for the mm go figure but easy to convert or check on a ruler

Does it have a hot spot function?

Yes, the Orbic Journey V phone has a hotspot function.

Is the battery removable?

I bought one several years ago and the battery consistently failed, as did the batteries on the replacement phones I was sent. Supposedly the newer ones have been updated and may have replacesble batteries. Contact the seller to find out.
