  • DO NOT touch, cover, or obstruct the steam release valve as it is extremely hot and may cause scalding.

  • Use extreme caution when opening the lid manually as hot steam will escape and may cause scalding. Use protective oven mitts or gloves to avoid burns or serious personal injury. ALWAYS use the service spoon to scoop rice.

  • The Cooking Pot is designed for use with this appliance only. It must never be used on a stovetop, range top, hot gas or electric burner or in a heated oven. It may warp and result in injuries. To avoid serious injuries,always cook inside the removable Cooking Pot.

  • ALWAYS make sure the outside of the Cooking Pot is dry prior to use.
    If the pot is returned to the appliance when wet, it may damage or cause the product to malfunction.

  • DO NOT plug or unplug the product into/from the electrical outlet with a wet hand.

  • Use the product in a well-ventilated area. DO NOT operate the appliance directly under kitchen cabinets.

  • DO NOT use attachments not recommended or sold by the product manufacturer. The use of accessory attachments not recommended by the appliance manufacturer may cause injuries.

  • This ELECTRIC RICE COOKER is intended for indoor, non-commercial use.
    DO NOT use outdoors or for anything other than its intended use.
    This appliance is intended for countertop use only.

  • DO NOT let the cord hang over the edge of a table or counter or touch hot surfaces, as you may trip and fall or cause the hot contents of the appliance to spill and possibly cause burns or injuries.

  • DO NOT place the product on or near a hot gas or electric burner, or in heated oven as it may cause this appliance to melt.

  • ALWAYS place the product on a flat, stable surface—it is not recommended to use the appliance on temperature-sensitive surfaces.

  • To connect, plug appliance into a 120 V AC outlet. To disconnect, turn any control to OFF, then remove plug from wall outlet. Connect the power plug to an easily accessible outlet so the appliance can be unplugged immediately in the event of an emergency.

  • DO NOT use the appliance with a programmer or timing device that switches it on automatically. The use of such devices is dangerous and can cause a fire risk.

  • If this appliance begins to malfunction during operation, unplug the cord from the outlet immediately. DO NOT attempt to repair or use a malfunctioning appliance.

  • While in use, provide adequate space above and around the appliance for air circulation. DO NOT operate this appliance while it is near or touching curtains, wall coverings, dish towels, clothing or other flammable materials.

  • Extreme caution must be used when moving an appliance containing hot oil or other hot liquids.

SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS FOR FUTURE REFERENCE

POLARIZED PLUG: This appliance is equipped with a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). As a safety feature to reduce the risk of electrical shock, this plug is intended to fit in a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully in the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. DO NOT attempt to defeat this feature or modify the plug in any way. If the plug fits loosely into the AC outlet or if the AC outlet feels warm,DO NOT use that outlet.
SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS: A short power supply cord is provided to reduce the risk of becoming entangled in or tripping over a longer cord.

AN EXTENSION CORD MAY BE USED IF CARE IS EXERCISED IN THEIR USE:

  • Minimize the risk of overheating by using the shortest UL or ETL-listed cord possible.
  • The marked electrical rating must be at least as great as that of the product.
  • NEVER use a single extension cord to operate more than one appliance.
  • Arrange the longer cord so that it will not drape over a countertop or tabletop where it can be tripped over, snagged, or pulled on unintentionally (especially by children).

PRESET COOKING FUNCTIONS

WHITE RICE

  • In ACTIVE mode, press the WHITE RICE function, the WHITE RICE display light and LED display on panel showing PRESET TIMER of 45 minutes will be flashing giving you a window to select DELAY TIME if needed. Once it beeps, the lights will turn solid, and the 45-minute countdown will begin. After the countdown is complete, it will beep and automatically switch to KEEP WARM.
    Note: The cooking time cannot be adjusted manually. Sensors will add time or decrease time as needed for proper results.

QUICK RICE

  • In ACTIVE mode, press the QUICK RICE function, the QUICK RICE display light and LED display on panel showing PRESET TIMER of 35 minutes will be flashing giving you a window to select DELAY TIME if needed. Once it beeps, the lights will turn solid, and the 35-minute countdown will begin. After the countdown is complete, it will beep and automatically switch to KEEP WARM.
    Note: The cooking time cannot be adjusted manually. Sensors will add time or decrease time as needed for proper results.

WHOLE GRAIN

  • In ACTIVE mode, press the WHOLE GRAIN function, the WHOLE GRAIN display light and LED display on panel showing PRESET TIMER of 60 minutes will be flashing giving you a window to select DELAY TIME if needed. Once it beeps, the lights will turn solid, and the 60-minute countdown will begin. After the countdown is complete, it will beep and automatically switch to KEEP WARM.
    Note: The cooking time cannot be adjusted manually. Sensors will add time or decrease time as needed for proper results.

HOT CEREALS

  • In ACTIVE mode, press the HOT CEREALS button, the HOT CEREALS display light and LED display on panel showing 5 minutes will be flashing giving you a window or ADJUST TIME and/or to select DELAY TIME if needed. Once it beeps, the lights will turn solid, LED will show ON and water will start heating. Once boiling, it will beep and the adjusted timer countdown will begin. After the countdown is complete, it will beep and automatically switch to KEEP WARM.
    Note: The cooking time can be adjusted manually.
    Time ranges from 5 minutes to 5 hours. Between 5 and 90 minutes, time is adjusted in increments of 1 minute; between 90 minutes to 2 hours, time is adjusted in increments of 30 minutes; between 2 and 5 hours, time is adjusted in increments of 1 hour. Holding the HOT CEREALS function will speed up the process of adding time.
    Note: The HOT CEREALS function timer must be set before selecting and setting DELAY TIME function timer.

STEAM COOK

  • In ACTIVE mode, press the STEAM COOK button, the STEAM COOK display light and LED display on panel showing 0 minutes will be flashing giving you a window or ADJUST TIME and/or to select DELAY TIME if needed. Once it beeps, the lights will turn solid, LED will show ON and water will start heating. Once boiling, it will beep and the adjusted timer countdown will begin. After the countdown is complete, it will beep and automatically switch to STANDBY mode.
    Note: The cooking time can be adjusted manually.
    Time ranges from 0 minutes to 60 minutes. Time is adjusted in increments of 1 minute. Holding the STEAM COOK function will speed up the process of adding time.
    Note: The STEAM COOK function timer must be set before selecting and setting DELAY TIME function timer.

HEAT/SIMMER

  • In ACTIVE mode, press the HEAT/SIMMER button, the HEAT/SIMMER display light and LED display on panel showing 5 minutes will be flashing giving you a window or ADJUST TIME and/or to select DELAY TIME if needed. Once it beeps, the lights will turn solid, LED will show ON and water will start heating. Once boiling, it will beep and the adjusted timer countdown will begin. After the countdown is complete, it will beep and automatically switch to KEEP WARM.
    Note: The cooking time can be adjusted manually.
    Time ranges from 5 minutes to 5 hours. WARM/POWER

Power

  • While on STANDBY mode, first, press the WARM/POWER button to put it in ACTIVE mode, then select the desired function. At any time during the cooking process of any functions, pressing the WARM/POWER will bring back into STANDBY mode.
    Note: ACTIVE mode opens a 15 second window for you to select a cooking function, after 15 seconds, it will automatically revert to STANDBY mode.

Warm

  • While in ACTIVE mode, pressing the WARM/POWER button will enter in KEEP WARM mode. KEEP WARM time cannot be adjusted and after the beep it will display in hours, the time that it has been keeping warm for up to 12 hours. After 12 hours, it will revert to STANDBY mode.

DELAY TIME

  • In ACTIVE mode, select the desired COOKING FUNCTION first, following by DELAY TIME button to enter the DELAY TIME function. In the DELAY TIME function, the display light of selected function DELAY TIME and LED displays on panel shows 0 MINUTES will be flashing. While flashing, the DELAY TIME timer can be adjusted in increments of 1 hour ranging from 1 to 15 hours.
    Note: For functions that have adjustable timers, the function timer must be set before selecting DELAY TIME function.

  • Keep pressing the DELAY TIME button to add time. Holding the DELAY TIME button will speed up the process of adding time. The function DELAY TIME and TIME indicator lights will flash. Once it beeps, the previously mentioned lights with turn solid and the set DELAY TIMER will begin countdown. Once DELAY TIMER countdown is completed the selected function timer countdown will begin. Once the function timer is up, it will beep and go into keep warm mode.

BEFORE INITIAL USE

READ THE INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE FIRST USE

  1. Remove and discard any packaging, sticker, or promotional labels/materials before first use.

  2. Open the lid using the lid handle.

  3. Remove the Cooking Pot, the Steamer Basket, the Removable Lid Liner and wash in hot soapy water with all other accessories. Dry thoroughly.
    WARNING: DO NOT immerse body, electrical cord or plug in water or any other liquid.

  4. Wipe the lid with a damp cloth and dry thoroughly.

  5. Wipe body with a damp cloth and dry thoroughly.

  6. Reassemble the appliance.
    Note: ALWAYS ensure the Removable Lid Liner is properly reinstalled under the lid.

NOTE: During first use of the appliance, smoke or light vapors may occur from the appliance because of the initial warming process of the materials. This is normal and will quickly disappear.

HOW TO USE

READ THE INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE USE

NOTE:

  • ALWAYS use plastic, rubber, wooden, or silicone cooking utensils inside the Cooking Pot to avoid scratching the cookware.
  • DO NOT operate the appliance directly under kitchen cabinets. Provide adequate space above and around the appliance for air circulation.
  • Before each operating, ensure the steam release valve is properly installed. Ensure the lid is tightly closed before operating.

WHITE RICE, QUICK RICE, WHOLE GRAIN & HOT CEREALS

NOTE: ALWAYS rinse rice before cooking.

  1. Place appliance on a flat, stable, heat resistant surface.

  2. Open the lid.

  3. Remove the Cooking Pot.

  4. Add desired quantity and type of rice/grain/cereal.

  5. Rinse rice 2–3 times.

  6. Add amount of water required for respective quantity of rice/grain/cereal.
    (Refer to Cooking Guides below)

  7. Place Cooking Pot into the Rice Cooker.

  8. Close the lid.

  9. Plug the power cord into a 120 V AC wall outlet. The appliance will beep and enter STANDBY mode.

  10. Press the POWER/WARM button to enter ACTIVE mode.

  11. In ACTIVE mode, select desired function. Function starts when the flashing lights become solid. Refer to FUNCTION CHART section for detailed use of the functions.
    (For Hot Cereals, timer must be set manually).

  12. Once function is completed, appliance will beep and enter KEEP WARM mode (up to 12 hours).

STEAM COOK

WARNING: When steaming proteins, make sure the internal temperature meets the food-safe temperature requirements (e.g., poultry requires internal temperature to reach 165 °F).

  1. Place appliance on a flat, stable, heat resistant surface.

  2. Open the lid.

  3. Remove the Cooking Pot.

  4. Fill the Cooking Pot with enough water for desired steaming duration.
    Note: While using the STEAM COOK function, if the rice cooker boils dry, it will beep to notify you (see Boil-Dry Protection). You have the option to add water within 3 minutes following the Boil-Dry signal to resume the countdown of the paused timer.

  5. Place Steamer Basket into the Cooking Pot.

  6. Close the lid.

  7. Press the POWER/WARM button to enter ACTIVE mode.

  8. Select STEAM function and set desired time. Display will show ON indicating the water is heating.

  9. Once display changes from ON to the selected timer countdown. You may add the proteins/vegetables into the Steamer Basket.

  10. For proteins, make sure they reach the necessary temperature before serving. Once countdown of set timer reaches 0, it will beep once and switch into STANDBY mode. You may remove proteins/vegetables and serve when cooking is complete at necessary temperature and the desired doneness is achieved. Add time or stop steaming function accordingly.

NOTE: The required steam duration depends on the quantity of added ingredients and the size that they are cut into. (The smaller the cuts the faster it will cook)

STEAM COOK WHILE COOKING RICE (WHITE RICE)

WARNING: When cooking rice and steaming it is important to not exceed 2 cups of rice in order to give enough room for the rice to expand.

  1. Place appliance on a flat, stable, heat resistant surface.
  2. Open the lid.
  3. Remove the Cooking Pot.
  4. Put desired cups of rice into Cooking Pot (without exceeding 2 cups).
  5. Rinse rice 2 to 3 times.
  6. Fill water level until it reaches the required cup marking.
  7. Place Cooking Pot into the rice cooker.
  8. Place Steamer Basket into the Cooking Pot.
  9. Place ingredients for steaming onto the steaming basket.
  10. Close the lid.
  11. Press the POWER/WARM button to enter ACTIVE mode.
  12. Select White rice function

HEAT SIMMER
You may use HEAT/SIMMER function to make a variety of soups or desserts. (e.g., chicken noodle soup or black sticky rice dessert)

  1. Place appliance on a flat, stable, heat resistant surface.

  2. Open the lid

  3. Remove the Cooking Pot.

  4. Fill Cooking Pot with proper quantity of liquid required for soup/dessert recipes.
    Note : While using the HEAT/SIMMER function, if the rice cooker boils dry, it will beep to notify you (see Boil-Dry Protection). You have the option to add water within 3 minutes following the Boil-Dry signal to resume the countdown of the paused timer.

  5. Close the lid

  6. Press the POWER/WARM button to enter ACTIVE mode.

  7. Select HEAT/SIMMER function and set desired time. Display will show ON indicating the water is heating.

  8. Once display changes from ON to the selected timer countdown. You may add the solid ingredients from the recipe if there are any.

  9. Once countdown of set timer reaches 0, it will beep once and switch into KEEP WARM mode. You may serve when cooking is complete or when the desired consistency of ingredients is achieved. Add time or stop HEAT/SIMMER function accordingly.

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

Cleaning

WARNING: Ensure the appliance is unplugged from the electrical outlet and allow it to cool down completely before handling or cleaning it.

WARNING: NEVER put cold water into a hot Cooking Pot. Sudden changes of temperature may cause metal to warp, resulting in an uneven bottom.

  1. Unplug appliance from outlet.

  2. Remove Cooking Pot, Removable Lid Liner and Condensation Collector.

  3. Wash in hot soapy water together with the Serving Spoon, Steamer Basket and Rice Measuring Cup. Rinse and dry thoroughly. Wash after each use.
    WARNING: DO NOT immerse body, electrical cord or plug in water or any other liquid.
    Note: Not recommended to use dishwasher as the harsh conditions may cause accelerated wear.
    Note: DO NOT use abrasive pads to clean the Cooking Pot as it may damage the non-stick coating.

  4. Wipe Rice Cooker body with a damp cloth

  5. Stack all parts back into the Rice Cooker for optimal space saving.

Maintenance

  • Store the product in a cool, dry place.
  • NEVER cut anything in the cookware or use utensils with sharp edges as to avoid piercing the non-stick surface.
  • NEVER put cold water into a hot cooking pot. Sudden changes of temperature may cause metal to warp, resulting in an uneven bottom. Let cookware cool down on its own or place in lukewarm soapy water.
  • ALWAYS use trivets or oven mitts when handling the pot.
  • DO NOT place the Cooking Pot on the countertop, as it will stain or burn the countertop. Use a protective trivet.
  • DO NOT place the pot on any range top burner, under a broiler, microwave browning element, or in a heated oven.
  • DO NOT use metal utensils with this appliance. Use the provided rice measure (or recommended utensils) to prevent chipping of the Cooking Pot.
  • DO NOT use scouring pads, abrasive cleaners, or any object that will scratch the cookware or accessories.
  • Any other servicing should be performed by an authorized service representative.

TROUBLESHOOTING

Boil-Dry Protection
The ELECTRIC RICE COOKER is equipped with safety features that will advise you and shut the unit down if an abnormal condition is encountered during STEAM COOK and HEAT/SIMMER functions. An error signal will be displayed on the control panel. Depending on the error, audible beeping may be heard. Once the problem has been identified unplug the unit and contact the customer service if no solution can help in the following table.

RECIPES

LAP MEI FAN – WAXED MEAT RICE

INGREDIENTS:

  •  Waxed sausage
  • Waxed duck
  • Waxed pork belly
  • Shanghai Bok Choy
  • White Rice

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Rinse 2 cups of White Rice
  2. Add water to required water level for 2 cups
  3. Place whole Waxed Sausages on top of rice
  4. Place whole Pork belly on top of rice
  5. Place Chopped (Slices) Duck Thigh on top of rice
  6. Place Shanghai Bok Choy on top of rice
  7. Start the Rice Cooker on Quick Rice (35 Minutes)
  8. When finished cooking, cut sausages and pork belly on chopping board and then place back onto the rice or serve on the side

CHICKEN NOODLE SOUP

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 L chicken broth
  • 2 chicken breasts
  • Pasta of your liking (keep in mind pasta will expand)
  • 2 carrots
  • 2 ribs of celery
  • Salt & Pepper to taste

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Add 1 L of chicken broth
  2. Select HEAT/SIMMER function and set to 20 minutes
  3. While it heats (Displaying ON), dice the carrots, celery and chicken breast into similar size cubes
    • When heating is complete, display will show the selected timer duration
  4. You may add ingredients into the chicken broth together with the chosen pasta
  5. Let it cook until the 20-minute timer counts down to 0
  6. Ready to serve

This warranty covers any defects in materials and workmanship for a period of one (1) year from the date of the original purchase. Please retain your original receipt as a proof of the purchase date. Any complaints must be registered within the warranty period. The product will be repaired, replaced (parts or entire appliance) or refunded at our sole discretion.
Shipping charges may apply.

This warranty does not cover normal wear of parts or damage resulting from any of the following:
Negligent use or misuse of the product including failure to clean the product regularly, use for commercial purposes, accident, use on improper voltage or current, use contrary to the operating instructions, disassembly, repair or altercation by anyone other than a STARFRIT authorized service agent.
Stains, discoloration and minor scratches on the inside and outside of the utensil constitute normal use, do not affect performance, and are not covered by this warranty.

Decisions as to the cause of damage are the responsibility of STARFRIT. All decisions will be final.
