Measuring range 0.3g-3100g.
Unit and division g: 0.3g-1999.9g, the division value is 0.1g; 2000-3100g,

division value 1g; Oz: division value is 0.01oz.

Precautions in use

  • It is forbidden to use a fast charging power supply. It is recommended to use 5V, 1a-2a adapter for charging.
  • Please place AKU on a level and stable surface.
  • Do not use during charging.
  • Once the battery is fully charged ensure to disconnect it from the power supply to avoid over-charging and also in order to prolong the battery life.
  • The surface of the scale panel is waterproof to prevent liquid from entering the gap of the body and the charging port.
  • Do not submerge the scale in water.
  • The internal structure of the equipment is precise, and it is prohibited to disassemble without permission.
  • Do not place objects weighing more than the maximum weighing value of the product to avoid permanent damage.
  • Clean the weighing platform after weighing. Do not place the objects on the weighing tray for a extended period of time.
  • Please store the product in a dry, stable and non corrosive environment.

Functions

Button Function Operation Description
ON/OFF/ TIME **** Power On Press once to turn power on.
Power off Press twice to turn power off.
Start / pause / clear the timer In the time/weighing mode, short press to

start and pause the timer, and long press for 2 seconds to clear the timer;
Maximum timing range: 99 minutes 59 seconds.
Confirm| In the settings mode, press key briefly to confirm the selection.
Button| Function| Operation Description
---|---|---
TARE| Return the weight to zero| When weighing, press once to return the weight to zero.
Unit switching| Press twice to switch between “g” and “oz” units of measurement.
Mode switching| Press and hold key for 2 seconds to switch the brewing mode one by one;
A.Full manual mode;
B.Automatic tare ( 0 ) + manual timing mode;
C.Automatic tare ( O ) , no timer is displayed; or
D.Automatic tare ( O A) + automatic timing mode.
Setting mode| In the weighing zeroing state, press it for more than 6 times to enter the set setting mode, and set the user calibration and automatic shutdown time.

Function Descriptions and Instructions:

Powering on the scale: To power on/off the scale, use the toggle switch located on the rear on the grinder body next to the USB-C charging port.
A. Full manual mode:
In this mode, you can manually operate the timer, manual weighing, tare and other operations.varia AKU Electronic Scale - fig 2 B. Automatic tare ( ) + manual timing mode:
In this mode, the water drop symbol is on, the automatic peeling function is on, and the timer can be started manually. After the automatic peeling of the placed container, the water flow is detected and the weighing is started. After the water flow stops, the final weight is displayed.varia AKU

In this mode, the timer is not displayed, only the weight is displayed, and the water drop symbol is on, which means that the automatic taring function is active.
After the container is placed and the weight is stabilized, it will be automatically zeroed. Weighing can be started only when continuous water flow is detected. When the water  flow stops, the current weight can be displayed. D. Automatic tare ( ∆ ),+ automatic timing mode:
In this mode, the water drop symbol and triangle symbol are both visible. This signals that the automatic taring and automatic timing function is activated. After the weight/vessel is placed and is stable, the weight will be automatically zeroed. When the water flow is detected, the timer will automatically start timing. When the water flow stops, the timer will also stop timing.

Setting mode:

In this mode, users can set 100g calibration (c-2er0) and automatic shutdown time (sleep)varia AKU Electronic Scale - fig 6

To enter the settings for your AKU scale make sure that your scale is placed onto a level and stable surface and is in Mode A; must be set to grams and the scale must be zeroed.
A. 100g calibration:
To calibrate your AKU scale make sure that your scale is placed onto a level and stable surface and press the tare button to zero the scale.

  1. Press the tare key 6 times in a row and you will see the following displayed on the screen.varia AKU Electronic Scale - fig 7
  2. Next, press the power button once and “cel” + “1000.0g” will be displayed on the screen. Press the tare button to cycle through the maximum capacity settings of 1000g, 2000g and 3000g. varia AKU Electronic Scale - fig 8
  3. Once you have selected the maximum capacity you wish to use, press the power button once and “c-2ero” will flash after the calibration mode has been enabled and then the display will show “PUT 100g”.varia AKU Electronic Scale - fig 9
  4. Place the 100g calibration weight in the centre of the scale.
  5. When “PASS” is displayed on the screen, the calibration procedure has been successful.

B. Sleep timer setting:

  1. Press the tare key 6 times in a row and you will see the following displayed on the screen.varia AKU Electronic Scale - fig 11
  2. At this time, press the tare key to cycle the sleep timer options between 5,10,20,30,60 or OFF. varia AKU Electronic Scale - fig 12
  3. To save this setting press and hold the power button until the following is displayed on the screen.varia AKU Electronic Scale - fig 13

Charging

  • To charge the AKU Scale, plug the USB-C cable into the port located on the back of the scale body and next to the on/off switch.
  • When charging, the weighing function cannot be used.

Battery level display:
When the battery symbol is fully displayed (three sections) varia AKU

15the battery charge is 50% – 80%.
When the battery symbol displays one section,

battery is empty and must be charged.
Charging when the three battery symbols flash in sequence from right to left.varia AKU Electronic Scale - fig 18When the battery is fully charged, all battery symbols flash at the same time.

Warranty:

For 12 months after the original date of consumer purchase, Varia Brewing Limited warrants this product against any defects caused by defective material or workmanship. Only the original user is covered by this warranty when a AKU Electronic Scale is purchased from an authorized reseller, and when is fitted with the factory standard parts. To make a warranty claim, you will need the original sales receipt as proof of purchase. This warranty does not cover damage to the product caused by the following:

  • An accident, misuse, neglect or ‘Act of God’.
  • Using the incorrect form of current or voltage for charging.
  • Using a non specified adapter or non complying USB-C plug.
  • Improper maintenance or unauthorised repairs.
  • Failure to adhere to all of the precautions in use outlined in this document’s operating instructions.
