INSTRUCTION GUIDE
Battery Door Chime RC3196
Congratulations on a wise purchase
ENCLOSED YOU WILL FIND
- Door Chime Receiver
- Door Chime Button
- Two 3-Volt lithium batteries (installed)
- Double-sided tape
- Screws
- Wall anchors
TOOLS NEEDED
- Large Phillips head screwdriver
- Ball-point pen
BATTERIES NEEDED (not included)
- Four C-cell alkaline batteries
DOOR CHIME RECEIVER
- Open chime case by removing the bottom screw and remove the front cover.
- While holding the front cover, disconnect the connector for the battery wires. Set the cover down.
- Install (or replace) the four new “C” batteries in the battery holders. Make sure to match the polarity of each battery (+ and -) with the markings on each battery holder position.
- Reconnect the battery wire connector. Re-install the front cover. Install the front cover screw.
TEST
Press Door Chime Button. Receiver should play tone.
MOUNTING DOOR CHIME BUTTON
Note: Mounting Door Chime Button on aluminum siding or metal door frame
may reduce range.
If you want to cover the wire hole from your existing button, save mounting of the new Chime Button until after removing the existing button
- Remove cover from back of Button by inserting ball-point pen into round hole at bottom of transmitter and gently pushing in on tab. Lift Chime Button cover away from the back plate.
- For tape mounting: A) Make sure surfaces are free of dust, oil, and other substances that could affect adhesion. B) Attach double-sided tape to Chime Button back cover. C) Making sure that the end with the hook-shaped latch is facing down, press cover firmly to mounting surface.
- For screw mounting: A) Place Chime Button back cover where desired and mark screw locations. B) Place Chime Button back cover against mounting surface and screw into marked locations using screws enclosed (may require drilling pilot holes on hardwoods).
MOUNTING DOOR CHIME RECEIVER
Receiver can mount on corner of wall. Before mounting Receiver, test desired
location for operation.
For wall mounting
- Mark screw location(s) onto wall for position.
- Drill hole(s) into wall for plastic anchor(s). Place anchor(s) into hole(s) and install screw(s).
- Leave screw head(s) extending about 1/8″ to 1/4″ from wall.
- Hang receiver onto screw(s).
TO REPLACE BUTTON BATTERIES
- Remove Chime Button from back cover by inserting ball-point pen into round hole at the bottom of the Button and gently pushing in on tab. Lift Chime Button cover away from the back plate.
- Remove old batteries by placing a small screwdriver or ball-point pen in the slot directly beneath the batteries. Lift the top battery out of the battery compartment. Repeat with second battery. (Do not hit Chime Button to remove batteries – this could damage the Button.) Dispose of used batteries promptly. Keep away from children. Do not disassemble and do not dispose of in fire.
- Replace old batteries with new batteries, positive (+) side up.
CAUTION – The batteries used in this device may present a risk of fire or chemical burn if mistreated. Do not recharge, disassemble, heat above 100ºC (212ºF), or incinerate. Replace with UL approved Type CR2032 3 volt lithium batteries from Carlon (RC3395D), Radio Shack, Toshiba, Sharp, NewSun, or Sony only. Use of another battery may present a risk of fire or explosion.
TROUBLESHOOTING TIPS
PROBLEM: Receiver does not sound when button is pressed.
SUGGESTION: Verify that Button batteries are installed correctly. Try
replacing batteries first. Make sure Door Chime Receiver has fresh batteries.
Check that Receiver and Button are placed within operating range.
PROBLEM: Receiver sometimes plays without anyone pressing Door Chime
Button.
SUGGESTION: If another Wireless Door Chime System nearby is on the same
frequency, it could accidentally trigger your system.
PRIVACY CODES and HOW TO CHANGE THEM
It is NOT necessary to change the privacy code unless interference occurs. If you need to change code
- Use a nail clipper or wire cutter to cut and separate one of the wires (“A” through “E”) on Chime Receiver. Make sure cut wire does not touch any other wire.
- Remove back cover off Chime Button and locate the wires, which are in the rectangular compartment adjacent to the batteries. The wires are designated “A” through “E” with letters located immediately above them.
- Using a nail clipper or wire cutter, cut and separate the same wire that was cut on the Chime Receiver. Make sure that the cut wire does not touch any other wire.
Note: It doesn’t matter which wires are cut, but be sure that the same wire cut on the Button matches that of the Receiver. If the wire cut on the Chime Button does not match the wire cut on the Chime Receiver, the system will not work
Suggestion: Begin by cutting just one wire in the Chime Receiver and the same wire in the Chime Button. Test to see if the problem is eliminated. If the system is still not working properly, try cutting another wire. DON’T FORGET THAT EVERY TIME A WIRE IS CUT IN THE CHIME RECEIVER, THE CORRESPONDING WIRE MUST BE CUT IN THE CHIME BUTTON.

Repair service, adjustment and calibration due to misuse, abuse or negligence are not covered by this warranty.
