Congratulations on a wise purchase!
ENCLOSED YOU WILL FIND:
- Chime Receiver
- Chime Button
- Two 3-Volt lithium batteries (installed)
- Double-sided tape
- Screws
- Wall anchors
TOOLS/SUPPLIES NEEDED:
- Medium flat head screwdriver
- Small Phillips head screwdriver
- Ballpoint pen
- 7/32″ drill bit
- Drill, if mounting with screws
BATTERIES NEEDED (NOT INCLUDED):
- 4 alkaline “D” batteries
MOUNTING BACK COVER OF CHIME BUTTON
Note: Mounting Chime Button on aluminum siding or metal door frame may
reduce range. If the button must be mounted on metal, try placing a 1/2’’
piece of wood between the button and the metal.
If you want to cover the wire hole from your existing button, save mounting of
the new Chime Button until after removing the existing button.
- Remove cover from the back of Button by inserting a flat head screwdriver in notch at bottom of transmitter and turn. Lift the Chime Button cover away from the back plate.
For tape mounting
- Make sure surfaces are free of dust, oil, and other substances that could affect adhesion.
- Attach double-sided tape to Chime Button back cover.
- Making sure that the end with the hook-shaped latch is facing down, press the cover firmly to the mounting surface.
For screw mounting
- Place Chime Button where desired and mark screw locations.
- Place Chime Button back cover against mounting surface and screw into marked locations using screws enclosed (may require drilling pilot holes on hardwoods).
- Reattach the Chime Button to the installed back cover.
RECEIVER BATTERY INSTALLATION
- Remove the two-side battery covers by inserting a flat head screwdriver blade into the small rectangular opening on either side of the Chime. Then, rotate the blade which will release the cover and expose the battery compartment area.
- Insert two “D” alkaline batteries into each compartment according to the (+/-) placement guides shown. A total of four batteries are required.
- With batteries in place, reinstall the battery compartment covers. To do this, simply insert the three tabs of the battery cover into the front face of the Chime, then press down and in to snap the bottom in place. Repeat for the other side.
MOUNTING BATTERY-POWERED CHIME RECEIVER
Before mounting the Receiver test desired location for the operation.
- Mark screw locations onto the wall for the position.
- Drill 7/32″ holes into the wall for plastic anchors. Place anchors into holes and install silver screws.
- Leave screw heads extending about 1/8″ from the wall.
- Slide Receiver base onto screws and lock into slots.
TEST
- Press Chime Button(s). The receiver should play a tone and LED lights will flash while the tone or melody is playing.
Note: If you want the LED lights to flash longer, select a longer melody.
CHANGING TONE/MELODY SELECTION
- To change to a different tone or melody, press once on the small raised Button located on the bottom front of the Button. The receiver will play the next selection. To continue changing melody or selection, press down once again and wait for the Receiver to confirm the change.
Note: If you change melody or tone too rapidly, the Receiver will not play each selection. Only the last melody or tone selected will play. Selecting while the Receiver is playing will switch the system to a new setting, but the Receiver will only finish playing tone or melody already in progress.
FRONT/BACK DOOR CHIME OPERATION
- With two Chime Buttons, scroll and set a different tone or melody for each door. By remembering which tone/melody is played, you can tell which button is pressed. Chime Buttons may also be used as hand-held pagers.
VOLUME CONTROL
- Adjust loudness by moving the volume control lever on the back of the Chime Receiver to the desired position.
TO REPLACE BUTTON BATTERIES
- Remove Chime Button from back cover by inserting a flathead screwdriver in notch at bottom of Button and turn. Lift the Chime Button cover away from the back plate.
- Remove old batteries by placing a ballpoint pen in the slot directly beneath the batteries. Lift the top battery out of the battery compartment. Repeat with a second battery. (Do not hit Chime Button to remove batteries – this could damage the Button.)
- Replace old batteries with new batteries, positive (+) side up.
BATTERY CAUTION
- Do not recharge, disassemble, heat above 100ºC (212ºF), or incinerate. Replace only with UL-approved Type CR2032 3 volt lithium batteries, such as Carlon RC3395.
- Use of another battery may cause the failure of the transmitter and will void manufacturer’s warranty and liability.
TROUBLESHOOTING TIPS
PROBLEM: The receiver does not sound when Chime Button is pressed.
SUGGESTION: Verify that batteries are installed correctly and battery
contacts are in the correct position. Try replacing batteries first. Check
that Receiver and Button are placed within operating range.
