Thank you for purchasing the kitchen scale LX20. Please read this manual carefully before using your new scale to familiarize yourself with all its features.
In the following pages, you’ll learn to properly care for and safely operate your scale, helping it to perform at peak efficiency for years to come.

Safety

This chapter provides you with important safety notices when handling the device. The device corresponds with the required safety regulations. Improper use can result in
personal or property damages.
2.1 Intended use
This device is only intended for non-commercial use indoors, in sheltered and enclosed spaces for weighing food. Uses for a different purpose or for a purpose which xceeds
this description are considered incompatible with the intended or designated use.

Failure to operate this unit only as intended can be dangerous
► Use the device exclusively for its intended use.
► Follow all of the instructions in the instruction manual
Claims of all kinds due to damages resulting from unintended uses are excluded.
The User bears the sole risk.
2.2 General Safety information
Please note
Please observe the following general safety rules to prevent possible injury
► Examine the device for any damages prior to using it. Do not use the unit if it appears damaged
► This appliance can be used by children aged 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved.
► Children shall not play with the appliance.
► Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children without supervision.
► Only customer service departments authorized by the manufacturer may carry out repairs on the device during the guarantee period, as otherwise the guarantee entitlements will be null and void in the event of any subsequent damages.
► Defective components must always be replaced with original replacement parts. Only such parts will guarantee that the safety requirements are fulfilled.

3.1 Packaging Safety information

Packaging materials are not toys and should be disposed of properly!

3.2 What’s included

► Examine the shipment to ensure the unit and manual are included and inspect the unit for any visible damage
► Immediately notify the carrier and/or supplier about any incomplete shipment or damages as a result of inadequate packaging or mishandling
3.3 Unpacking
Carefully remove the packaging material and unit from the carton.
3.4 Disposal of the packaging
** Caso believes in the importance of recycling and has selected packaging materials that not only protect your unit from damage during transit, but can be recycled to minimize ecological impact. Recycling the packaging materials preserves raw materials and reduces waste. Take any packaging materials that are no longer required to a recycling collection point for proper disposal.
Please note
► If possible, keep the original packaging for the device for the duration of the guarantee period in the event a return in necessary
3.5 Setup
3.5.1 Setup location requirements:**
In order to ensure the safe and trouble-free operation of the device, the setup location must fulfil the following prerequisites:

  • The device must be set up on a firm, flat and horizontal surface with sufficient loadbearing capacity for the scale and the maximum weight of the food that should be weighed.
  • Choose the setup location where children cannot reach the scale
  • Do not set up the device in a hot, wet or extremely damp environment or near flammable material.

3.6 Rating plate
The rating plate with the performance data can be founded on the back of the device

Operation and Handling

This chapter provides you with important notices with regard to operating the device.
Observe the following notices to avoid dangers and damages:
4.1 Batteries
Open the battery cover and put in 2 batteries (1,5V/ AAA – not included in delivery scope).
4.2 Replacing the batteries
The symbol appears if the battery needs replacing.When the battery is low, the LED screen will show “LO” and scale will switch off. Open the battery cover and replace the existing batteries with new batteries. Pay attention to correct polarity. During extended period of non-use always remove the batteries from battery compartment.
4.3 Operation
4.3.1 Weighing
Place the scale on a hard & flat surface. Press on the scale to activate it, the display will show “0”. Place the food on the scale surface and the weight of the food will appear on the display.
4.3.2 Tare Function
Place an empty container on the scale. The LED display will now show the weight of the container.
Press the button on the right side of the scale and the LED shows zero “0” and clears the weight of container.
Next put the food into the container on the scale. The weight of the food only will appear on the display. Remove the food and the container and the scale will show the negative weight. Press the button again and the LED shows zero again after round about 2 seconds.
4.3.3 Hold-Function
Switch the switch for hold-function on the back of the device to position II. The hold-function is activated. For example: Place 500 g object on the scale. When you remove the object the 500 g is still displayed. If you want to weigh a new object, you must first press . The function can be deactivated via the switch on the back of the scale by setting the switch to I. Place the item to be weighed on the weighing surface and the corresponding weight will be displayed.
4.3.4 Change of measurement units
Press to change between g/kg/oz/lb/ml/fl.oz.
4.3.5 Switching off
The scale turns off when you press for at least 5 seconds.
Without any operation the scale will automatically turn off after a little over a minute.
4.3.6 Over Load Indicator
When the scale is overloaded the display will show the error code “EEEE“

Cleaning and Maintenance

This chapter provides important information on properly cleaning and maintaining your scale.

5.1 Safety information
Attention
Please observe the following safety notices, before cleaning the scale :
► Clean the unit after every use. Failure to clean the unit regularly can lead to potential malfunctions, as well as safety and health risks.
► Never immerse the scale into water or other liquid
► Do not put it in the dishwasher.
► If moisture penetrates the unit’s housing, it can damage the electronic components. Please ensure that no moisture enters the device.
► Do not use any hard or abrasive cleaning agents
► Do not attempt to scrape off stubborn grime with hard or abrasive tools
5.2 Cleaning
◆ Housing and display
Wipe the housing and the display with a damp cloth or sponge and mild dish soap.
5.3 Disposal of the Old Device
To protect the environment, it’s important to dispose of old electronic devices properly. Do not place your old unit in the non-recyclable waste under any circumstances

► Please take your old unit to the nearest recycling center for safe disposal
► Until it can disposed of properly, store your old unit away from children

Warranty (Europe)

We provide a 24 month guarantee for this product, commencing from the date of sale, for faults which are attributable to production or material faults. Your legal guarantee
entitlements in accordance with § 439 ff. BGB-E remain unaffected by this. The guarantee does not include damages, which were incurred as a result of improper handling or use, as well as malfunctions which only have a minor effect on the function or the value of the device. Consumables, transit damages, inasmuch as we are not responsible for these, as well as damages, which were incurred as a result of any repairs that were not performed by us, are also excluded from the guarantee entitlements.
This device is designed for use in domestic situations and has the appropriate performance levels. Any use in commercial situations is only covered under the guarantee to the extent that it would be comparable with the stresses of being used in a domestic situation. It is not intended for any additional, commercial use. In the event of justified complaints, we will repair the faulty device at our discretion or replace it with a trouble-free device. Any pending faults must be reported within 14 days of delivery. All further claims are excluded. To enforce a guarantee claim, please contact us prior to returning the device (always provide us with proof of purchase).
