INSTRUCTION GUIDE
CABLE WIRING FROM JOYSTICK,
THROUGH ARMREST, TO BACKREST
ALLTRACK Series Power Wheelchair
Joystick Cable Wiring (cont’d)
The instructions contained in this guide will specify how to handle, wire, and
secure cables from the joystick to the backrest.
WARNING: Regardless of where a cable is attached, it is very important
not to let any cable stick out from the wheelchair or form a loop that could
catch on external objects when moving around in the chair. This could cause
severe damage in the wheelchair’s components or power supply.
Note : The white or yellow tie-wraps shown in the images in the following
pages are for illustrative purposes only, as these ties are normally black.
Before making any adjustments, it is important to note where and how the
cables are attached, so that they are placed in the same location and attached
in the same way.
Introduction :
The instructions contained in this guide will specify how to handle, wire, and
secure cables from the joystick to the backrest.
Tie-wraps:
- B00051 = 5.5” (140 mm)
- B00052 = 7.5” (190 mm)
- B00053 = 11” (280 mm)
How to attach excess cable for a non-reclining backrest with electronics
Cables inside the electronic box
a) The following instructions apply to an ISM Module (Image A) or an e-bx
(Image B).
b) Using cutters, cut and remove B00051, B00052, and B00053 ties as shown in
images A and B.
c) Adjust length of cable according to changes done.
d) Coil cables as tightly as possible on the backrest plate and attach
together using B00051 and/or B00052 ties.
e) Make sure cables are placed and attached at the same location as shown
below.
Cables inside the module cover
a) The following instructions apply to both the base frame support (Image C)
and the tilt module (Image D).
b) Using cutters, cut and remove B00051 and B00052 ties as shown in images C
and D.
c) Adjust length of cable according to changes done.
d) Cables should be kept as compact as possible.
e) Attach cables together with B00051 and B00052 ties at the same location as
shown below.
How to attach excess cable for a power reclining backrest
a) Using cutters, cut and remove B00051 and B00052 ties as shown in image E.
b) Adjust length of cable according to changes done.
c) Coil cables as tightly as possible on the backrest plate and attach
together using B00051/B00052 ties.
d) Attach cables together with B00051/B00052 ties at the same location as
shown below.
e) Cables should be kept as compact as possible.
Adjusting a fixed or swing away joystick
Changing the angle of a joystick mount from the factory-standard of 0° to 35°
a) Using cutters, cut and remove B00051 ties (A) as shown in image F.
b) To change the angle from 0° to 35°, (Orange arrow, image F) slide arm all
the way down the vertical rod as shown in image G. Refer to the “Joystick
Adjustment” section of the Owner’s Manual for more details on angle
adjustment.
c) If more cable is needed, refer to previous sections 1 and 2 to retrieve
more cable as required and re-attach afterwards. Leave a slack in the angle of
the cable as shown in image G. Add an extra 1 inch of cable to allow the
joystick to swing away freely.
d) As shown in image G, as well as attaching the cable with two B00051 ties
(A) on the horizontal rod (Depth adjustment), an additional B00051 tie (B)
must be attached to the vertical rod (Height adjustment).
e) Adjusting the DEPTH of a swing away joystick:
For a dual post armrest (Image G)
-
Using a 4 mm Allen key, loosen both screws underneath the armrest (C) to release the horizontal rod allowing it to move left to right/right to left (blue arrow in image G).
-
Route the cable along the rod as shown in the circle of image G. Once desired depth is reached, tighten screws.
For a cantilever or reclining armrest (Image F) -
Loosen the handle (Red arrows in image F) to release the horizontal rod allowing it to move left to right/right to left (blue arrow).
-
Route the cable along the horizontal rod as shown in the circle on the left side of image F. Once desired depth is reached, tighten handle.
WARNING: The slack in the cable to allow the joystick to swing away freely, should not exceed 1 inch. Do not let any cable stick out from the wheelchair or form a loop that could catch on external objects when moving around in the chair. This could cause severe damage in the wheelchair’s components or power supply.
Reversing the joystick mount angle from 35° back to 0°
a) Using cutters, cut and remove B00051 tie (B) as shown in image G.
b) To change the angle from 35° to 0°, (Orange arrow, image F) slide arm all
the way up the vertical rod as shown in image F. Refer to the “Joystick
Adjustment” section of the Owner’s Manual for more details on angle
adjustment.
c) For a dual post armrest (Image G), use a 4 mm Allen key to loosen both
screws underneath the armrest (C). For cantilever or reclining armrests,
loosen the handle (Image F). Using cutters, cut and remove both B00051 ties
(A) to retract the cable toward the backrest. Leave the appropriate length of
cable as shown in the circles on the right side of image F, depending on if a
keypad is installed or not. Add an extra 1 inch of cable to allow the joystick
to swing away freely.
d) Once the distance between the joystick and the armrest has been set,
tighten screws (C) on the dual post armrest or tighten handle on cantilever or
reclining armrests. Route the cable along the horizontal rod as shown in the
circle on the left side of images F and G.
e) Attach cable on horizontal rod with two B00051 ties (A).
f) Excess cable should be secured in the back of the chair. Refer to previous
sections 1 and 2 to recoil and attach the excess cable this change has
created.
WARNING: The slack in the cable to allow the joystick to swing away freely, should not exceed 1 inch. Do not let any cable stick out from the wheelchair or form a loop that could catch on external objects when moving around in the chair. This could cause severe damage in the wheelchair’s components or power supply.
Adjusting armrest height
REMINDER :
The white tie-wraps shown in the following images are for illustrative
purposes only, as these ties are normally black.
Before making any adjustments, it is important to note where and how the
cables are attached so that they are placed in the same location and attached
in the same way.
Dual post armrest height adjustment
a) Using the upper securing lever, move armrest up or down to desired height,
as shown by the blue arrow in images H and I.
b) No need to remove any ties to make this change.
Cantilever of reclining armrests height adjustment
a) Using cutters, cut and remove both B00052 ties as shown in image J.
b) Move armrest up or down to desired height as shown by the blue arrow.
c) If more cable is needed, refer to previous sections 1 and 2 to retrieve
cable as required and re-attach afterwards.
d) Reattach ties in the same location.
