Connecting the Receiver
-
Connect the audio output AF OUTPUT (9) to an audio input of the following device (e. g. mixer, amplifier): either to a line level input (possible marking of the input: “Line”, “Aux”, “CD”, “Tape”, “Tuner”) or to a microphone input. To reduce the output level if the audio output is connected to a microphone input, set the switch OUTPUT LEVEL (8) to the position “−20dB”.
Note : The output is balanced, but when the cable with two 2-pole 6.3mm plugs (supplied with the system) is used, the connection is unbalanced. If the input on the following device is balanced, a balanced connection is also possible: To do this, use a cable with 3-pole plugs instead of the cable provided (e. g. for an XLR input, use a cable with a 3-pole 6.3mm plug and an XLR plug). Balanced signal transmission will improve the noise immunity of a connection which is a particular advantage with long cables. -
For power supply, connect the power supply unit provided to the power supply jack DCV INPUT (7) and to a mains socket (230V/50Hz). A strain relief is provided to prevent accidental disconnection of the plug. Wrap the cable around the strain relief hook (10) at the bottom of the housing if required.
Note : If the receiver is not used for a longer period of time, disconnect the power supply unit from the socket. It will consume some power even when the receiver has been switched off.
Power Supply for the Transmitter(s)
For power supply, each transmitter requires two 1.5V batteries of size AA.
- Only insert batteries of the same type and always replace both batteries.
- If the transmitter is not used for a longer period of time, always remove the batteries to prevent damage due to battery leakage.
| Never put batteries in the household waste. Always dispose of the batteries
in accordance with local regulations.

Wireless hand-held microphone
for E-7HHSET/5 and E-7HHSETD/5
Unscrew the sleeve (16) on the lower end of the microphone. Insert the batteries into the battery compartment (12). Make sure that the positive and negative poles are in the correct position ( imprint inside the compartment). Screw the sleeve back on.
Pocket transmitter
for E-7BPSET/5 and E-7BPSETD/5
To open the battery compartment, slightly press the marking of the battery compartment cover (22) while pulling it down at the same time. Insert the batteries with the positive and negative poles as printed in the compartment. Replace the cover and lock it.
Connecting the Lavalier Microphone(s), Attaching the Pocket
Transmitter(s)
for E-7BPSET/5 and E-7BPSETD/5
Each pocket transmitter comes with a lavalier microphone CM-501 with clip.
Attach the microphone to the clip and connect it to the microphone input (18)
of the transmitter. (To disconnect, press the black release button on the
mini-XLR connector when pulling it out.) Attach the clip to your clothes (e.
g. tie, lapel).
Hint : Instead of CM-501, you can also use another microphone from the
JTS range that is designed for use with a pocket transmitter and has a 4-pole
mini-XLR connector, e.g. the headset microphone CM-214U or the earband
microphone CM-801F. Via the clip (21) on its back, the pocket transmitter can
be attached to your clothes (e. g. belt or waistband).
Operation
- Put the receiving antennas (6) in a vertical position.
- Switch on the receiver with the switch POWER (1).
Note : For a 2-channel system, the following operating steps refer to setting up the first transmission path with the first receiver unit and the associated transmitter. To set up the second transmission path, carry out the same operating steps with the second receiver unit and the second transmitter.
-
The display (2) shows the transmission channel. Leave the corresponding transmitter switched off for the time being. If the reception LED or RF/AF (4) lights up while the transmitter is switched off, interference or signals from other wireless transmitters are being received on this channel. In this case, set a different channel: chapter 7.1.
-
To switch on the transmitter, briefly press the button POWER/MUTE [(15) or (17)]. On the hand-held microphone, the power LED (13) lights up; on the pocket transmitter, the LED of the button is the power LED (green = batteries sufficiently charged, red = batteries almost discharged). The display [(14) or (19)] shows the transmission channel for approx. 10 seconds and then goes out. When you press a button on the device, the display reappears for 10 seconds. The transmitter must be set to the same channel as the receiver (channel setting chapter 7.1).
-
When the transmitter and receiver are set to the same channel, the radio reception is indicated on the receiver: on the 1-channel receiver, the red LED (4) lights up; on the 2-channel receiver, the LED RF/AF (4) lights red.
If no radio reception is indicated, please check
a) if the transmitter batteries are still sufficiently charged.
b) if the distance between the transmitter and the receiver is too large.
c) if the reception is disturbed by objects in the transmission path.
The transmitter and the receiver should have a minimum distance of 50cm from any metal objects and possible sources of interference, e. g. electric motors or fluorescent tubes. d) if the reception can be improved by moving the receiving antennas (6). -
Speak or sing into the microphone of the transmitter. Audio transmission is indicated on the receiver: When an audio signal is received, the green LED (4) lights up on the 1-channel receiver; on the 2-channel receiver, the LED RF/AF (4) changes to green. Adjust the volume to match the output level of the receiver to the device connected: On the 1-channel receiver, use the control VOL (5) to adjust the volume. On the 2-channel receiver, the mixed signal from the signals of both receiver units is present at the output, i. e. setting the volume for one receiver unit also determines the volume at which it can be heard in relation to the other unit. Use the buttons VOL (5) to adjust the volume: If one of the buttons is pressed, the display briefly shows the current volume level. To increase or reduce the volume, press the button or repeatedly until the desired value is shown on the display (setting range 0, 1 … 9, H). A few seconds after the setting has been made, the display indicates the channel again, a dot flashes rapidly to indicate that the modified volume has been saved and then goes out.
-
To mute the transmitter, briefly press the button POWER/MUTE: The power LED (on the hand-held microphone) or the LED of the button (on the pocket transmitter) flashes. To reactivate the sound, briefly press the button again.
To switch off the devices after operation:
• on the receiver, press the switch POWER
• on the transmitter, keep the button POWER/ MUTE pressed until the power LED
(on the hand-held microphone) or the LED of the button (on the pocket
transmitter) goes out.
Setting the transmission channel
The receiver and the transmitter of a transmission path must be set to the same channel. The channel can be set on each device with the button CH [(3), (11) or (20)]. For the hand-held microphone, the sleeve (16) must be unscrewed and screwed back on after the setting.
- Keep the button CH pressed until a dot flashes on the display next to the channel indication.
- As long as the dot is flashing, the channel can be set. Press the button CH repeatedly until the desired channel is displayed.
- Approx. 6 seconds after the setting has been made, the dot flashes rapidly to indicate that the change has been saved and then goes out.
Note : For a 2-channel system, select the channels for the two transmission paths so that they will not interfere with each other. If other E-7… systems are operated at the same site, the number of channels that can be used simultaneously without interfering with each other depends on the local conditions (a maximum of 11 channels in ideal conditions).
