SPECIFICATION
Drive: …………………………………………………………..19mm Hex
Maximum Jaw Opening: ……………………………………… 290mm
Maximum Capacity per Pair: ……………………………….. 1200kg
OPERATION
- WARNING! Determine the outer diameter and the compressed load of the spring and check that the compressor is suitable.
- WARNING! DO NOT compress the spring to an extent where the coil windings touch.
- WARNING! DO NOT compress the spring to an extent where the jaws touch.
Ensure the jaws and the body of the compressor are correctly aligned at all times during spring compression.
4.1. Remove strut from the vehicle according to procedures recommended in the manufacturer’s manual
- Put the jaws into position and engage them on the spring as far apart as possible
- Put the AK3843 body into position as shown in fig.1, (A =MacPherson strut), tighten the lower jaws around the lowest part of the spring using the locking ring (fig.1B).
- Ensure that the jaws are correctly aligned, making sure the two arms are parallel to each other, see fig.2.
- Tighten the compressor by turning the two 19mm hex adjuster bolts (fig.1D) clockwise using a suitable wrench. The coil will need to be compressed equally on each side – alternate between each arm so as to not unbalance the spring. Compress the spring without allowing it to become coil bound.
- When the spring is fully compressed and is free to rotate on the strut remove the top plate from the strut, then withdraw the spring.
- Reverse the above procedure to replace the spring.
MAINTENANCE
- Before each use check the compressor to ensure it is not damaged or worn. If the suspect does not use the unit, contact your local Sealey stockist who will be able to advise you regarding repair kits and spare parts.
- Keep the compressor spindles lubricated.
- Keep the compressor clean, and when not in use store it in a safe, dry, childproof location.
