Initial switching on

  • Remove the battery cover of the wireless outdoor sensor, press the channel selector switch in the battery compartment of the wireless outdoor sensor, set the desired channel, insert 2 x AA batteries – observe the polarity [“+” and “-” marks].
  • When the batteries are inserted, all icons on the LCD display will light up briefly for 3 seconds, and the wireless outdoor sensor will activate into normal working mode to detect the temperature and humidity in the environment. At this time, the sensor will transmit temperature and humidity status information once per minute, the red LED will flash once.
  • When the power adapter is connected to the weather station, all symbols on the display screen will be displayed for about 3 seconds, the weather station will activate to normal working mode to detect temperature, humidity and air pressure.
  • The weather station will now start establishing a connection with the outdoor sensor. This operation takes approximately 3 minutes and is indicated by the flashing RF antenna reception symbol “” in the “OUTDOOR” display field on the station. At the same time, the weather station starts to establish a WIFI connection (see the following description of the WIFI connection for details).
  • When the weather station is in operation, open the weather station battery compartment cover and insert 2 AA batteries, observing the polarity of the [“+” and “-” marks]. The batteries are a backup power source for the weather station to ensure normal operation of the weather station in the event of an unexpected power adapter disconnection or power interruption.

Note: when the power adapter is disconnected, the WIFI connection of the weather station is automatically terminated.

Weather station and application connection
When the weather station is first connected to the power adapter and switched on, after the display goes to normal display, the 01 AP and WIFI icons appear on the time bar. The AP symbol will flash in AP mode (01, 02), the WIFI indicator will flash in WIFI pairing mode. First connect your mobile phone to a WiFi network (2.4GHz), then open the Smart Life / TUYA app on your mobile phone and follow the diagram below.

Preparing for pairing with Smart LIfe / TUYA
Download the Smart Life / TUYA app:

By phone brand, search for the Smart Life / TUYA app in the iOS APP Store or in Google play for Android, find the app and download it. Open the “Smart Life / TUYA” app, tap “Register” and register your “Smart Life” account using your phone number or email. Then log in to the app.
Go to the app and tap “Add device” or tap the “+” symbol located in the upper right corner -> Add manually -> Small Home Appliances -> Weather clock (Wi- FI). On the next screen, select your Wi-Fi network and enter your password. On the next screen, make sure “EZ Mode” is selected in the upper right corner. If not, select it. Then click “Confirm indicator slow blink” and click Next. Within seconds, the weather station will be paired with your Smart Life account. Detailed video instructions for pairing and operating the app can be found in English on YouTube – search for “Solight TE81WiFi app instructions”.
Outdoor sensor
When the weather station successfully receives a signal from the wireless sensor, the temperature and humidity inthe OUTDOOR field will be displayed on weather stations. The weather station can connect up to 3 wireless sensors, you can choose to display the value of one sensor or cyclic display of several sensors in sequence (1, 2, 3 channels can be selected). By pressing the ” ” button you can switch the display of different sensors, when the ” ” symbol is displayed, the channel is automatically switched every 5 seconds. If the station failed to receive a signal from the outdoor sensor (the display shows “- -“), press and hold down the ” ” button for 3 seconds to trigger signal reception. The outdoor temperature display will show animation of the RF antenna symbol, the weather station receives the wireless signal from the outdoor sensor again.
Note: If you set the outdoor sensors to channels 1 and 3, for example, the measured sensor value will be displayed on these channels during cycling, but channel 2 will display “–” since no sensor is connected on channel 2

Manual settings

  • Press the ” ” button to toggle the calendar or time/second or time/week display.
  • Press and hold the ” ” button for 2 seconds, the 12/24 hour mode display will flash. Now use the ” ” and ” ” buttons to set the correct 12/24 hour mode.
  • Press the ” ” button to confirm the setting, the time zones will start flashing, now use the ” ” and ” ” buttons to set the correct time zone (-12 to +12).
  • Press the ” ” button to confirm the settings, the clock display will start flashing. Now use the ” ” and ” ” buttons to set the correct hour.
  • Press the ” ” button to confirm the setting, the minutes display will flash. Now use the ” ” and ” ” buttons to set the correct minute.
  • Press the ” ” button to confirm the setting, the month and date icon will flash on the display. Now use the ” ” and ” ” buttons to set the date display to Month/Date or Date/Month.
  • Press the ” ” button to confirm the settings, the 2016 display will start flashing. Now use the ” ” and ” ” buttons to set the correct year.
  • Press the ” ” button to confirm the setting, the month display will start flashing. Now use the ” ” and ” ” buttons to set the correct month.
  • Press the button” ” to confirm the setting, the date display will start flashing. Now use the ” ” and ” ” buttons to set the correct date.
  • Press the ” ” button to confirm the setting, the language selection for the day name display will start flashing. Now use the ” ” and ” ” buttons to select the language.

  • Press the ” ” button to confirm the setting, the temperature grades will be displayed and start flashing. Now use the ” ” and ” ” buttons to set the temperature unit in °C or °F.
  • Press the ” ” button to confirm the setting, the barometric pressure in mb/hPa is displayed and starts flashing. Now use the ” ” and ” ” buttons to set the pressure unit in mb/hPa or inHg or mmHg.
  • Press the ” ” button to confirm the settings and exit the setup procedures and enter clock mode.
  • After 20 seconds without pressing any button, the clock automatically switches from setup mode to normal time mode.

Display of temperature/humidity/barometric pressure and temperature/humidity trend
The LCD display shows the current indoor temperature/humidity/barometric pressure and the temperature/humidity trend (indoors). Once successfully connected to an outdoor sensor, the weather station can display outdoor temperature/humidity and trend temperature/humidity (outdoor).
The following information may be displayed:

  • Air temperature/humidity is rising.
  • Temperature/humidity remains constant.
  • Temperature/humidity is dropping.

Maximum/minimum temperature/relative humidity
To toggle the indoor/outdoor maximum and minimum temperature and humidity readings, press the “MEM” button:

  • 1x press – displays the maximum temperature and humidity values.
  • 2x press – displays the minimum temperature and humidity values.
  • 3x press – return to the current temperature and humidity values.

To reset the maximum and minimum temperature and humidity, press and hold the “MEM” button for about 2 seconds. This will reset all recorded minimum and maximum readings. If the measured temperature is below the ranges, LL.L will be displayed. If the measured temperature is above the ranges, HH.H will be displayed. If the battery symbol ” ” appears, the batteries in the outdoor sensor must be replaced as soon as possible.

Frost
If the outside temperature is between -1°C and +3°C or +30°F and +37°F, the display will show ” “.
Weather forecast
The weather station calculates the weather forecast for approximately 12 hours based on the barometric pressure. This forecast cannot, of course, be compared with the forecasts of professional meteorological services supported by satellites and high-performance computers, but only provides an approximate indication of current developments. Please consider the weather forecast from the local weather service and also the forecast from your weather service weather stations. If the information from your device and the local weather service differs, please take it as
the guiding advice of this professional service.

Lunar phase:
The weather station has a display that automatically shows the current moon phase.

The weather station can display the barometric pressure trend
The following information is displayed:

  • Barometric pressure is increasing.
  • The barometric pressure remains constant.
  • Barometric pressure is falling.

Display illumination

Press the ” ” button to adjust the backlight brightness, you can set 4 levels: 3 different backlight brightness levels and off backlight. When the power adapter of the product is disconnected, the product will switch to the power from the backup battery. At this point, press any button to turn on the backlight for 8 seconds. If the device is battery powered, the display is not continuously lit. The product has been issued with a CE declaration of conformity in accordance with the applicable regulations.
