Product Information

Power Supply

Use only the Blackstar-approved power supply (Blackstar PSU-1) to power your FLY 3 BASS when you’re staying indoors. The power supply is sold separately.

Connectivity

The FLY 3 BASS can be connected to various devices, including desktop or laptop computers, tablets, PA systems, phones, and headphones. For a stereo setup, you can connect it to FLY 103.

Important Safety Instructions

  • Follow all warnings and instructions marked on the product.
  • Clean the product only with a dry cloth.
  • Do not expose the product to rain, liquids, or moisture.
  • Avoid pushing objects into ventilation slots on the equipment casing.
  • Do not place the product on an unstable surface that may cause it to fall.
  • Ensure ventilation slots or openings are not covered or blocked.
  • Unplug the power supply and mains cable from the mains supply when not in use.

Product Usage Instructions

Getting Started

  1. Connect your instrument to the input jack of the FLY 3 BASS.
  2. To select the Overdrive channel, press the OD switch. Press it out to use the Clean channel.

  • Plug your guitar lead into the Input socket.

POWER

  • Switch your amplifier on using the Power Switch.

SETTING UP

CLEAN OR OVERDRIVE

  • Press the OD switch to select the Overdrive channel — when the switch is out, the Clean channel is in operation.

SUB

  • The SUB gives the perception of increased low-end frequency.

COMPRESSOR

  • The COMP. RATIO control will smooth the attack and dynamic range.

CHOOSE YOUR SOUND

  • Set your gain and volume – higher gain settings give you more overdrive. Blend the EQ DEPTH anywhere between a fat sounding mid boost and a deep mid-cut voicing.

Connect the output of your MP3 device to your FLY 3 BASS.

MP3 Line In & EM. OUT/Phones

  • Play audio from your phone, MP3 player, tablet or laptop through the FLY 3 BASS using an AUX cable (sold separately) – you can also plug headphones into the FLY 3 BASS via the EM. OUT & PHONES jack socket.

BATTERIES

  • We recommend using rechargeable (NiMH) or Alkaline batteries in your FLY 3 BASS to get the most out of using it on the go.

  • Use the Blackstar-approved power supply to power your FLY 3 BASS when you’re staying inside.

  • Connect the optional FLY 103 for a 6W stereo set-up.

  • Do not open the equipment case. There are no user-serviceable parts in this equipment. Refer all servicing to qualified service personnel.
  • Clean only with a dry cloth.
  • Condensation can form on the inside of an amplifier if it is moved from a cold environment to a warmer location. Before switching the unit on, it is recommended that the unit be allowed to reach room temperature.
  • Unauthorized modification of this equipment is expressly forbidden by Blackstar Amplification Ltd.
  • Never push objects of any kind into ventilation slots on the equipment casing.
  • Do not expose this apparatus to rain, liquids, or moisture of any type.
  • Do not place this product on an unstable trolley, stand, or table. The product may fall, causing serious damage to the product or to persons!
  • Do not cover or block ventilation slots or openings.
  • This product should not be placed near a source of heat such as a stove, radiator, or another heat-producing amplifier.
  • Use only an approved Blackstar power supply and mains cable (Blackstar PSU-1). Unplug the Blackstar power supply and mains cable from the mains supply when not in use.
  • Batteries shall not be exposed to excessive heat such as sunshine, fire, or similar. They must be disposed of according to local environmental guidelines.

If the product does not operate normally when the operating instructions are followed, then refer the product to a qualified service engineer.
The U.S. Government’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has specified the following permissible noise level exposures:

According to OSHA, any exposure over the above permissible limits could result in some hearing loss. An ear plug protector in the ear canals or over the ears must be worn when operating this amplification system to prevent permanent hearing loss if exposure is more than the limits as set forth above. To ensure against potentially dangerous exposure to high sound pressure levels, it is recommended that all persons exposed to equipment capable of producing high sound pressure levels such as this amplification system be protected by hearing protectors while this unit is in operation.

All electrical and electronic products should be disposed of separately from the municipal waste stream via designated collection facilities appointed by the government or the local authorities.

  12. Unplug this apparatus during lightning storms or when unused for long periods.
