Elkay 570B-1 Outdoor Standard PIR Timer
The Outdoor Standard PIR Timer (3 wire) is part of the Elkay family of switches, timers and detectors which save energy and increase convenience in and around your home, garden or premises
Rating at 240V ac 50Hz
- Time Delay: 2 min – 1 hour
- All general load types 10A – Including lighting loads that are LED, Compact Fluorescent, Incandescent and Resistive
- This switch can also switch contactors provided a capacitor is fitted across the coil
- IP66 rated
Fitting and Operating Instructions
This product can ONLY be used with the back box supplied and can be used in outdoor and bathroom applications. Failure to use the back box will invalidate the warranty. It is essential that the correct IP66 rated connections are made to keep the IP66 rating of the back box maintained.
- Take the surface mount box and remove knockouts as required. Ideally remove with a hole saw for cleanest effect and remove any burrs. Drill a small 3mm drain hole at the back of the box in the position marked ‘DRAIN‘. Drill outwards from the inside of the box.
- Mount the surface mount box on a secure surface using the mounting pack supplied. Place screw cover seal over the rear mounting screws after screwing the box to the wall.
- It is essential to maintain the IP rating with all connections to the box. Please use a suitable M20 cable gland and use appropriate sealing washers. For steel wired armoured connections to the box use a nylon 20mm seal to maintain IP rating. Seals have been provided for your convenience.
- Prior to fitting ensure mains power is switched OFF and live in, live out and neutral wires are identified.
- Securely fit live in, live out and neutral wires into terminals marked Lin, Lout & N.
- Turn mains power ON.
- To test the PIR timer leave the area and the load will switch OFF in approximately 60 seconds as long as no movement or external sources are detected.
- To test the timer re-enter the area and the PIR Timer will detect movement and trigger the load ON.
- Select time delay required using Timing Diagram and the lux level pot to desired ambient light level required.
- Ensure the timer is secured to the back box securely.
- Do not press the PIR dome for any reason.

• PIR is too close to lights – Re-position away from lighting, forced air ventilation or heating sources.
• Ensure PIR is not looking directly at heat source or is in direct sunlight.
• PIR is re-triggered – Check area is left unoccupied for longer than time setting using an accurate time piece.
Lights will not switch ON| • Check Terminal connections.
• Lux set too low – Turn up lux level towards the plus and wait 30 seconds for sensor to adjust.
Light switches OFF then immediately comes back ON| • Check terminal connections.

Important Notice
All wiring should be carried out by a competent person
IEE wiring regulations BS 7671. The circuit should be isolated before carrying
out any work. Failure to adhere to the instructions will invalidate the
warranty.
