Elkay 360A-1 Illuminated Touch Timer Master

The Activator (3 wire) is part of the Elkay family of switches, timers and detectors which save energy and increase convenience in and around your home, garden or premises.

Rating at 240V ac 50Hz

  • Time Delay: 2 min – 2 hrs
  • All load types 16A

Usage

The Activator is used to provide multiple switching at various points in the same circuit and must be used in conjunction with ONE Elkay Illuminated master timer in that circuit. It is used to remotely trigger the master timer. Any combination of Activators can be wired to any single master timer, thus giving a variety of activation functions in a switching circuit.

The activator unit is compatible with a single gang, 25mm deep, British standard accessory plate. Please ensure that the top and bottom lugs are removed, if fitted, from metal wall boxes prior to fitting and that there is adequate space for wiring.

Wiring

See appropriate wiring diagram (see diagram 1 & 2).

Fitting and Operating Instructions

  1. Turn off mains supply before installation. For best
results have a live in, live out and trigger cable cores running between the Master and Activator identified. Please note the Touch and PIR activator must have a three-core connection to the Master but the Push Button can sacrifice the blue locator ring at the activators if a third core is not available. Please select the appropriate wiring diagram as per Master and Activator combinations (see diagram 1 & 2).

  2. PIR and Touch Activators only Ensure the battery jumper tag Battery located at the back of the unit on the right-hand corner is fitted across the outer 2 pins as below.

Pushbutton & Touch Button Activators – Press or Touch the activator button once to remotely trigger the associated master timer to switch ON. This will switch the light source or appliance ON and initiate the pre-set timing delay sequence.

PIR Activator only – Leave the area and wait for the Master Timer to switch OFF providing no further movement are detected, re-enter the area and the PIR will detect movement and trigger the unit initiating the timing sequence on the Master unit it is attached to and switch the light source or appliance ON.

All timers – At any time during the working of the light source, load or appliance, the pushbutton/ touchpad can be pressed to reset the timing sequence on the master unit to the originally set time, e.g. When the timing period is 30 minutes, if the pushbutton/touchpad is pressed 15 minutes into sequence, the timer will restart for a further 30 minutes. To prematurely end the timing of the Push/Touch master timer, press and hold the pushbutton/touch for 2.5 seconds and the pre-set delay time will time out after 60 seconds and switch OFF, during this time-out period the red LED on the master will fl ash continuously. The blue locator ring will then illuminate once the light or appliance is switched OFF.

PIR Activator only – In standard operation the PIR Activator will now sense body heat when passing through the detection zone. Each time the Activator PIR is triggered the red LED will fl ash once and reset the timer on the master unit it is connected to, back to the start of the timing period. The unit will then wait 10 to 15 seconds approximately before allowing the PIR unit to sense and re-trigger the timing period again.

If no one is present in the room or the detection zone is not passed through during its set time period, the timer will time out turning off the lights or appliance and the blue indicator ring will light up. The Activator PIR unit will only trigger the lights or application if the ambient light level is below what has been set on the lux level adjustment.

Important Notice
All wiring should be carried out by a competent person or a qualified electrician and should be fitted to current IEE wiring regulations BS 7671.The circuit should be isolated before carrying out any work. Failure to adhere to the instructions will invalidate the warranty.
