USE

When the product is new

Remove all the packaging and any stickers. Rub off all residual glue from the soleplate with a cloth moistened with methylated spirits. Rinse the water reservoir by filling it with water and then emptying it to remove any residual impurities from the manufacturing.

NOTE: The first time you use the appliance it may fume a little. This is quite normal and soon stops.

Filling with water
  1. Unplug the power cord.
  2. Set the steam control (5) in position .
  3. Fill the water reservoir (fig. 1).
  4. Place the iron upright and check that the level does not exceed MAX (fig. 2).
    Filling with water

NOTE: Normal tap water can be used without affecting the steam function. Distilled or demineralised water is recommended if the water is hard. Never fill the reservoir with anything other than water and do not use perfumed water, softened starch or other additives that can damage the steam system. Do not use contaminated water or chemically decalcified water.

Use

  • Check that the mains voltage corresponds to the rated voltage on the type plate.
  • Make sure no other appliances are ¢onne¢ted to the same circuit as the iron, this could cause overloading.
  • Plug the power word into the power point.
  • Turn the temperature control so that it points to the required temperature setting. The status lamp goes on when the appliance heats up, and goes off when the set temperature is reached.

NOTE: If the temperature control is turned from a higher to a lower temperature setting, the status lamp goes off immediately. This indicates that the appliance is cooling to the new, lower temperature. Wait until the status lamp goes on again and then goes off before starting to iron, to make sure the iron has cooled to the right temperature.

NOTE: The status lamp comes on and goes off now and then during the ironing, when the thermostat is working to maintain the set temperature. This is quite normal.

NOTE: When steam ironing the temperature control must be set to a temperature within the steam interval and the reservoir must be at least 1/4 full.

Steam burst – extra steam

Steam bursting can be used both when steam ironing and dry ironing, as long as the temperature control is set to a temperature higher than two points (• •).

The reservoir must be at least 1/4 full.

  1. Set the required temperature and wait until the status lamp goes off to show that the right temperature has been reached.
  2. Press the steam burst button several times with the iron standing on the soleplate to fill the

NOTE: If the reservoir was empty the pump may need to be refilled after filling water into the reservoir.

Spray function

The spray function can be used for at all temperatures, with or without steam, as long as the reservoir is a least 1/4 full.

  1. Press the spray button when ironing to spray the garment with a fine mist of water.

When you have finished

  1. Switch off the appliance and unpluq the power cord.
  2. Allow the appliance to cool and then wind the power cord round the built-in cord holder.

Tip:

  • Sort the garments to be ironed according to the temperatures they can withstand (wools and cottons, etc.). Start with the garments that have the lowest ironing temperature, e.g. synthetic materials. Continue with the garments that withstand higher temperatures.
  • For garments consisting of mixed materials, e.q. 40% cotton and 60% polyester use the temperature setting for the material that withstands the lowest temperature.
  • Use a low temperature for garments with spangles, embroidery, and applications etc.
  • If you are unsure of the temperature the material can withstand, try ironing a concealed part of the garment. Start with a low temperature and gradually increase to a suitable temperature.
  • Never iron over stains. The heat will cause stains to burn into the material.
  • Use a medium temperature when ironing without steam. A high temperature can leave yellow marks.
  • Iron silk, woollen and synthetic garments from the reverse side to avoid leaving marks.
  • Iron velvet in the direction of the fibres and do not press on the iron to avoid making the material shiny.
  • Many fabrics are easier to iron when they are not completely dry, silk for example should always be ironed when damp.
  • Garments become more wrinkled if the washing machine is full and when spin drying at high speed.
  • It is important to keep the soleplate flat. Do not iron over hard objects, such as buttons and zips etc.
  • Fibres of 100% wool can be ironed. Use a lot of steam and a dry cloth.

MAINTENANCE

IMPORTANT: Unplug the power cord before all maintenance.

Cleaning the outside

  • Wipe the outside of the appliance with a cloth moistened with mild detergent and dry with a dry cloth. Do not use abrasive agents, strong detergents or solvents, they can damage the appliance.

Cleaning the inside

  • The cleaning button (11) is used to flush out any impurities that could stain the garments. Unplug the power cord and hold the iron over a sink, or equivalent. Press the button to flush water through the iron.

Cleaning the steam openings

  • Deposits can build up over time in the outlets for the steam and interfere with the steam function. These deposits should be removed with a cotton bud moistened with methylated spirits.

Cleaning the soleplate

  • The soleplate has a non-stick coating to reduce the risk of textiles and starch adhering to the soleplate. Do not iron over hard objects, such as buttons and zips etc.
  • Wipe the soleplate with a damp cloth after use. If polyester has burned onto the soleplate, wipe with a moist cotton cloth while it is still warm.

NOTE: Do not use abrasive sponges or abrasive or strong detergents that can damage the surface of the soleplate.

Storage
  1. Unplug the power cord.
  2. Set the steam control (5) in position
  3. Turn the temperature control (9) to the lowest temperature.
  4. Allow the iron to cool completely.
  5. Empty the reservoir by opening the cap (2), turning the iron upside down and carefully shaking it.
  6. Wind the power cord round the back of the iron and fasten it with the cord slip.
  7. Store the iron upright standing on the heel in a dry and safe place.

NOTE: If the power cord is damaged it must be replaced by an authorised service Centre, or other qualified personnel, to ensure safe use.
