Introduction
The LED Twinspot with PIR motion sensor is a fully automatic security
spotlight. During the hours of darkness, the PIR motion sensor turns on the
spotlight when it detects movement in the PIR coverage area. During daylight
hour the PIR motion sensor saves energy by deactivating the spotlight.
Note: Please read this entire instruction manual before you start to
install the spotlight.
Safety precautions
- Installation must be performed by a skilled/competent person.
- There are no serviceable parts inside.
- Not suitable to be used with dimmer switches.
- DO NOT install when it is raining.
- During installation or servicing always turn off power.
- The pre-wired supply cable must be used and may not be removed.
Choosing a mounting location
- For the best results, mount the spotlight 1.8 – 2.4m above the ground.
- Avoid aiming the PIR motion sensor at pools, heating vents, air conditioners or objects that may change temperature.
- Avoid aiming the PIR motion sensor at trees or shrubs or where the movement of pets or animals may be detected.
- DO not allow sunlight to fall directly onto the front of the PIR motion sensor, otherwise poor triggering response may occur.
- Less sensitive to a heat source that moves directly towards the PIR motion sensor (1 page 2).
- Consider the detection range/area when choosing a mounting location.
Installation & Wiring instruction
Drill the holes and insert suitable wall plugs. Fix the mounting bracket tot the wall using suitable screws (2 page 2).
- An internal single pole wall switch is recommended to allow easy control of the LED Twinspot with PIR motion sensor (4 page 2).
- If the connection is made outdoors a suitable IP box must be used to make the connections.
- Do not remove the pre-wired supply cable, this will invalidate the warranty.
First time power up
- Reinstate the power supply to the spotlight and switch the spotlight on from the wall switch if installed. The spotlight will turn on for around 2 seconds and then turns off.
- Walk through the PIR motion sensor coverage area. The spotlight turns on when you move through the detection area. Wait for the spotlight to turn off before moving again to test the PIR motion sensor.
- When you are happy with the coverage area you can set the spotlight to the desired TIME period and LUX level.
| Turn the TIME control knob towards the + sign to increase how long the
spotlight stays on (up to about 12 minutes). The recommended setting for Time
control is approximately midpoint of the scale (approximately 5 minutes).
---|---
| The LUX control can be adjusted between T (always triggered regardless of
light level) and the moon symbol (triggered on only during hours of
darkness). The recommended setting for the Lux control is fully turned to the
moon symbol. IF the Lux control is left in the T position the spotlight will
be triggered on by the PIR motion sensor regardless of the ambient light
level.
Trouble shooting Spotlight does not turn on.
– Check Lux setting
– Check wall switch is on
– Confirm wiring is correct
Spotlight remains on
– Check time setting.
– Cover PIR motion sensor with black insulating tape. If after the timer set
time expires the floodlight turns off this indicates that the PIR motion
sensor can see a moving heat source. Eg: Open window, boiler outlet, open
exterior door or moving branches or bushes retaining heat from the daytime
period.
Spotlight flashes on and off
– PIR motion sensor being triggered off by reflected light.
