Introduction

Thank you for purchasing a Sunfire Dynamic Series Subwoofer. We hope you enjoy it and the music it makes as much as we have enjoyed creating it for you.

The big features of the subwoofer are its high-efficiency Class D digital amplifier, and its computer-optimized woofer and passive radiator design. And, the Sunfire Dynamic Series’ extended frequency response means that your subwoofer is the perfect match to virtually any loudspeaker. The result is extraordinarily high operating efficiency – that is, more acoustic output for each watt of input.

Unpacking

Your Sunfire subwoofer should reach you in perfect condition. If you do notice any ship ping dam age, please contact your Sunfire Dealer immediately.

Gently lift out the unit and remove all the packing material. It is important to save all the packing materials and the box in case your subwoofer ever needs to be moved or shipped for repair.

Make sure that you keep your sales receipt. It is the only way to establish the duration of your Limited Warranty and it may come in useful for insurance purposes.

Please take a moment to read the serial number located on the control panel and record it here:

Features

  • Low distortion
  • Premium quality driver and passive radiator
  • Extremely compact size
  • Automatic signal-sensing turn-on and standby mode
  • Line-level inputs
  • Line-level high-pass outputs
  • Phase control
  • Crossover frequency control
  • Volume control
  • Soft clipping circuit allows graceful overload and prevents speaker dam age due to clip-ping

Care

To maintain the speaker cabinet’s finish, first unplug the power cord and then use a soft cloth to clean the surfaces.

Warranty

Sunfire, a division of Elan Home Systems, LLC, is proud of its products which have been built with care using advanced technology and premium component parts. Your unit has been crafted to perform properly for many years. The warranty details for your product are shown on the sunfire website.

Location

Your SDS Subwoofer is designed to be placed in a corner for optimum performance.

Experiment with at least two corners and decide which sounds the best.

Although low frequencies are non-direction al, room reflections, standing waves, resonance and absorption strongly affect the performance. Moving the subwoofer from one corner to another can have a major effect on the bass response.

Keep it at least two or three feet away from any CRT screen, computer, VCR or magnetic tapes and discs. This will reduce the chance of the magnetic fields upsetting the CRT screen or erasing your magnetic media.

Also position the control panel so that it is not touching anything and can receive good ventilation.

Using Two Subwoofers

With two subwoofers, the sound output will double. Place each subwoofer in a corner, and experiment with the location and phase control to achieve the best bass response.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is subwoofer system?****

A speaker created specifically to reproduce the bass, or low-pitched audio frequencies, is known as a subwoofer (sometimes written sub). Passive Sub: Passive subs are so-called because they must be powered by an external amplifier or Audio/Video (A/V) receiver.

What is a subwoofer used for?****

A subwoofer is a necessary component of a complete audio system because conventional two-channel or surround sound configurations cannot produce lower frequencies between 20 and 200 Hz on their own.

Is subwoofer only for bass?****

Low-pitched audio frequencies called bass and sub-bass, which are lower in frequency than those that can (optimally) be produced by a woofer, are reproduced by an audio loudspeaker known as a subwoofer (or sub).

What are the two types of subwoofer?****

An internal amplifier distinguishes an active subwoofer from a passive subwoofer, which depends on an external amplifier.

Does a subwoofer improve sound?****

A great subwoofer will help your system as a whole by taking some of the load off of your loudspeakers. The stereo picture gets better, the soundstage gets bigger, and the dynamics get more interesting.

Do you need speakers with a subwoofer?****

Subwoofers do improve sound quality; however the components can occasionally malfunction. You can’t utilize a subwoofer by yourself. Only when a speaker is connected does it function.

What makes a subwoofer more powerful?****

The power of the subwoofer in question is determined by its wattage; a subwoofer with a higher wattage is more powerful.

Is a 2 or 4 ohm sub better?****

Because a subwoofer with a lower electrical resistance produces a louder sound than one with a higher electrical resistance, it follows that 2 ohm subwoofers are louder than 4 ohm ones.

Do subwoofers only produce bass?****

An audio loudspeaker called a subwoofer (or sub) is made to reproduce low- pitched audio frequencies called bass and sub-bass that are lower in frequency than those that can be (optimally) produced by a woofer.

What does a good subwoofer sound like?****

The lower frequency limit of human hearing is 20Hz or lower, which is what a decent subwoofer will achieve. This creates a far more immersive experience because you never miss a note and can even feel the lowest notes from instruments like a pipe organ, kick drum, bass guitar, or the occasional cannon fire from the 1812 Overture.

What is the lifespan of a subwoofer?****

A subwoofer can last anywhere from 5 to 14 years. The average person should be able to get 10+ years out of their subwoofer if it is well-maintained and not misused.

Is a heavier subwoofer better?****

A big subwoofer driver has the capacity to generate a higher SPL and deeper bass than a smaller subwoofer driver, according to the principles of physics.

Can any subwoofer go with any amp?****

The coil type and impedance for many subs connected together must match. If they aren’t, the power won’t be distributed among them fairly, and some subs would likely become overpowered while others would become underpowered. Each type of amp is required if you wish to run many subwoofers in the same system.
