CONNECTIONS
- Connect the two RCA jacks to your amp, preamp, or receiver.
- Connect a USB source using a USB A-C cable (supplied). If you’re using a USB source, this may be the only input you need.
- (Optional) Connect a coaxial digital source to the coaxial input, using an RCA cable, 75 ohm preferred.
- (Optional) Connect an optical source to the optical input jack, using a Toslink cable.
- (Optional) Connect a 5V power source to the power input if you need external power—see below.
If you’re using Modi+ as a USB only DAC, you don’t need Power Input. Just
connect it to your computer and you’re set.
If you’re using the other digital inputs, and you’re NOT using USB, you need
Power Input. Connect the USB wall-wart with the supplied USB A-C cable to
provide power for the other inputs.
USING MODI+
-
Select input by pressing the input button.
This selects from three inputs—USB, optical, and coaxial. Keep pressing and it will cycle back around thru the inputs. -
When lit, the Unison USB™ input is selected. This is good for computers, tablets, streamers, and phones.
-
When lit, the Optical (Toslink style) input is selected. Typically used with TVs.
-
When lit, the Coaxial input is selected.
Used with some CD players and transports.
TROUBLESHOOTING
“Draws too much power” error? Disconnect Modi+ from USB, then connect the
wall-wart to the Power Input. Modi+ will then report as a 0mA USB device.
You’ll need another USB cable to connect to your source.
No sound? Make sure you have the correct output device selected on your
device. For computers, you may need to select Modi+ in both Control Panel
(Windows) or System
Prefs (Mac) AND in your player software or streaming service interface.
